Went there with my family for the super bowl and service was excellent. Our server(Vince) was very attentive and quick! He was very friendly and helpful. The manager was very attentive as well, she’s a hardworking lady. She was going around picking up plates off tables bringing out food and going around asking if everything was fine! Wow! This is the only manager I’ve seen come out often and I eat at this location a lot so I was very impressed and very pleased.

The food tasted like it was heavily salted. Bartender was attentive and friendly. Won’t return for the food.

Chevy’s in Gilroy is a basic family Mexican restaurant. I’ve taken my family here off and on for six years. The food is pretty good and the staff seem to get along and appear to be happy and to have positive attitudes. The wait for a table is never too long and the food comes promptly. Tonight we had the pleasure of Olivia as our waitress. She used to bus tables but has moved up to serving. She was great at her job and gave the best sevice we have had in a long time from any server or any restaurant.

It’s so sad to see what’s happened to Chevy’s! We stopped to have a margarita and a snack and it seemed like a ghost town inside. We remembered the days when you could actually smell the delicious food when entering the restaurant! Our server was wonderful but the chips were cold and stale and the queso dip was ice cold so we had to dig it out of the bowl to spread it on our chips. We opted not to order anything else because it didn’t look like anyone was enjoying their food and the queso dip was beyond disappointing. Thank goodness the salsa was still delicious. Hubby suggested we sneak a bag of Doritos in with us if we go back.

This place was alright. It definitely could have been a lot better. We came in with a big group and the restaurant was really crowded so I can’t fault the staff too much for how slow everything was but we did call ahead of time to let them know. It was just painfully slow here. I got a few drinks and they do pour kind of weak here(just a heads up). They also ran out of the cheap whiskey so I ended up having to buy more expensive, which I wasn’t too happy about. The best part was the chips and salsa. They were actually really good. I probably ate too much of them haha. I ended up getting the shrimp and lobster quesadilla. It was not fresh by any means. It was extremely fishy. I just had it sent back and ate salsa and chips the rest of the time we were there. Not impressed at all by it. Overall, The food seems to be hit or miss. Some of us enjoyed the food and a lot of us didn’t. The only thing we all agreed on was that the chips and salsa were great.

If I could chose no star I would. I ordered water drank some. It was a VERYDIRTY glass with strawberries and foam all inside it. Hadn’t even seen a dishwasher. I’m allergic to strawberries. Manager didn’t comp the meal. Won’t be back. Dirty dishes and dirty restaurant.

Chevys used to be a great place for Mexican food that we not your standard smashed beans and rice. It seems that this location has given up on just about everything. The food was not near the quality that other Chevys in the past. We only ate about part of it and decided to go somewhere else. The service was indifferent. As if they really did not care if you were there or not. Someone really needs to come in and turn this place around. Will not be back.

Stopped in for lunch during a Sunday ride. Not much of a crowd @ 2:00pm. Sat in the bar so I could watch a ball game and not deal with the«family group» noise in the dining room. Pleasant atmosphere. Very nice staff. Clean place. Had a great Caesar salad. I’ll return!

What happened to this place? My recent visit was with my husband and son, it was on a fairly quiet Sunday afternoon. It didn’t seem as busy but still a 10 minute wait. It was a hot day and we needed to sit down from all the back to school errand running, we opted the 10 minute wait and sat in the bar area. We were given chips and salsa right away, then a server comes later to take our drink order. After 10 minutes we gave our food order. My son had their chicken strips, my husband had the fajita burrito and I had the steak quesadilla. My steak quesadilla looked like it was made, then put under a warm lamp. The cheese was almost solid vs being melted and the torilla was hard. I came here alot during high school/college and the food would cover the plate. Portions definitley got smaller and the tastes isn’t the same. I do have to admit that their happy hour is still pretty legit. Anyway, our server was great and very accommodating, I just don’t know if I would be come back any time soon… to be continued.

Took forever to get drinks and our food. We were there for 2 hours and there was 6 of us. And we had to be somewhere. Our waiter was awesome… just lacked speed. And the food was«meh». Nothing great. And certainly wasn’t cheap. Won’t go back.

