Seems to be a budding franchise. The fact that they specialize in gluten-free food made it very appealing to me even though I don’t need to eat gluten-free. I was particularly interested in the grain bowls – so i got the kalua bowl. All the components were delicious – i just wish it came with a little bit more sauce. We also had one of the pizzas, can’t recall which one, that was also good for a gluten free pizza. You may not get the satisfaction(guilt) of eating a traditional crust, but the toppings and the seasoning in the crust make up for it. It could easily fool any pizza lover.

Love the barefoot bowl so much that I’m afraid I will go broke eating here. Great service, cute restaurant-will definitely be back many times!

I love every single menu item here. Their small size(gluten-free!!!) pizzas are good for two people or two meals and are filled with toppings! These are pizzas I don’t feel bad about eating either… My favorite are the Maui Luau and the Kuala Pig pizzas. Ok so this place also has amazing grain bowls. Both the Bi Bim Bowl and the Barefoot Bowl has kale which is cooked perfectly with so much flavor. Check in on Unilocal and get $ 2 off too! Also, if you’re missing Hawaiian coconut shrimp, THISISTHEPLACETOGETIT. Maui Brick Oven is the perfect place for any meal including to-gos. The service is super quick and the staff is very friendly. If it’s your first time, just walk up to the register and order there, take a seat, and wait for your food. I love that this place is gluten-free and that they’re part of Memphis’s Project Greenfork!

I love this place, and not just because I adore Dana. If I lived near here I would be in serious trouble, but fortunately I only come here when I am riding my horse… which unfortunately for THEM means that I look and smell like dirt. Everything is gluten-free but if you don’t need to be gluten-free, don’t let that deter you. I wouldn’t have even known if I hadn’t been told aka the food is phenomenal… especially those pizzas. And if you check-in on Unilocal, they give you $ 2 off their grain bowls! They were also the first and only restaurant in Germantown to be Project Greenfork certified and they buy local ingredients/produce whenever they can. Cute place and I hope it keeps doing well. Right next door to Panera and plenty of parking.

I loved Maui Brick Oven! I’m not sure if everything is gluten free but I’m pretty sure all the pizzas are. The ingredients are supposed to be as locally sourced and organic as possible. I, for one, do not have celiac disease not do I buy into the whole gluten free as a fad diet for those that do not have a legitimate medical condition but having said this… everything I had was phenomenal. I started out with a caprese salad which would’ve been delicious had the tomato been ripe. I’m not sure why they didn’t have better tomatoes because they are readily available and beginning to be in season around here right now. We ordered a large half cheese half Maui Luau but we subbed pepperoni in place of the ham. The crust was super thin yet spongy/crispy like a corn meal crust and VERY good! I’ve said it before, we are so that large pizza was a goner once it hit the table(In our defense the crust was really thin). So after the pizza we went really overboard and decided to order dessert. I ordered an ice cream float and Carter ordered their brownie. My float was great but it’s not really hard to get that right. They have a section of sodas IBC root beer and black cherry soda, various Jarritos, and some other ones like ginger beer. Not exactly an extensive craft soda selection since most of the options were mainstream but my boyfriend was happily surprised at the option for a ginger beer instead of just your typical coke products(I chose an IBC root beer to go with my 2 scoops of vanilla bean). Carter’s brownie was obviously gluten free but OMG was it delicious!!! I normally have no desire to get the typical brownie a la mode but the next time we get back out this way I will definitely save room for one of their brownies! Man. So all in all I thought the food commanded a solid 4 stars but in addition to the obvious thought that went into designing the menu, we had multiple staff members come and check on us and the manager(?) personally came out to every table to ask how everyone’s experience was. It’s a small gesture but it definitely didn’t go unnoticed. That bumps my experience up to a 5.

We did take-out with Chef’s Shuttle so I have not eaten in the restaurant. The Polynesian pizza was missing a couple of items listed on the menu and was without a doubt the greasiest pizza I have ever seen. The cardboard round was unable to absorb it all so grease was floating on it and actually dripped from the slices. The Barefoot Bowl had tasty ingredients but was missing the sauce. The salad also had tasty components but the bleu cheese dressing was gray and there was no way I was going to eat it. I feel sure the errors in the order would have been corrected in the restaurant but it appeared the order was allowed to be sent out without anyone checking for accuracy. I wanted pineapple and pepperoni on my pizza! I ordered a pizza with pineapple and pepperoni! It was disappointing.

