Bar Louie

This location is the epitome of a delightful as well as tasty dining experience. The staff are all amazing. Especially Barrett, one of the bar tenders who is always outstanding at what he does. If you have ever had a bad experience here I recommend coming at a time when he is working. Love this place. But I’m just some guy on the Internet. Why don’t you just come check out this place for yourself, instead of taking another persons word for it. Because after all we are all different and like different things…

Ridiculous! How hard is it to order a salad with lettuce and they get the lettuce wrong?! Added cooked salmon, but came out extremely raw, so they took it back… waited another 15 minutes for it to come back with half the piece cooked and other still raw. Management was rude with walking past the table 3 times when he was told by his server of the issue. Came over with a chip on his shoulder. And final note– the restaurant was slow, so there are no excuses.

I used to enjoy coming here, but the last few times were very unpleasant. I came in on a Friday night with a friend after work and our server made us uncomfortable. We couldn’t tell if he was generally awkward or if he was trying to flirt with us. Whatever the case may be, as two 18 year old girls, we were put off. The food was ok, and the live music was too loud for us to properly hear each other. The same friend and I went back a following week, and we had the same awkward guy who, again, weirded us out. Later on in the night two more of our friends joined us and were not blown away by the food. Probably will not go back for a while.

Service was extremely slow to non-​existent. Food was mediocre at best. No reason to consider a return visit ever.

Paid $ 15 for the new years eve cover and it was literally the worst money paid. Terrible band that all they cared about was getting wasted and hitting on really young girls. Tried making jokes that were horrible. Our server was super nice, but everyone ditched her and left her for the only server. Took 30 minutes till she was able to get to us. Management needs to rethink their new years eve special that they hold. I feel scammed.

Sometimes I think that the overall rating for places (like Bar Louie) seem a bit harsh. And sometimes they’re right.on.the.money.
Coming here for a late lunch on 11÷27÷15 [the worst shopping day of the year] was a mistake. It was a solid 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged my presence. Last time I looked in the mirror I had a reflection, therefore I’m neither: A) a vampire B) invisible, so what gives?
Attractive, smiling waitresses passed by me no fewer than a dozen times, yet they continued to ignore me… were it not for the nice, bald-​headed bartender leaving his zone to take my order, I’m convinced that no one would’ve attended to me at all. I felt for him, he shouldn’t have had to step up the way he did, considering that I was sitting at a side table, not the bar.
Alas, it took a while for my beer and even longer for simple food (upwards of 20 minutes, folks). A young couple arrived a quarter hour after I got my food order in and they got theirs well before I did, yet we ordered the exact same thing. How exactly does that happen?
Apparently the busboys took the day off to go Black Friday shopping, since more than a handful of tables and booths were cluttered with half-​empty water glasses and dirty plates. Maybe a few servers and the manager went with them, since chaos and disorder reigned over this place.
Pretzel rods are a Bar Louie staple but they somehow bollocksed that up too, as they were decidedly not as soft as they should be/​normally are. And their ‘loaded’ cheese fries were little more than house fries with giardiniera sprinkled on top. All for the low low price of $ 9.75, yeahnothanks. Honestly, this place isn’t even deserving of my bread + circuses, but they’re gonna get one regardless:

Circuses = 1.5
Grossly understaffed/​disorganized. Makes my Oak Park Bar Louie look like a Michelin-​starred restaurant (which it is not). GAAAHHHH

We were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good! My daughter had pasta white alfredo sauce and I had the California chicken sandwich, my husband had the bbq burger. Our waitress Blyth was fabulous. We will be going back. I would have given 5 stars if they had raspberry iced tea… i settled for the mango which was ok. Ill try the blackberry next time.

The server was great, the atmosphere was nice, but the food wasn’t. I had the chop chop salad and it was disappointing. My husband had the chicken sandwich and had this comment, «where’s the chicken?» The food was very bland. We will not be returning.

Unfortunate. Poor customer service translates into less profit. Doesnt management get this. Waiting 15 minutes for two drinks when the place is empty is unacceptable. Too bad… nice décor and cozy ambience but you need it all which includes good food and great service

I visited around 2:30pm on a Sunday for a late lunch. Not too many people in the bar area, about 5 tables still had not been cleared of dirty dishes. This was my sign that I should have left and gone next door to Houlihan’s. The waiter/​bar tender came over and got our drink order and then our food order in a fairly time order. I ordered a Mac n Cheese sandwich with pulled pork and fries. I was excited about trying it, and then it came out. My sandwich was room temperature and the Mac n Cheese looked as if had been sitting out for a few hours, the slice of cheese that was put on top of it was bairly melted and the pulled pork was bairly there and had peppers in it and no BBQ sauce. The bread was drenched in butter, my fingers were shiny and greasy with every bit. My fries were also basically at room temperature. I did not each much of it.
After we ‘finished’ lunch the waiter came over and I told him. He was friendly and said he was disappointed to hear that I didn’t enjoy the food. Then he went back to the bar for a long period before finally catching eye contact with him and me having to ask for the check. My sandwich was taken off our check, however I will never go back. If they came handle a simple sandwich on their off hours, I’m afraid it see it when it’s busy. If it ever does get busy.

