Wilshire’s, a house originally built in 1790 by General John Payne, is quite nice. It sits on a golf course in a residential area. The interior is bright and airy owing to the very large windows. There is also a covered patio, with occasional music. I ordered the Cowboy Salad. While there was a goodly portion of sirloin, medium rare to my request, the rest of the salad was ho-hum boring. A better selection of greens would have helped, rather than the«white» lettuce, and red onions instead of white. There were a few pieces of red pepper and some soggy fries on top. The crumbled blue cheese in the description on the menu was not there. That was it! I’m always amazed at restaurants that put forth dishes like this. Had my dinner companion not been a regular, I would have complained heartily. My two martinis saved the meal as they turned out to be the best of it. I do like the place itself, but if they can’t even put together a decent salad, I can’t imagine going back.

This place is the hidden gem of Georgetown. I’m not sure why it’s not categorized as a restaurant. I’m sure you can reserve it for events, but it is a restaurant. I’ve lived in Georgetown for two years and had no idea this place existed. It’s inside of a subdivision, so you would never happen upon it. But, it’s amazing. A friend told me about it and suggested it for lunch. They have a beautiful stone exterior and the interior is dark wood. The bathrooms are beautiful. They have a full bar. Outside, there is a gorgeous covered patio I can’t wait to try in the summer. The food ranges from sandwiches and salads to comfort food and steaks. I had the grilled chicken sandwich and hand cut fries for lunch. It was excellent. Service was good. My food was $ 8 which I thought was reasonably priced. It was classy without being overly expensive. They have a room with a fireplace and votive candles on the tables. I imagine there is romantic evening ambiance. I haven’t been there for dinner yet, but I will be back. You must go here if you live in Georgetown.

Service was good. Food was good. The water tasted like dirt. It was so bad even a lemon didn’t help. I wouldn’t go again based on the taste of the water alone.

Don was friendly, approachable, and easy to work with from the start. Although all our communication was via email until a few days prior(which made me nervous without a contract), he and his team put together a delicious meal and relaxed atmosphere for our party to convene for our wedding rehearsal dinner. They even allowed us to put out lawn games for our dinner on the patio. Chuck was our direct contact throughout the evening & was a pleasure to work with. We wanted a place that offered alcohol without requiring the bride & groom to front the bill — they did just that. The majority of their desserts are made off-site, so unfortunately the desserts were the least enjoyable portion of the meal. Overall however, we were extremely satisfied. Providing you do not require structured organization prior to the event, we definitely recommend their restaurant!