Who would have thought that a pizza spot next to a Panera bread could wow me on a weeknight? Maui Brick Oven did. Situated on Poplar Avenue in Germantown just a bit from the Methodist Germantown Hospital, Maui Brick Oven serves tasty, freshly made pizza that is gluten free. Yes, that’s correct. Memphis, Tennessee has a gluten free pizza restaurant. And you will not know the difference. I was fortunate enough to eat at Maui Brick Oven for a Memphis Unilocal Elite event, and I sampled a wide variety of items, including some specials(crab spring rolls /roasted brussels sprouts = tasty). Checking in gets you a future coupon for $ 2 off a grain bowl, of which there are several delicious options to try, including the Pollo bowl with rice, beans, chicken, jalapeño, avocado, pico and more. Good stuff. But let’s not kid ourselves — this place is about the pizza. The Maui Luau is a house specialty — your typical Hawaiian but kicked up a notch with bacon. And it’s gluten free, remember? The Kalua Pig is MBO’s version of the BBQ chicken pizza except it’s got pork on it, not chicken. There are special pizzas, as well. A slight downgrade to 4 stars because they do not serve wine. Which is disappointing because some people like to have a glass of wine with a meal. But there are some good beer choices, and plenty of non-alcoholic selections. My favorite fact, though, is that this«chain» currently consists of two locations in the world — Germantown, TN and Maui, HI. Well played. I am in for four stars and am excited to take my family for a gluten free meal in the near future.

This place is ABSOLUTELY perfect for Germantown! This place is so much more than just pizza, their options are endless! And what a great location! Growing up, my friends and I only had Chili’s, so I’m glad to see some GOOD food options popping up! I am one of those that can sometimes get thrown off by the whole gluten-free movement, but dayuummmmmm their pizza was good! Honestly, we should be more aware of what we eat/how our food is made, so I give them major kudos. They are also apart of Project Green Fork, not sure many other restaurants can say that! What does this mean? This means they recycle, use sustainable packaging, compost kitchen waste, conserve energy, prevent pollution, and use non toxic cleaning supplies. You have to respect their commitment to both our community and the environment :)! All-in-all, this place is wonderful. Please give them a try! You will not be disappointed!

After having dined here a couple of times, I was left disappointed both times. Sure, the pizzas are different, and I sure love that people have more pizza choices in Germantown. But those grain bowls are disappointing. I would not get a grain bowl here unless there’s something new to try. Either they totally messed up my pollo, kalua, and bi bim bowls, or that they are just too light on my palate. I’m checking out facebook pictures. That 5 Spice Grilled Shrimp Bowl looks amazing, but it wasn’t available when I was there. What’s worse is that the picture of the pollo bowl looks amazing. What I got here wasn’t even close. And I also found a picture of the kalua bowl on the Maui location’s page. And what I got here was even further from that!!! What’s that all about? Inconsistency?!? So I took the liberty of checking out the rest of the menu on its Maui location, and I wish we had more items they serve there on our menu here. Items like calamari, spaghetti, and fish & chips might make me real happy. In conclusion, if it’s an inconsistency problem, maybe I need to check the place out again and report it to the manager now that I know what the grain bowls should look like. Or just stick to the appetizers and pizza. I don’t have any gluten-related disorders, so Maui Brick Oven have to compete with almost all the other pizza joints in town. Rock ‘N Dough would likely see my money when I have my pizza cravings.

More than just a pizza joint(that’s all gluten free) sure the pizzas are great. I love pineapple on my pizza and it was obviously fresh cut not from a can. Also tried the Brussel sprouts and yes they were very good, who knew!!! They have great beer selection for a non-bar and lots of «bowls» that looked amazing. I give it a must try even if you don’t have celiac disease(or are just part of the gluten free craze).

Lucky you Germantown! You have a place that is healthy and bursting with flavor!!! The pollo bowl and Polynesian pie are two things you do not want to miss out on. Everything is gluten free but it’s all still banging! I love this place. Idk how we got so lucky to get it here in Memphis but I’m glad we do. I will be back to try more. Oh I will also add that the mozzarella sticks(or LOGS) and the coconut are definitely some of the best in town.

Whoever would have thought Gluten free foods were good! This place not only offers pizza, but grain bowls, mozzarella sticks, brussel sprouts, spring rolls, fried shrimp, and other delicious appetizers! I visited this place yesterday for a Unilocal elite event. It is located in a shopping center, therefore it is hard to spot if you are just driving by. The manager and workers were really courteous. I got a chance to try the bbq, pepperoni, & specialty pizzas, and other treats as well. The bbq pizza was my favorite!!! Hey… I’m from Memphis. got to love BBQ! I try not to eat too much bread, because it feels like it is stuck in my throat(lol…life of a GERDER), and for sure I thought this would happen, but it didn’t. Their pizza is on thin crust, and the sauce is really good. I’m really big on how well the sauce is on pizzas, and it was truly good. I’m ready to visit again and spread the news to my family and friends!