The food quality, customer service and price point are not good. This is the second time I have eaten there and it will be the last. Our food took over 40 minutes to come out. Our bar tender /​waitress was indifferent to the delay and was overwhelmed by the other one table she was serving.
If you are looking for place to watch a game and have a burger and beer save yourself a headache and go to Buffalo Wild Wings.

Yummy place! The waitress was very kind and quick! We ordered their dollar burger and it was delicious. It is clean inside and the prices are very decent. If you like American food, check this place out! :)

My wife and I have been going to Bar Louie in Geneva since they opened a while back. Last weekend I took a new employee and his wife for dinner to get to know them more. The appetizers were good, but the entrees are pretty consistently bland. The fish and chips was «okay», and the burgers everyone else got were lackluster. That’s been somewhat common, but that isn’t the reason for my review today.
After we ate dinner the other night while driving to ACK for dessert my throat started to get itchy. After dessert I headed home and called it a night, but when I went to bed my throat felt like it was constricting and it was pretty uncomfortable. When I asked my wife she said that she was suffering from the same thing. At the time I thought nothing of it and that we might have gotten some sort of cold or the like… But when I asked my new team member about it, he and his wife had both experienced the same thing.
For appetizers we got the somewhat usual pretzel dip and pita /​hummus. Those were the only items that we all shared… but something in the ingredients had caused pretty serious discomfort to multiple people’s (and I have no allergies) throats.
I’m a touch surprised I didn’t see this in the news or the like. I feel like what occurred was deserving of a one star review, but I tempered it to a two as we’ve enjoyed meals there and it’s been a pretty decent experience outside of this.

We went to Bar Louie on a Sunday after 7^th Heaven played right there at the commons. We were a group of 7 and the place was empty. I was surprised but I figured that at least we would get good service. I was wrong. The service was very, very slow and there were lots of employees just standing around. When the food finally came, the pasta we ordered for one of the kids was too spicy. You’d think the waitress could have mentioned that to us as we were ordering but that never happened and she knew it was for a child. We had to send it back and then when dessert came, we found a hair in it! We will never be back!

Stopped in to watch the Hawks game, and found plenty of room. It was nice and relaxed inside, instead of being crowded and noisy like the other place we tried to enter. The décor is nice and my gf liked the sangria. She preferred her 2^nd one, the strawberry lemonade version over the original. I had a good burger, and she tried the flatbread pizza. It was good too, but overpriced. The staff was excellent imo, so I don’t know why others had issues. I will go back again.

So, I said in my previous review, I would be trying this again– and I regret that decision. We were at a table someone had vandalized and it had sticky water rings. Our waitress was amazing and very attentive, though. I ordered the ‘Blue Louie’ medium rare– got it well done. One of the worst burgers I’ve ever had. It tasted like sadness and desperation. Conversely, our waitress was one of my favorites I’ve ever had. She was perfect. So at least it all wasn’t bad. Just the food and cleanliness were an issue (again).

Had lunch here today, I should say begged to eat here today. Sat at the bar for quick service but received the opposite. Eight people at the bar two bartenders and no service? What are they doing, not prep, stocking, or service well? The food was bland and wrong. How can wing’s have no taste? The tator tots were great. That says a lot about a restaurant when the best thing you have going for you is a tator tot! The best part was the lackadaisical over tattooed manager telling us «guy’s» to have a goodnight. One lady, one man, equals a couple not guy’s. I guess that’s what you get at a failing concept!?!

Ok so even though the reviews were not the greatest I still wanted to try this place. Well not much to say other than the reviews don’t lie! The place is very nice inside. Great décor! But that’s all that was great. The food was not bad but over priced. And the service… Well that’s another thing! Horrible! If you don’t mind waiting forever, then this place is right up your alley! Over ten minuets to take the credit card out of the cup of the bar (yes we are at the bar, the place was NOT busy at all but there was a hockey game on) there were 2 other couples and a single guy at the bar. The bartender (female) was much more concerned with the single guy (probably one of her friends) than her other customers. Very irritating! Will NEVER go back!

Meh. Happy hour has some good deals and the beer selection is good enough, but sit at the bar because I’ve never gotten good service.

You know exactly what you’re going to get at Bar Louie — classic, American bar fare. If you’re looking for nachos, calamari, burgers, or baked mac n’ cheese, you can find it here. Bar Louie has an extensive bar menu, featuring cocktails, martinis, beer, wine, etc. I would be stunned if anyone said they couldn’t find something to eat/​drink at this place! That being said, the food is not gourmet, by any means. It’s standard fare, which is why it merits three stars.
I too have had mixed results with the service at Bar Louie. More than once, our order has taken a good 40 minutes to arrive at the table (in fact, we once waited 45 minutes only to find that my husband’s hamburger had cheese on it). But the management here has always been very apologetic for the wait/​mix-​ups, and we have greatly appreciated their attentiveness and sincerity.
