Gas is pretty cheap here. We should have filled up our Explorer while we were there, but only ran inside the store to grab some drinks and snacks before heading out for an afternoon with a friend. I told my husband to grab me a piece of beef jerky, and he came back with the tiniest piece for about $ 2. I thought it was a joke at first and that he had ripped off the piece from a bigger piece, but he was serious. The value was the joke. Also, he grabbed it from the hot/spicy bin, but it was definitely teriyaki.(But this was less disappointing than the small size. Teriyaki was delicious.)

I stop into this 7 – 11 frequently and am always treated very nicely. The woman behind the counter are always very friendly. You can usually drive right up to a gas pump as well without having to wait very long and they are right on the main road in a convenient location.

I’ve been stopping at this store for over thirty five years on my way to my cabin in Mammoth. I have filled up my boats, motorcycles and vehicles over the years and have given them thousands of dollars. I travel at night from the Bay Area and it puts me at the store between 2−3am. The people that have work there at that time in the past were kind and greeted you with a smile. My last three trips there has been a guy named Ken who has the personality of a piece of wood. He is a miserable human being. He is rude, has a smartass mouth and treats you like shit. For a guy that stands 4’10″ tall sure does talk like Hulk Hogan. I cant even get the owner to return my call which should tell you something about the owner. It’s a shame he has to hire losers. This trip I took my business to the Topaz Lake Chevron and will continue to. I was very surprised with the service and kindness. Plus its a far cleaner place to stop and let your dogs run for a little bit. That little guy Ken should look in the mirror and ask himself why he’s working at a 7-elevan at 3am in Gardnerville NV. in his mid 40s. It’s NOT cause of a high number of IQ points…

I travel between Berkeley and Mammoth regularly during the winter. This is my official gas stop as it’s usually 50 cents per gallon cheaper than anything in California. They also have a bathroom which is reasonably clean. And of course, all the usual necessary snacks and drinks one needs when doing a 325 mile road trip :)

Well, a must stop when I am on my way to Bishop. Fill up on the cheapest gas along 395 in Cali, pick up a few drinks. They would get 4 stars if they didn’t make me use the porta potty outside in winter condition.

*The* rendezvous point for a caravan between the Bay Area and Bishop in the winter when all the passes are closed(Tioga, Sonora, etc). Here are all the recommended activities: 1) Pump gas. It’s unlikely you’re driving a hybrid or other small car that could make it to Bishop on a single tank of gas(360 miles). If you are, then your friends are probably carrying your crashpad(s) and will need gas. It’s probably cheaper here anyways. 2) Bathroom break. There is a single(lockable) bathroom for public use. Walk straight as you come in and turn right, the bathroom is on the left. Not terribly clean, sometimes they’re out of paper towels. Also used as general storage for the store. 3) Snacks! I highly recommend to reward yourself with an ice cream novelty, especially if you sent something hard over the weekend, like perhaps Action Figure(V6). Drumsticks, Snickers Ice Cream, Choco Taco, Brownie Sandwich. It’s all good. It’s almost halfway between the south bay and Bishop if you go the winter route, so it’s a nice stop to stretch, swap drivers, walk the dogs, etc. Note: For some reason, the Unilocal preview map is wrong, but if you click on view larger map, it’s correct.
