They served me macaroni and cheese that was sour– I told them it was sour and they went right and served it to two more people behind me– no one checked it or changed out the spoiled one– I got sick later that night. I love them usually but not this location

Went in just before closing, and had some really great brisket! The baked potatoes are done with salt and pepper on the outside which I don’t personally care for but it was good size. My son had the rib basket which came with fries. The tea was fresh and really good even at closing time. The chocolate fried pie wasn’t great, it was chocolate pudding wrapped in bread.

Too bad Texans don’t know how good they have it. For a couple of bucks more than a crummy fast food meal, I got a tasty, smoky, meaty brisket sandwich on a substantial, plain bun. Just delicious, and not dry at all. I also got a mac and cheese that was plain, but who cares! Because BRISKET! Yum, okay?

Wow! Ate here while visiting from Austin. I had the chopped pork sandwich plate with scalloped potatoes and the tomato salad. I recommend dumping the meat from the sandwich onto your plate, pouring the delicious bbq sauce all over it it, mixing it up and stuffing it back into the sandwich. So much better this way! I loved the sides, they tasted exactly how my east Texas grandmother used to make them. I knew I had to write a review immediately after I tasted them. My boyfriend had the 2 meat plate with brisket and ribs. The ribs were perfect, I thought the brisket was a little dry for my tastes, but he got lean and I prefer it juicy. And he had beans and potato salad — again those sides were amazing. We shared a free soft serve ice cream which I thought was great and a nice touch — not too heavy after we had already eaten generous portions. LOL This place is pure Texan from top to bottom and I really appreciate that. The barbeque sauce and sides were especially on point! Can’t wait to come back and try to fried pies. :-)

I had the house special: sandwich with two sides. I opted for the sliced brisket sandwich and my companion had the chopped beef. The chopped beef looked good and he said it was tasty. The sliced brisket was very good. The beans were good, not great. The macaroni and cheese was also good, but not outstanding. They give you a squeeze bottle of warm bbq sauce with your meal, which is a great idea, yum. There is also free soft serve ice cream for dessert. Overall, a good experience.

Good BBQ but def not the best. Got the brisket sandwich with fries & Mac n Cheese. Mac n cheese was bland. Not having again. Brisket was overall the best thing on my plate. Fries were a little underdone. To me Dickies is better and nowhere near Pecan Lodge or Lock Hart.

Best chopped beef potatoes ever! I was never a fan of BBQ potatoes until I had theirs. Their salt they use on their potatoes is just the icing on the cake! This is the only thing I’ve had from the menu, because I never want anything else but the delicious potatoes.

I get off at 7am it’s open early which is good but what’s the point of being open so earlier if you don’t make crap until 10am?! Like seriously you won’t know until you walk to the door that they aren’t serving anything until 10am it’s a waste of gas going there to eat a full meal and find out their only serving some damn pies!

I wanna give it 4 stars but we felt a little rushed when ordering. The BBQ itself was tender & juicy. The sides were generous & tasty. The fried pies were equally good . Besides service was good.

Ate here today, got the ribs on special for 12.00. I was unimpressed for the price. I’ll be back in area Friday and just go to jack n the crack.

***Note this is a review of their fried pies and NOT their BBQ.*** Considering that I have been to the Original Fried Pie shop in Davis, OK on multiple occasions I have tasted some pretty tasty pies(coconut and pecan are the best). I was expecting to get a similar pie here. Cost of the pie was roughly $ 3.75 and I ordered the coconut flavor through the drive-thru. What I received was a distasteful cold pie which was obviously made at least 6 – 8 hours in advance. The pastry shell was moist(a bit soggy) and not flakey/crispy; I will not be coming back here for dessert.

they are excellent as someone before me stated I can only vouch for this location the staff is always friendly and pleasant the food hot and juicy on the very rare occasion when something is off or missing they are just as pleasant when correcting it… If its not home cooked bbq I rarely want it but Bakers ribs in Garland on I30 is the next best thing to homemade AND I recommend them to all friends and family that want great food and a great deal for the money… I don’t even THINK of considering Dickies if Bakers has closed for the night I eat something else… Please Bakers dnt change and don’t leave… Great Eating

Excellent chopped Turkey and beef bbq with baked beans, French fries and cole slaw on the side. Fried pies were really good and tasted like they were handmade. This was great eating experience and one worth repeating.

My wife and I have been going to this location for more than 16 years. The food is always great. The brisket and ham are excellent. Ribs are hit and miss. The cobbler is fantastic. In my opinion, this is the best location in this chain.

Been here a couple times and it is good but not the best. I like Dickies better, but I would go back. It was also a bit expensive.

My favorite BBQ ever. This place smells like meaty heaven. The turkey is amazing and of course the French fries are the best. We usually hit the drive thru every so often on Sunday and the service has always been good.

Visiting from Las Vegas, and had to try a few genuine Texas BBQ joints. After a day of checking out different towns we might want to migrate to, we picked up some dinner to bring back to the hotel. This place was GREAT! I do a lot of BBQ myself at home, and I’m unimpressed with a lot BBQ restaurants. Not with Baker’s. I very, very rarely write reviews for restaurants and stores and such, but I felt that I had to leave one for this place. We had pulled pork and sliced brisket, with coleslaw and beans. The only complaint I have with the pork was that it was a tad too fatty. The flavor was good and smokey, but not too smokey. The brisket was PERFECT. Very tender — I could cut it with a plastic fork — but not overdone and falling apart. The bark had fantastic flavor. Again, a nice smokey flavor, but not overdone. The coleslaw was good. Too often, slaw is soupy, which I’m not a fan of. This slaw was well coated and moist, but not soupy at all. Rounding out the meal was the baked beans, which drew my only complaint. The flavor was good, but they overdid it with the chili powder quite a bit — it kind of drowned out everything else. The beans were why I only gave them four stars. We also got a couple of the fried pies, but haven’t had them yet. They look delicious, though.

I drive all the way to this location because it is the only one I have found that serves scalloped potatoes. I love this side. As far as the meats go, I only get two usually. Brisket has always been tender and not much fat. There is usually just one slice with some fat. The turkey is slightly juice and always fresh tasting. I wish they had homemade rolls versus the I Just Bought This Bag of White Bread bread they serve. Oh well, at least they toast their buns when you order a sandwich. I absolutely despise cold buns… no excuse for it. They sell a variety of fried pies(or you can buy frozen and cook yourself at home) but they are a tad pricey. The plus side if they are huge. The guys working the line are never rude or aloof.

I am gonna go ahead and boost the good folks off I-30 to five star status. I can only vouch for this locay. They are like always nice(fingers crossed) when I come and always patient and kind(lol). I still am lovin’ their fries. And I tried the fried pies: lemon and pecan. I preferred the pecan. Oh and FYI — I have never dined in. Just drive thru.
