A ‘la Mode Salon Germantown

I set up an appointment, explain to the receptionist I needed a color correction but above all a haircut. She quoted me $ 100. When I arrived there I waited 25 min past my scheduled time.
Then the hairdresser called in the owner Michelle for advice on how to proceed. Michelle was adamant about 3 color changes otherwise my hair couldn’t be done. Before starting I asked about pricing and Michelle said it would be at least $ 225 without style or cut. Fine but I only had $ 200 and I really needed a cut. So I asked her if we can just do one process and the cut instead. Or if i needed to call my husband so he can bring more cash. The place didn’t take credit cards or so i was told.
At that point, michelle got snappy and told me that I don’t appreciate the work that needs to be put in. Also that it would take a whole day. And concluded that and I quote: «we won’t provide any services for you, thank you, you can go» I asked about getting a haircut but she insisted. «no, I’m not comfortable having the stylist working on your hair. I don’t want you to blame us or write a bad review»
I was in tears. I was not offered other option, no one suggested anther appointment.
Once I walked out, I went to the Salon at Macy’s in Collierville.
A young lady named Gabrielle took me in and in two hours, and a free deep treatment and a superb pixy cut I was platinum blonde no brass no ruined hair and it was $ 80. I left Gabrielle a 50% tip I was so happy. Here attached are the pics from my haircut and color at the salon @ Macys NOT at ALa Mode.
So unless you want to spend a boat load of $$$ for something that can be done elsewhere faster better and with less BS and pretentious airs — stay away.
Not to mention that the receptionist in question was Michelle’s daughter and she simply hung up on my husband when he called to get an explanation for why I was so distraught. Twice.
There are better salons and better mannered and skilled real professionals out there.

Ask for Andrea! She is so sweet and so great at what she does! I needed an emergency hair style for a wedding and she helped me out with only a one day notice! She is the best!

I have been going to A La Mode for around 6 years. Maybe more. I started coming here after Kanette’s closed and wanted to follow Andrea. Andrea is the best. I highly recommend you get in touch with her. She always cuts/​styles my hair so quickly and flawlessly. Thats saying a lot because I have thick, course, obnoxious hair that can’t be tamed 60% of the time. She has also never done anything drastic. I made the mistake of venturing out one time at an east memphis salon and this guy had a hay day with it. I got ice cream after and maybe cried.
As far as the actual salon it is always so clean and welcoming. They just remodeled the front room and it looks better than ever. Very modern. The front desk people are always so friendly. There used to be an older woman who knew me by name, but I haven’t seen her in awhile so I’m assuming she’s gone :(. I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else though. The prices are great, atleast Andreas. Love it!

So glad I found this salon right by my work in Germantown! Great place very affordable, clean and nice staff. They also offer manicures and pedicures.
Andrea is the best she does a great job with my hair every time… from cut to highlights and styling… go see her she is sweet and super friendly you will love her!

Ask for Andrea. She is so sweet and professional. She listens to what you want and actually does it instead of some hairdressers who try and push their own style to you.

Absolutely THE place to go if you are anywhere in the Memohis area. May be hard to get appointment but persevere! Michelle is one of the owners and I love her but there are no wrong choices here. And don’t be fooled by the swanky interior– its fabulous — but the prices are competitive with other salons in the area. You. leave feeling lioved and cared for and pretty and pampered. And you can trust that they won’t do something crazy unless that’s what you want. Have been going there for years– the stylists are admittedly all young and gorgeous but I still feel right at home.

This is a great little salon. My hairdresser is extremely friendly and professional. Just ask for Susan! Because I’ve been to so many stylists before, I can say she is top-​notch and a very caring person. She takes all ages.
