This review is not for any of the food items but for service and cleanliness. The boiling crab wait was 45 minutes, so I came in here for a beer because they had a sign outside saying happy hour beers were $ 1.99. I came in at 3:16 pm and all of their tables were pretty filthy. They open at 3 every day, so I’m guessing they didn’t clean from the night before. The waitress handed me a menu, and it was disgusting. I should have taken a picture. The menu was covered in stains and was sticky. P. s. If you ask for water, they give you a bottle water… That they charge $ 2 for… Without telling you. Asked for a water and the waitress brought out a water bottle. Thought it was weird, but thought they were nice or something and gave bottled waters. Guess not.

They were able to seat a table of 35 for my friends and I! Awesomeness! This is a type of Vietnamese bar you go to hangout at with your friends when you feel like watching a game and being loud. The food here was pretty good surprisingly. We had the clams and the hot wings! Yum! At night, expect a loud karaōke atmosphere where your moms and dads come up on stage to sing for all of there friends! If you don’t mind the fun Vietnamese atmosphere, then this is your place to hangout. If you’re not open-minded about loud and somewhat drunk Vietnamese people singing their asses off, then don’t come here. You’re welcome!

This place is pretty cool. Food is okay. The beer is fantastic bc 2.50 a beer? Who can say no to that!!! Wish they played more American music or modern music. My classmates and I usually come here after a Big test to celebrate!

Worst customer service, they do not acknowledge u unless you are Asian. Seated myself, waited 20 minutes for a waitress to ask me what I wanted to order, tried waving them down and nothing but they did help out the other 3 tables they had. I walked out.

The FKN service is horrible. This waitresses don’t pay attention to you if you are not Asian. Bad service, no TIP. lol

This place never disappoints whenever you crave for some nhau foods! Everything is so good and surprisingly the service weren’t bad.(I’m always weary about service in Nhau lounges because they’re typically rude to females but when I didn’t know some of the stuffs on the menu, the girls there were pretty helpful!). Loved the foods here, minus the cigarettes odor lingering everywhere. Wish they had a separate areas for that. Otherwise, the dishes are so good! Always a good time here. The fried chicken feets and all the oc dishes are my fav. FYI: Now that I read everyone’s posts, I do think they overcharged us with the beer but I didn’t pay attn at them moment what they had brought out to argue back. But they said we drank 12 bottles between 2 people. I honestly only remembered seeing each of them only drinking 3 each max. Can’t remembered but def check your beer tabs and count them before opening!

okay place to come watch sports games. they have a lot of TVs and it’s cheaper than going to an American bar. they have karaōke at night which some people might like.

Believe me or not but this crowded place really helped me to loosen up after a stressful day. I’m not a big fan of public karaōke, but the singing of other customers didn’t bother me one bit. Indeed, I was quite enjoying it. I don’t understand why other reviews have to hate on the waitress. They are just human, they are not slacking off and actually they are working to earn their bucks — so probably, we should cut them some slack. Wearing highheels and tight clothes, plus carrying a whole bunch of dishes on each hand is not an easy thing to do. Needless to say they are super attentive and sweet, too. Now, about the food. I’m amazed by the variety of my hometown food including blood pudding Tietcanh. Bo Tai Chanh was also amazing and grilled clams were superb, and don’t forget to go here if you’re a seafood fan.

Always crowded here! Good music and good food. Only Complaints are restroom and service. Restrooms are always filthy, service could be hit or miss depending who’s working I guess…

Good place to eat and drink! The bloody clams and thiet bo tai Chanh is my favorite here! Im giving only a 4 star out of 5 is because of the vietnamese music. The service here is good!

Took my friends here on a whim because we wanted to eat some snails. We ordered Bo Luc Lac, a few snail dishes, grilled clams, and some beers. The food was pretty good and the snails were fresh. Service was slow and dissapointing. To be honest, I don’t think these girls speak English. I didn’t mind the loud music(it gets louder after 7pm) but I knew I had to get out of there when people started karaōke. The singing was horrible and I think they should just played the CD instead. Oh well, I got what I wanted(the snails!) but there are many Vietnamese restaurants in Santa Ana that sells them. I wouldn’t come back here again. 2014/#14

I like to do or give business long term, and that only happens when there is a relationship involving trust. After all, it is trust that stems repeat business where 80%(80⁄20 rule) of revenues come from. I too was a victim of being incredibly overcharged hence losing the trust that I initially gave this restaurant the benefit of the doubt of. They are shady and overcome their tactics with their karaōke distractions. It’s interesting how far this restaurant will go for a quick dollar without the understanding of the value of repeat business. No matter how great the food or service could be at any place, when you cheat, you are dismissed! The best part is when we gave them a chance to save themselves the next day, we were reinforced that a quick dollar was more important to them then repeat or satisfied customers. Wow, what piece of work.

Came here last nite with a group of 6. All the seafood was pretty fresh. Sea snail was the best one of all. We ordered every seafood dish there was on the menu. Everything tasted pretty good. The only thing bad was the loud Karaōke music. It was too loud and we couldn’t talk. So we just eat & drink with not much conversation the entire nite. If they didn’t have such loud music, we would have enjoyed it more. The service wasn’t bad. We double checked our bill, but every dish was written in Vietnamese. We don’t understand Vietnamese. Overall experience was OK. We didn’t mind to try those exotic dishes, but the music will keep me away from going back.

I came here for beers and an appetizer with family. The restaurant is spread out with a stage for live music. It had on loud music(which I enjoyed) before the performance. We had the fried tofu and sausage which was rich and delectable. My compliments to the chefs! The service was friendly and exceptional. I had a great time and hope to return.

