Blackrock Center For the Arts

What could be harder than picking a wedding venue??? It’s literally the most important part of the process (other than getting engaged). I felt like I looked at every possible site in the area for our 4÷18÷15 wedding. We had a budget we had to work with but didn’t want anything low end. This is a tough combination. Then we found The Blackrock Center. It was absolutely ideal for us. Easily accessible, tons of free parking, large enough to accommodate us and just a beautiful space. We got married there and had our reception there. It worked out awesome! Not only was the space a great fit, their coordinator Cindy Majane was GREAT to work with. She had great referrals of vendors, suggestions for the ceremony and was very instrumental in the planning process. Then came the Day Of. I was an older bride. I have probably been in 20 weddings. The biggest crisis I have ever seen at a wedding was my wedding! 2 of the bridesmaids dresses (my teenage nieces) had faulty zippers. They were totally broken so their backs were completely exposed. I had the emergency kit with safety pins and needle and thread — not at all helpful in this situation. I had Cindy look at the situation. She called 2 contacts, they came right over to Blackrock and sewed the girl’s right in!!! She was a life saver!!! I would highly recommend Blackrock-​the pictures were great, there was plenty of room and a great layout and Cindy is the best in the business in my book!

Wow, I had hear about this place because I know someone who works here.
I came for Kate Davis’s concert on the 1^st of November. I have never been inside. I thought it was fabulous. They have refreshments before the start of the show and during the intermission.
There is two levels of seating, they apparently don’t open the top seating until about 5 – 10 minutes before the show starts. The tickets are not that expensive and the performances are really awesome.
This is also great for kids too, there was a Nancy Fancy showing too. It is a great place for the arts.

Classes for the kids at the facility are wonderful but they are often geared towards stay at home moms. They don’t get the reality that we have to work for a living to afford these classes for the kids. They are starting to offer more late evening classes and Saturday classes instead of 15 minutes after school closes. The new art classes that teach drawing are fantastic.

My daughter has been going to Blackrock since 4^th grade and she’s now finishing her 8^th grade. As with any institution sometimes there are things that can or may happen like cancelled classes, sick teacher etc. What I like about Black rock are the teachers. They are dedicated and a true love for the art. Special mention to Ms. Kim Marshall and Mrs. Shorb. They really care about my daughter’s improvement as a dancer and I am very happy that my daughter is enjoying this experience. Now that they have a new adminstrator for education I am hoping it’s going to be even better. I love the the ambiance, the people and what the institution represents. Go Blackrock!

My 8 yr old daughter has taken 2 drama classes here and has loved it. Good environment and encourage the kids to build on their inner confidence. If your kid is shy — this is the place to be.

I love this place… it always saddens me when the venue is not completely filled to the max because every show is special and the artists are amazing. The space is small and intimate and so there is no bad seat in the place. I have to disagree with Jatte with the dress code. I think business casual is appropriate but I’ve seen everything from flip flops and jeans to more dressy attire… so do what your heart desires. Think out of the box. it is an art venue ;-)!

I can’t really give this place a rating. Of course I feel like a doof for bing the fist person to actually have the audacity and guts to write this review. I went there for a family oriented award and of course my family is like it’s a casual dressy occasion because I wasn’t sure what to wear so I decide to go formal and I’m so glad I did because when you walk in you feel as if the world enlarged if that even makes sense.
Anyway I suggest wearing suit and tie for any occasion.
