I’ve eaten here over a dozen times and can honestly say this is the greatest steakhouse for the money in America. The steak is of the highest quality because there are no waiters to compensate. The menu has steak as well as ribs, chicken, salad, burgers, soup, as well as other delights. The place is decorated in a Southwestern motif and the atmosphere is casual and fun. But nothing can beat this food for the price. The owner even cooks there with the staff and takes orders! He’s one of the nicest guys around. What other place can say that? Again, the steak is their specialty and is available here in many cuts. Do yourself a favor and try one of the best steakhouses in America. You will be blown away!

I went to the Steak house last week. The experience was not what i expected at all. I saw all the reviews and wanted to go. All of the employees are dirty and do not wash their hands. The meat smelt like it was dead for years. I brought the issue to the attention of the owner. They did not accept credit card, only cash. I could not believe the customer service was this poor for a company. I have never been to a steak house that did not accept credit or debit cards. When i spoke with the owner, his response to me was «If you dont like it or my employees, do not come to this restaurant»

Horrible service!!! I called to order food and the owner was so rude on the phone! They proceeded to hang up on my face. I don’t care what the situation was as a business owner you never hang up on a customer. The food was horrible and not clean. The meat was thrown on the floor and so unsanitary. Overall, I’m not usually one to write reviews but i felt obligated to share this experience with others. Not impressed. Unbelievably disgusting service!

I am a BIG steak man and I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great steak. I like my steak cooked a certain way and i’m alway happy how they always get it just right. for the kind of service and product that they officer i would say the price is great.

Christian’s is great! I’ve been here three times and each visit was awesome.
First visit: A few co-​workers and I split the porterhouse steak. We ordered it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. The even slipped in a few filet’s which was a pleasant bonus (there were only two filet’s between the three of us… so we didn’t tell the third guy).
Second visit: I had the cheese steak with peppers and onions. Instead of sliced meat, they used a nice cut of meat and chopped it up. The garlic bread hero it came on had a nice crunch on the outside and soft of the inside.
Third visit: decided to stay away from steak this time and have a pastrami sandwich which came with swiss and mustard. The pastrami was extremely flavorful and something that I will definitely consider getting again.
All visits I had steak fries, which I typically don’t care for, but they are very good and left me wanting more. I ordered the maduros during the third visit. They were absolutely delicious.
Be forewarned: they don’t allow substitutions in any of their meals.

I really love this place. The steak never disappoints no matter what you get. The atmosphere is super chill too which is exactly my kinda scene. The way the place operates makes a ton of sense too. They don’t really have servers which I think is great. Just a staff to take orders at the register, the chefs who you can see grilling, and some bus boys. One more thing, it’s a byob which is a plus in itself, depending how you look at it.
Definitely swing by here when you’re feeling like a steak. Especially if you don’t feel like having any extra frills with your meal.

Awesome. That is all. First time there tonight and it won’t be the last. Skirt top 5 I’ve eaten in my life. No veins, cooked perfect, and best of all… Cheaper than you’ll find in a grocery store let alone a restaurant. For $ 20 I’m so full I barely made it home.
To the guy who gave 4 stars because it’s cash only, you’re crazy. There’s a lot of gems in this area that are cash only, that’s how they keep the prices down. I’d rather stop at an atm then pay what skirts normally go for at restaurants, which is usually 30 – 40 and not as perfectly cooked. This place is 5 stars all day based on what restaurants should be rated on: food quality and friendly service.

We order from there frequently. Ridiculously great steak! My husband gets the gigantic porterhouse, I order the churrasco, which usually makes for dinner that night and 2 additional lunches. Remember, the steak is what you go there for. Not the sides (although they aren’t horrible, just not inspired) and not the atmosphere, which is more like a cafeteria. We don’t mind that it’s cash only (the prices are really reasonable) we usually order takeout and are happy campers. Bottom line: ORDER ALREADY!!! You won’t be disappointed.

This place is amazing!!! The food was delicious and the char grilled prime rib was cooked to perfection. For sides I ordered the rice and beans with vegetables and I was more than satisfied. The portions were perfect and the staff was nice. Cash only at this establishment! Will be back again

Fine restaurant meals at affordable prices. I haven’t had a steak this good in a long time. Convenient parking out back Helpful and friendly staff. I was a little overwhelmed at the ordering arrangement. I didn’t expect to order a twenty dollar steak over the counter but let me tell you. It was delicious. The entrees look as good as they taste. You can easily share a meal and it is worth the 2 dollar sharing fee. It is so much food! My only complaint and it is small… the plates slide when you cut your streak so hold on to it.

Worst burger I’ve ever had in my life! The burger was dry, grisly, and had paper stuck to the bottom, absolutely disgusting. I will never eat here again.