We came here on a whim and were blown away. First off, the food is great and the quality is fabulous. The staff was super helpful and friendly. The crust is gluten free and it tastes great. I would suggest this to anyone in the area to give it a try. It is not a typical pizza joint and a very welcomed addition to the food offerings in Germantown.

Finally got out to Germantown to try this. Have stopped by a few times before only to learn they were closed. They don’t open on Monday’s and close through the week at 8:00. As it is a gluten free kitchen, it was on my «must do» list. At first, I was thrown off by the smell when I walked in the door. There was no good-food-being-cooked-here smell wafting to greet me. Nothing smelled badly; I was just expecting something else. Despite my questionable first impressions, the food was good. The food was safe! It is so nice not to have to play Russian roulette with my health when ordering from a restaurant menu. There are also plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans. I had fried cheese sticks and pizza with BBQ sauce and pineapple. I haven’t had fried cheese sticks in years! I will return. I, selfishly, wish this was located in east Memphis or midtown though.

I was very excited to try this place and excited that it was available in Germantown. My 3 stars rating is an overall rating where some things warranted higher or lower. I ordered the Kalua Bowl initially which had the potential to be great but unfortunately the rice was undercooked. I tried to ignore it but couldn’t. The very friendly manager suggested the Barefoot Bowl. This bowl was perfectly cooked and delicious. I highly recommend it. Cons: they seem to be working out kinks, forgetting my water, and undercooked rice. Pros: Hawaiian(ish) food in Germantown. Barefoot Bowl. Friendly staff(not polished but trying). Paper«to go» boxes vs styrofoam.

The pizza here is amazing! Everything is Gluten-Free, so for those that are looking for that… here it is! The pizza that we had was a large: half Polynesian Pie /half Kalua Pig. The Polynesian is spicy pepperoni, bacon, onions with sweet Thai chili sauce and mozzarella/fontina. The Kalua Pig is braised pork shoulder, onions with mozzarella and Memphis-style barbecue red sauce. We had an appetizer in the form of Chicken Tenders, with fries. Those were good too! The Tenders have a crunchy shell, which I like. Ask for ranch; the way they make it is none other than I have ever tasted. For drinks, if you order their soda bottles, it is imported from Mexico, so it is made from sugar, instead of high-fructose corn syrup that is mostly found in every other soda beverage in the US. The service was great! And so was the setting! You can’t go wrong making a stop here! The only other Maui Brick Oven is located in Maui, Hawaii!

I enjoyed this island taste. The ambiance is real casual, and they have a nice selection of beers, and an even sweeter selection of non alcoholic craft beverages, like cream sodas. The Kahlua bowl was nicely presented. That pork braised with pineapple juice was succulent. Now for the pizza: I’m no fan of gluten free anything, but this dough was crispy and tasty. Even reheating this pie as leftover lunch is great for snacking. I went with the Polynesian Pie, the cheese was ample, as if I ordered extra cheese. The other toppings are sliced thin, so it is elegant. The staff is friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely go back again and ask for a custom pizza. With SPAM.

We were excited to try this new Germantown business. All seemed good from the healthy menu to the inclusion of craft beers. It is a walk in, order at the counter set up. We got a large pizza ½ barefoot vegan, ½ kalus pig. Our pizza came out quickly, but we were underwhelmed. There was just not much flavor for either style. There was grated Parmesan on the table, but it was also flavorless. I was not at all worried about going to a gluten free place, but maybe that was it. We’ll go back after they have been open a bit to try the bowls. They looked great.

New gluten free restaurant in Germantown serving pizzas, salads, some appetizers, and grain bowls. Almost all food has a Hawaiian flare/flavor as indicated in the name of the establishment. This is only the first couple of weeks they have been open, but surprisingly not many kinks in operation… and everything will improve with time. I had the Kalua Bowl which was braised pork shoulder, pickled cabbage and onions, fresh pineapple, crispy potato strips, basmati rice, and a bbq red sauce. This was good and the ingredients blended well together. Also, I had the beer battered onion rings, which were great. They also serve beer! Restaurant was very clean with a good vibe. Everyone was very nice and helpful that work there. I will try again because I would like to try one of their pizzas.
