My boyfriend and I go here about once every week. Their bun bo hue is really good! Ngu binh’s bun bo hue always made me feel nauseous after due to a lot of msg, but this place is really good. Have to ask for the pork blood cubes if you want it in your dish. They always give free tapioca dessert after. Good customer service!

Boyfriend and I came here on Chinese New Year because everything else was closed, so we Unilocaled it and this restaurant came up. First impressions: cute, small, well furnished space(not like your typical Vietnamese restaurant). We got sat and tended to right away. Food: We ordered banh beo dia(appetizer) to share, two Vietnamese iced coffees, and two bun bo hue(«spicy»). The drinks came out first, then the other foods just minutes after. We didn’t have to wait long at all. The appetizer was just meh. We wouldn’t order it again. We can make that dish better at home. The bun bo hue was disappointing… not spicy or flavorful. The soup didn’t have fresh pork blood cubes(which I look forward to in this soup) and had only one meatball. But they did however serve us a complimentary dessert! It was a type of tapioca/coconut milk/taro dessert. Not too sweet.(We didn’t finish). Restroom: not your typical Vietnamese restaurant restroom. It was clean and well kept! Service: quick and friendly Would we come back? No. Would we recommend? No.

This is family restaurant because 1 — They open at 9AM. We got in at 915AM. They were playing a Vietnamese song. 10 min later, the teenage girl who took our order changed to a new song, Jason Mraz — I’m Yours. 10 min a younger boy who appeared and changed to another song. I find it hilarious because you can’t do this $hit in Cheesecake Factory or Maggianos or Dean & Deluca. They have very good sounds system though. 2 — The restroom is super clean and smell good! I know it is odd to bring it up. My gawd, have you been to other restaurant’s restroom and it looks like slaughter house and smells like dead hooker? They really keep it clean! The foods 1 — The large bowl is large. If you are local and want to stretch your tummy. Go for the large bowl. I am out of town. I always tell myself get a small bowl so I can try other foods from other places but I failed. I failed big times. 2 — The foods is good. It tastes great. However this morning, the beef of Bun Bo Hue is very chewy. I have to swallow it. It likes I shoved five rubber bands in to my mouth. My mom(she have dentures). LOL let me tell you… It was not pretty… LOL Over all, I like it. It is cute restaurant. The servers(probably kids of the owner) really take pride in their works. They are polite and professional.

Been here twice now. The food is fantastic as well as the attentive service. Everybody who works there is super friendly. Seems to be a family ran business which shows in the quality of their food– –made with much love! I feel so comforted when I eat here. Although my siblings and I are part Vietnamese and grew up eating Vietnamese food, there are many dishes unbeknownst to us. Especially from regions our parents are not from. Aside from the usual Hue foods like banh nam, banh bot loc, and bun bo hue — there is so much we have yet to taste. We tried banh it ram(took the pork out) and com hen for the first time here. So good! Com hen had a lighter taste than I was expecting, very fresh and clean. Will definitely want to order my own next time. I wish that they could make a pork-less banh it ram with mung bean since sis and I can’t eat pork. I think we will attempt to make it with mom at home soon! Also, they give you complimentary che after your meal! Yum!

I ordered two large Bun Bo Hue’s to go. They were $ 8.50 each. When I got home, I was surprised at how small the portions were. The large comes with 3 pieces of brisket, 1 blood cute, 1 meatball, and 1 pig feet. I really can’t imagine how the small portion would’ve been. Seriously!!! The broth was ok. It tastes much better after you add the hot sauce. The vegetables didn’t look fresh and again, the portion was SOSMALL. Even the rice noodle portion was small. With so many other options close by, go elsewhere.

A hit and miss place. I’ve tried their Bun Bo Hue. It’s decent. Lacks the aroma of lemon grass and their beef is on the chewy side. Their Banh Canh was ok nothing too spectacular. They did use real crab meat though sparsely. They served us dessert the first time we came and gave us a new calendar. However, on subsequent visits they did not serve us dessert but other tables did get dessert. We will chalk this up as «accidents» and will give them another chance. If these tactics continue then I’ll update my review… Update: We gave them repeat business. Sure enough this time they served us dessert. Yay! Their portions are on the scanty otherwise I would give better ratings.

They close early for no reason. What a waste of a trip. If you have hours posted keep to them.

Food was okay, I mean it wasn’t anything special… but the food was good. I ordered the Phở Ga Dac Biet. The chicken was cooked well enough and the phở was good. What I really liked was the appetizer combo of the Banh Beo. It came with 3 types of «finger foods» and each portion was cooked to perfection. The wait staff was very nice and gave us free dessert of tapioca che. They also gave us a free calendar as well. :) All in all, I probably would come back if I was in town, just for the Banh Beo.

Drove 1 hours to try this place. Came at 8:30 and they closed while the sign said close at 9:00. Bad business not recommend!

Loved my Mi Quang. This place is very comparable to the flavors of Huong Giang. Nice veggies and large chunks of meat. A small bowl was very filling. We also ordered the bun no hue. Nice flavor, not as spicy as I thought given their label but there are chilies at the table for you to amp up as you please. Came with a free cup of taro dessert. It was not too sweet. A nice touch. It’s located on the end of a tiny strip mall. Small parking lot but not impossible. Will be coming back to try the com hen(rice and clams).

