Holy cow! Crazy good brisket and ribs, good price and loved our waitress! Only disappointments were the garlic mashed potatoes were lacking and it could be cleaner. Nor sure if the wonder bread beneath the brisket was intentional, if not, a nice garlic toast would have been nice or the onion strings. Great, fun atmosphere!

Always love the variety of BBQ sauce. First time I have ordered their Burnt ends. Good but half the meat were pieces of fat. Sucks because meat was tasty. Service good and prompt drink refills.

It has a good taste but we’ve gone there about 3 times and out of those twice we have gotten our food cold. Sorry I don’t like my BBQ cold won’t be returning.

So disappointed tonight! Waited 30+ minutes(table still wasn’t ready) only to be told that it would take 1hr to get our food. Why weren’t we told this before hand? Now we have to go to another restaurant and wait again. What an inconvenience.

Great friendly service. Had the pulled pork sandwich which was pretty good but the bun seemed artificial and a way small portion of red potatoes/coleslaw. Left still a little hungry. Have not been to a Famous Dave’s in a few years but it seems from past memories that their sauces are not the same and are watered down. All in all pleased with service and atmosphere but disappointed in meal portion. Just to update a little, had the bar nachos last night and found them suprisenly very good with a good Smokey flavor.

Came here once before and thought we liked it so, tried it again today. Now I remember… not so hot for a BBQ joint. Mashed potatoes came to the table cold, I asked for extra butter and the potatoes to be warmed up. Seemed we got attitude from the waitress after that, until the manager came by and saw we needed refills on drinks. Then, she was quite pleasant again. Would I come back a 3rd time? I think not, I’ll try somewhere else next time.

Their juicy ribs and awesome cornbread keeps me going back for more. The brisket is always phenomenal and their decent prices are pretty spot on if you’re looking for quality and quantity to match. The bar area has a separate menu during happy hour, be sure to ask for it, its not always sitting out, so you have to ask.

Always loved this place. My only gripe is their lack of military appreciation. «In uniform only» gets the lame 10% discount. What about those NOT being douche bags and wearing their uniform when they are serving? What about wounded warriors? What about disabled vets? Come on, FD’s, show some gratitude. Sadly, this means I’ll be heading elsewhere for my ribs in the future.

WOW. NO, REALLYWOW! Tried this place for the first time tonight and it was beyond tasty. Waiter was very personable and all the staff we came in contact with us had a smile. Son tried the hottest Q sauce and immediately needed water so it must be hot! Overall the food was great and the value was there. Chicken was moist, husband normally says no to chicken and he even remarked how good it was. Ribs, brisket, link and fries were all very tasty. We were excited to try the 6 diff Q sauces but it was so well seasoned and sauced up we didn’t even bother. Cornbread was moist and Banana bread pudding was a great send off. Great first visit to Dave’s we will definitely b regulars here.

This is my first time at this location & I definitely enjoyed! The place is pretty dimmed but you can still read everything around! We had a party of 7& were sat down quick. We were also greeted by really friendly servers & hostesses! They definitely catered to us & always checked in with us. The server we had was patient, friendly & honest. Food was amazing! Chicken was moist & I love the skin! Mmmm. They’re known for their brisket… But it was alright. Ribs though! YESSS. Cole slaw was a bit watery but the corn bread was bomb! We also ordered a side of broccoli… Which is just two big broccoli stocks, lol. We cut it ourselves to make it smaller. Famous Daves have different bbq sauces too! My favorite is rich & sassy! TRYIT! We also ordered kids meal & the corn dogs… Is Vienna sausage. One thing though… This place doesn’t chant«FEAST» when you order the feast. That was always the fun part! Especially, chanting along.

I’m here frequently but have never reviewed it. I love the dinner salad. The house made croutos are the best. The ribs are awesome. Probably the best prepared by a «chain». The service in the bar rates as «excellent». Lucera, D.J., Liz, & Kea know & care, not only for their regulars, but are quick to serve their new guests with top flight service.

I enjoy Famous Daves and have eaten at one in Salt Lake Ciry and near Virginia. They never fail to provide great food and excellent service. This location is living up to the standards of great food, excellent service and warm hospitality. Please done here with family. It’s reasonably priced and you won’t be disappointed.

Good BBQ! Family feast fed my family of 4 with some leftovers. Meat tasty n tender. Beans very good. Corn n corn bread always a good treat. Staff super friendly. We were seated pretty quickly. We were greeted nicely and leaving again hostess asked if we enjoyed our meal. Waitress was attentive, she knew her menu very well. Bonus: for being first timers they gave us a goodie bag with their homemade BBQ sauce Rich n Sassy. Which was very tasty. I put some on my Brisket.