While every type of cuisine has its fair share of bar food, I’d say the Vietnamese have got the market cornered on some of the tastiest exotic dishes when I feel like downing beers with my gal pals all night long. Enter Quan Gio Bar and Grill, part restaurant, part bar, and part«can’t take the Saigon outta the girl» live music karaōke lounge. Yup, you heard that right, at approximately 9pm on any given night, hoochie-mama, daisy-dukes-clad middle-aged Paris-by-Night wannabes gyrate up to a makeshift stage to sing their hearts out in Vietnamese. And if these amateur performances haven’t scared you off quite yet, after 10pm they start bumping trance like Swedish House Mafia made a quick cameo and turned this venue into an after-hours club-a-thon. Tell me YOUR pub crawls consist of something like this below? Yup, that’s what I thought! bar plates like grilled clams, roasted quail, shaken beef, Hamachi sashimi, and my fave skillet-fried broken rice with shredded pork and Chinese sausage. Yummmmm just like I was back in ‘Nam again y’all. Dirty dishware and heavy accents included. *Insider’s tip: Wall-to-wall oversized TV screens let you and 50 of your homies spend countless hours holed up watching football/soccer/basketball while drinking the night away. Definitely not a place for tots to tag along so if you’re dining with the entire fambam, I’d come between lunchtime and 6pm before the Viet freaks come out at night. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!“ Bön appétit mes amis!

I don’t understand the love that Asians have for obnoxious annoying karaōke. I don’t understand why people cannot read signs that say«NOSMOKING», but still smoke inside. I don’t understand old women wearing tube tops and pushing up their cellulite boobs and being nasty. But this place is ok. Came here for a quick meeting which turned into a long meeting. The parking is ample(kind of sketchy parking lot) and there’s a lot of tables and chairs for everyone. I honestly don’t see this place getting packed unless there’s a game or somethin’ going on. Food smelled decent, but I didn’t eat. For you drinkers, I’m told that a bottle of beer will cost you 2.50. That’s cheaper than soda at 7⁄11!

I’d give it 3.5 stars, but I’ll round up for this one. They do take credit cards, only serve beer and wine(no liquor, but they do have Soju and sake), and lot and lots of tables for large parties. I went here for the first time ever last night. I’m not sure how I feel about it. The music is pretty loud, and the karaōke singing is awful. But the beer is pretty cheap($ 2.50 each for a Blue Moon and other imports), and they serve it in buckets so you pay for what you drank. I won’t go here on my own, but if my friends and I want some quick, cheap drinks in a nice, dim place this place ain’t too shabby. When the karaōke wasn’t playing, the music was pretty good(Metallica and the like). The service is ok. Old Vietnamese men would love this place. There’s young Vietnamese girls with boob jobs opening bottles of beer for you, so who would complain about that? Watch out, because if you’re not quick enough and don’t want another beer, the waitress will quickly snap that bottle top off and you’re obligated to pay. Too bad for you. Or not.

This Nhau spot is definitely my favorite. I love the food, music is cool(as long as they’re not blasting Viet stuff) and the service is great also. Who says you can’t get great service at a Vietnamese establishment? Lol :) The girls here are always attentive & friendly. Not sure if Phoebe’s still working at Quan Gio but she’s great fun and an awesome hostess! My favorite dishes to order are: lotus salad w/pork & shrimp, mango salad, green mango w/sweet fish sauce, snails in coconut milk & basil, clams w/basil and shaken beef. The garlic noodles that come with Shaken Beef are pretty good as well, but order egg noodles instead of macaroni. Next time, I’ll have to try the baked blood clams — they look super bomb from the other photos! Dishes here, on average are about $ 14/plate. They also serve beer, sake, soju and wine. It’s easy to get sucked in for hours, just drinking & snacking. I do each time!

Overall: This may look like one of those shady looking Asian night bars with the security standing outside during the late hours, but don’t let the exterior fool you. I wouldn’t recommend coming here unless you know someone or know Vietnamese because it can be intimidating when you first walk in and everyone is staring at you. I have brought a couple of my Caucasian friends so the place doesn’t discriminate, but I don’t think this is a place that they would go by themselves. I love how you can relax with sometimes good hiphop/techno music(other nights, they may have people come up and sing Vietnamese karaōke), but this is a nice lounge to hang out with some friends and eat some rare and odd food items. Food: Food can be a bit pricey ranging in the $ 15 dollar range, but that is how bar food usually are. I LOVE the food here compared to most Vietnamese lounges I go to… + Duck fetus egg(Balut/Hot vit lon) — best I had at most places and usually fresh, which means they aren’t really old or have aged dramatically + Coconut snails(Oc len xao dua) — love this! + Larger size snails with fish sauce dip — love this! + Clams — delicious! + Hot Pot — delicious, but expensive! I usually get the Lau Thai(Hot Pot Thai Flavor) + Cube steak(Bo luc lac), and even more! Drinks: Cheap beer, which are $ 2 – 4 I believe and you can order a bucket, which comes with 10 beer of your choice i. e Corona, Heineken etc… Usually if you don’t finish the beer and as long as you don’t open it, they can calculate the total of what you drank and only charge you for that, but I’m not sure about this place. Service: The service here is ok. You never really get spectacular service from Vietnamese places, but they do come to your table when you first arrive to take your order. After they bring out your food, they usually come around every so often to ask if you want anything else(usually beer). Environment: As you enter, you noticed the girls are usually dressed provocatively(short skirt, revealing top etc) sometimes. Once they lead you to an open table, they usually hand you a menu, take your order and comes around once in a while to get you a new beer/drink. Some of the waitresses English aren’t the best, so that’s why it may be harder if people who didn’t speak Vietnamese came, but then again you can always point! The ambiance here is dark, and like I said before, a fun place to hang out with your friends late at night.