Just had their advertised Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad. OMG… the grilled chicken was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! Def. worth the $ 10 — cash only for a fresh, good-​sized portion. FYI — they gave me (non-​pitted) olives and green peppers instead of croutons. That was fine by me! Not the greatest dressing, but again — okay with me. (Luckily, I was able to add some Gorgonzola cheese crumbles and fresh avocado to it!) YUM!!!

No thrills, waiters or booze.
We both had the Churrasco, which was cooked to order and very good! The vegetable side was cold and garlic bread not very «garlicy», but overall good value. FYI cash only!

This place had been on my radar for a while but I was always anxiously hesitant due to the wildly mixed reviews. It’s grand aggregate score ultimately got me to try it one day while in a hunger-​induced stupor. I ordered take-​out (which I usually due while on the clock) and as soon as I got back to the office and began chowing, I knew I’d soon be writing a 2 star review. Though the food was not necessarily bad, it was bordering cold (my job is only 10 minutes away). I also began to feel very sick after finishing it and low and behold my suspicions were confirmed after a few trips back and forth to the restroom. I wanted to like this place and recommend it, but instead I’ll warn you lot to try this place at your own risk.

I remember living on Outwater Ln. and always passing by this place. After hearing some good reviews, and of course moving 20 minutes away, I finally decided to try this place out. The amount of food they give you for the price is spot on and although it might not be the best steak you will ever have, for the price you are paying it’s definitely more than worth it.
If you are looking to get a good steak for around $ 20 this is the place to go!

Driving down Outwater Lane, Garfield a flash of sunlight came from my left side. It was the sun reflecting off a mirrored store front with a picture of 2 cows on it… GASP this is the famous Christin’s Steakhouse.
The parking lot is tiny and if there’s a couple of cars it’s difficult to maneuver in the lot. There is a beauty parlor next to it.
Cash only which is getting on my nerves. What’s with these places?
I walked in and bumped into the big cigar store Indian and I was polite and said «How». I could almost see John Wayne sitting at a table welcoming pilgrims. The décor is very masculine with pictures of Indians lining the walls and statues of Indians filling the counters. very masculine although I don’t know what Indians have to do with steaks.
There was this very nice, Spanish man at the counter who took my order and asked if it was for here or to go. When I told him I wasn’t sure if I could finish the whole thing he said… bah don’t worry honey you no finish .we throw it in a bag you take it home. Ok and I ordered the Filet Mignon then tried to pay. the man said… what is that… Money…(me) he said «not yet now go away I’ll call you when it’s done». Ok so I went to a table to take in the décor.
When the steak was ready he yelled across the room…“YOU” and pointed at me so I suspected it was my order. Yep it was… he gave me my order and I tried to pay… he said «what’s that?»…money (me)…he yelled «STOP IT… I’ll let you know when»
Ok now the food… Filet Mignon perfectly cooked medium rare… a feat in itself (Many Unilocalers know what I mean) and mashed potatoes with lumps… I’m in love… The meat was so tender you could almost cut it with a fork… sooo good and plentiful, I couldn’t finish it. So I yelled at the guy and held up my plate, he waved me over… he threw it in a bag. I said «Now?» He finally let me pay and I was on my way.
Good-​bye pilgrims I will be back.

We have passed by this place several times and never thought of any thing about it, one day we decided to try their burgers. How wrong were we about this place. The burgers are from real meat, huge beef parties and overall burger is a wonderful choice. Best We have tried, real burgers with real flavor and the price of $ 6.95 including fries, I don’t know how they make a profit. They also have steaks and other platters.
Give it a try, you won’t regret it.

For Bergan county this place is more than a deal. I’m guessing the relatively low prices (for massive steaks) can be attributed to the no frills restaurant style — you place your order at the counter fast food style & you grab your own food to bring to your table when it’s ready.
I ordered the churrasco chileno & it was delicious. The only drawback was that I asked for my steak cooked medium and it was cooked more medium well. The portions are considerable, the food is well seasoned, and the place is BYOB.
Churrasco’s Grill in Lake Hiawatha is still my favorite NJ steak place, but it’s quite expensive so this place is definitely the better deal/​best option if it isn’t a special occasion.

Finally just tried this for the first time and what everyone was saying was all true.
I’ve lived in this area practically my whole life and have heard rave reviews from local friends. I have passed this little hole in the wall and I’m not even exaggerating hundreds of times. It’s tucked away and it has a tiny parking lot but I just finally decided to try it for take out and see what the hype was about.
I tried the 12 oz filet mignon with mashed potatoes. It was accompanied with a small piece of garlic bread and fresh string beans and a big piece of broccoli which I didn’t even know it came with so that was a nice surprise! Steak was cooked medium and was like butter, cooked perfect and tasted seasoned too.
It looks a little cramped inside and parking was an issue for me even just picking up but the food was awesome!