First off I would like to point out that I eat«mostly» vegetarian and my girlfriend is vegan. With that being said we have to get creative when it comes to eating out or getting food to go. We depend on restaurants to understand and respect those choices as well as be educated to what those things mean. Tonight we decided to order the Mesquite-Grilled Veggie Burritos that we both enjoy occasionally when we just don’t feel like cooking at home. Before heading home from running some Saturday errands we called in our order. I clearly asked for 2 veggie burritos and requested that 1 of them had no cheese. The person on the phone repeated that back to me and then asked me what kind of beans we want. I clearly responded with the answer«which ever ones you offer that are vegetarian». The person on the phone then responds with a name of some sort of beans which I did not recognize. I respond back«sure as long as they are vegetarian. We clarified that same thing one more time and I felt pretty confident the order taker understood the importance of it. We then arrive a couple minutes early and check in with the girl at the front desk. She was very friendly and informed us that our order was almost ready. Shortly after she came back with our food and placed them in a bag. Telling us that that the one on the bottom has no cheese. We paid the bill and headed home. When we got home and opened our food and began eating we quickly realized that the beans had meat in them and both burritos had cheese in them. It is very frustrating when you order food and get home to realize it’s wrong. It’s not like we can just send it back to be remade and we certainly aren’t going to drive all the way back. We wasted our money on food we didn’t ask for and could not eat. After looking it up on the Chevys webpage I determined we were given the Beans ala Chara and also determined that Chevys does specifically offer vegetarian beans. To summarize: The Mesquite-Grilled Veggie burritos are delicious! Customer service came across as friendly and professional. However in the end they failed to get our order right leaving us unsatisfied and hungry.

I’ve only been to one other Chevy’s and after that experience, said I’d never go to another one. As luck would have it, we couldn’t find a place open late so we decided to give them another try. Still no good. In the land of great Mexican food, there is no need to go to a chain — ever. Our appetizer came after our dinner was served and wasn’t edible(Queso). It tasted like sweetened plastic. Just gross. The server never apologized for the lateness of the dish nor did he ask why we didn’t eat it. When our meals arrived, they were stone cold. Just gross. We paid for a $ 40 meal that wasn’t worth $ 4.

This is ridiculous Mothers Day Lunch and 30 minute wait and a lot of empty seats and unbused tables. Employees bull shiting and not cleaning tables. What’s worst is the manager not telling his employees to clean tables and seat customers at empty seat.

My sis and I came here with my son becuz she loves this place even though I’ve never been fond of it. My experience today reinforced that. We sat in the bar section & though there was only 1 more party there, I am still dumbfounded on why we got poor service. I ordered a margarita & water, a soda for my son & my sis got a beer. My margarita never came yet I was still charged for it; I had to hunt down the waiter for a soda refill & when my sis ordered another beer, she was told they had run out cuz it was a busy weekend(never have I heard that excuse). In terms of food, i got the surf and turf since I had eaten it before… That was good. I ordered the kids chicken fajita figuring it had some veggies given that fajitas have them… wrong! Basically it was just pieces of chicken, more like for chicken tacos & sadly, they were bland & dried out! Aside from the fact that the place was hot/stuffy(how come no opening of windows/ac?) & the lack of service/attention, my sis had to go to the front to ask for the bill, a box and a refill. No excuse for the lack of service given that there was a total of 2 parties!! when I brought this up to the host in the front, he looked irritated & didn’t seem to recognize my disappointment when I voiced it, perhaps it was because he had to hang up his call, I don’t know at this point. Now I know why I don’t frequent this place. To remedy my experienced, I was offered coupons, what would have suffice would have been an apology & maybe comp my son’s lunch(the kid menu fajita) I didn’t take the coupons. Why would I come back to a place that failed in customer service?

I’m not really a Chevys fan to begin with, but some family members really wanted to come and I must say the experience reinforced my negative opinion on this restaurant. We can for happy hour, the entire bar section was extremely hot. I’m not sure if the air conditioning was broken or something but it seemed hotter indoors than out. It took a while for a server to acknowledge us, we didn’t have a drink menu, and when we finally did get around to ordering drinks it took about 15 minutes for them to come back with our drinks and take our food order. The food took so long to come out, we had already gone through 3 refills of chips and salsa and 2 refills on drinks until the food finally came out. The fish tacos were semi warm, not hot at all. The carnitas fajitas were extremely bland, the chicken fajitas were very dry. It took about 45 minutes for the food to come out and it wasn’t even good. Overall just a bad experience at Chevys.

My family went to Chevy’s last night for dinner. Dinner was fine, service was good but when it came time to use the bathroom, Ugh! Disgusting! I went into the women’s bathroom and went in to first stall.(the other stall was out of order) I noticed a huge clump of toilet paper in the toilet. I flushed so I could use it but it started to over flow. Told the manager, she let me use the men’s. I used it, flushed it and then the water started rising and then I looked down and water was coming up out of the drain that was on the ground. It was disgusting. The whole plumbing system in the bathroom is shot. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like! The restrooms were now both out of order. The right thing to do would be to let every customer that was coming in know the bathrooms were out of order. Then they could decide if they still wanted to stay.