Super friendly staff. Short wait if any for a party of four. And… the barbeque at this location is still one of my favorites! I love stopping here for dinner when driving from LA to SF. I’ve been here a few times, but on my first visit, the waitress brought out a sampling of all the sauces. The sauces were super tasty, but the Rich n’ Sassy was probably the best. It was slightly tangy, with just a hint of spiciness and full of that BBQ flavor you expect. The All-American BBQ Feast for Two was perfect for all of us. There’s a little bit of everything — St. Louis spareribs, roasted chicken, beef brisket, fries, mac & cheese(in lieu of slaw), corn on the cob and corn bread. The St. Louis ribs are the best thing followed by their Texas brisket. The meats were tender and not dry — perfect with a little sauce. Get the jalapeño mac and cheese as one of your sides. One I the best tasting macs ever. And the crumbly corn bread with butter… mmm! The waitress came by often and even gave us a bottle of sauce for the food we packed to go. Can’t wait to head back to SF again!

I never expect much at BBQ places, but this place was excellent! We got the feast for 2 and it easily fed 3 of us with some left overs. This is the first place that I’ve had the chicken and it wasn’t dry. I also loved the brisket. It had a nice light smoke flavor and super tender but not oily. The ribs had a light smothering of sauce on it and then grilled. Pretty good except I could taste a bit of chemical taste to it. Sort of like when you’re grill catches on fire and burns everything. Other than that I was really impressed with the place even though we had to track down our waitress a few times to get things like knives, water and sauce.

Relatively short wait considering it was Mother’s Day evening. My family and I ordered the All-American feast, which was perfect for the 5 of us. The full slab of baby back ribs was a bit tough but okay with their Rich and Sassy sauce. We weren’t given enough brisket, which was really good! The chicken was only okay but, again, good with the sauce. Sides: coleslaw, beans, corn bread, corn on the cob, and French fries. They were all well made! The corn bread was a bit too crumbly because one fell apart as soon as I picked it up. Place is great for only alright for BBQ. Baby back ribs should be more tender and less dry!

Best corn bread ever! Famous Daves is well known for their ribs and my friends told me they were delicious but I got the catfish which I thought was pretty good. My dad and brother split the full rack which also came with two sides and it was more than enough for them. I love the atmosphere it’s super friendly and everyone’s full of smiles having a great time. I’d definitely come back!

Was shopping at the Gilroy outlets and decided to pick up BBQ before heading back to SJ for dinner with the roommate’s family. Before we headed to Gilroy, I had looked up some dinner options on Unilocal and found Famous Daves. Thought I’d check this off my list and give them a shot! We didn’t call in our order, so we went straight to the take out area and placed our order. For those who haven’t gotten take out here, it’s a completely different entrance to the left of the restaurant entrance. But there’s lots of signage so you’ll see it before you enter the restaurant. It took about 20 mins to get our order. There were several people ahead of us so the wait time wasn’t too bad. The Manhandler w/Garlic red-skin mashed potatoes($ 10.99) — Georgia chopped pork piled high with hot link sausage and topped with hell fire pickles Needed sauce as the meat was kind of dry. Also the pickles didn’t have much of a kick for being called hell fire pickles. But I loved the garlic mash. Nice, creamy and garlicky! Georgia chopped pork w/Creamy coleslaw & Grilled pineapple steaks and a Corn bread muffin($ 13.99) — their award winning bbq pork is smoked for up to 12 hours and chopped to order I had the chopped pork from the Manhandler so I didn’t try this one. The coleslaw was a little to sweet and tangy for me. Nothing a little hot sauce couldn’t easily fix! Didn’t have the grilled pineapple as I don’t like warm fruit. And I don’t like cornbread so I didn’t try that either. St Louis-style spareribs w/Wilbur beans & Dave’s cheesy mac & cheese and a Corn bread muffin($ 14.99 for 1⁄3 slab) — hand rubbed with Dave’s secret blend of special spices and pit smoked for 3 – 4 hours over a smoldering hickory fire, then slathered with sauce over an open flame to seal in the flavor and give them a crispy caramelized coating The ribs fell off the bone! So tender and juicy! The mac & cheese had jalapeño in it so it had a great kick! I loved the mac & cheese! I don’t like beans so I didn’t try that side dish. Feast for two($ 39.99) — half a slab of St Louis-style spareribs, half a Country roasted chicken, ¼ lb of Texas beef brisket(you can choose Georgia chopped pork instead if you prefer), Creamy coleslaw, Famous fries, Dave’s cheesy mac & cheese(swapped out the Wilbur beans), four pieces of Fresh sweet corn and two corn bread muffins The brisket was dry and needed sauce, but the chicken was nice and moist. I can’t remember how the corn tasted so it was probably average. Can’t really go wrong with fresh corn if it’s decently cooked! So the description for this feast says this feeds 2 – 3 people. I think this could easily feed 4 – 5 people. There was sooo much food! I ordered this for me and the roommate, but we didn’t come close to finishing it with the Manhandler he also ordered. Left the rest for his brother as leftovers. It’s hard finding good bbq in SF, so it was nice finding a decent bbq joint in Gilroy. I would skip the chopped pork, brisket and slaw next time, but still a solid bbq joint for the South bay!