I recommend the bun bo hue and the appetizer number 5 which comes with 3 different rice cakes and dumplings. Pour the fish sauce all over the appetizer! This is a small restaurant next to a dry cleaner. Look out for it! The service is friendly. The place is clean. There was no wait when I went at 7 p.m. Dessert with red bean and corn is given at the end which is on the house. It was very tasty! The bun bo hue does justice to the famous noodle bowl name. Squeeze that lime into the bowl and then devour away. Also, the Mi Quang was very good as well. The size provided can give you food coma. Come hungry! The staff had smiles the whole time. I will be back. Check this spot out!

This is located in a very small, old and run down plaza… Small location, means not a lot of parking spots either. You can park in the front of the restaurant or in the back! I’ve been here one too many times and introducing it to my friends who introduced it to their friends. This place is my absolute FAVORITE when it comes to banh canh! Banh Canh is a vietnamese udon. I ordered the Banh Canh Cua, which is a udon with crab. They used real crab in this dish, and OMG I just was amazed when my dish came out because the smell of it was what I remembered eating while growing up. I’m glad they didn’t skimp out on the crab meat. This place is authentic! They also have bun thit luc! This is where you can make your own rolls and dip it in fish sauce or mam nem! Another one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes! At the end of your meal, they’ll give you a complimentary dessert on the house! yum yum yum! The service is great too! Definitely worth a try!

Been here twice for the Bun Bo Hue after watching an Anthony Bourdain episode on Hue. Ive been to Thailand before but not Vietnam yet but from the taste, the flavor depth, and the wide variety ingredients in this one dish, it seems very authentic and worth coming back for. They’ll ask you if you want all the pork trimmings and I went for it. The front young lady was very nice and spoke good English. They also treated me to the free coconut tapioca dish. I agree with the others the parking might not be so great if this restaurant was busy but both times I have come it wasn’t and I found a spot right away. The large portion of Bun Bo Hue is also quite filling. I’ll be coming back for more and hope this place succeeds in bringing this signature dish from central Vietnam.

We were craving Vietnamese food and stumbled upon this hidden gem behind all the construction happening on brookhurst. The gf ordered BBH(5 stars) and I had the rice + pork chop + egg plate(4 stars). They even hooked us up with free dessert. Good food, cleanliness and great service earned them a 5 star rating.

My family and I’ve always been going to ngu binh, but their food has been going down hill lately so Did a random search on Unilocal for Hue food and this place popped up. Was a bit skeptical at first since they’ve only been open for about 6 months and only a handful of reviews but an establishment has to start somewhere right? Restaurant is off the main paths of the little Saigon district which I think puts them at a disadvantage but for the most part makes up for it with the food. To start we had the BANHBOTLOC/BANH NAM/BANH BEOCOMBO nice way to try a few appetizers in one dish. This dish was just ok for me. I think I prefer ngu binhs’s banh bot loc, banh nam, and banh beo over this places. 3 stars*** Next we ordered the BANHITRAM. This was pretty good but small and I think the slightly overcooked it. The inside of the banh it ram was very flavorful and ratio of filling and breading was perfect. 4 stars*** MIQUANG– good portions and meat isn’t as fatty like other places. I like that they give the soup part separate so you can control how much or how little you want 4 ½ stars***** BUNBOHUE– was my grandfathers dish but I got to try some and I thought it was very flavorful. Meat wasn’t as fatty and definitely less oily. Only thing I would change was that the bun bo hue isn’t spicy at all. Maybe Next time I’ll ask them for more spiciness.4 stars**** COMPLEMENTARYTAPIOCAANDCOCONUTDESSERT– was very refreshing and not too sweet. The coconut pieces were an added plus 5 stars**** They’re relatively new and haven’t been open for more than 6 months. Staff is friendly and attentive. Parking is horrible and is available In front only and is shared with other businesses.

Despite the limited amount of details gathered from previous reviews, I still gave Quan Non La a try because I am a fan of Hue-style Vietnamese food. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue Dac Biet($ 8.25). My first impression — the broth had remarkable depth of lemongrass flavor. It was different from the broth at Ngu Binh, which was completely covered with chili the last time I visited. Quan Non La’s BBH broth was very clear, and it had tangy and mint flavors with just a little bit of chili heat. The bun bo hue included pork blood, thinly sliced beef shank(4pc), a huge piece of fish cake that tastes homemade, and pig feet which was fun to knaw at around the bone. The plate of herbs was not as plentiful as what’s served at Ngu Binh or Quan Hy, but they taste extremely fresh. Quan Non La appears to be a family-owned restaurant that practices homestyle-cooking. The broth is very clean but still tasteful, and the ingredients are very fresh. Complimentary desserts are served after the meal. I received a warm bowl of tapioca with taro, about the same sweetness level as the Cantonese coconut and taro sago. The price range is competitive to well-established places like Ngu Binh and Quan Hy, which I found interesting because Quan Non La is relatively new with barebone décor, and the menu consists of a 4 page booklet stapled together. Warning: It’s worth mentioning that during my visit, only one employee(young female server) was somewhat fluent in English. She was nice and very soft spoken. It doesn’t appear that any of the kitchen staff understand or speak any English. In addition, contrary to what the Unilocal listing indicates, credit cards are not accepted at the moment. Fortunately, I had just enough $ in my wallet to pay the bill or else I would have been sent to wash the dishes.
