The goat ribs are to die for! My family only takes out with the goat ribs and the duck blood, but it is so delicious! Definitely come out and see for yourself :)

I been eating here for years and years, Im getting to be a old man. Very surprising theres not many reviews of this place for such an old establishment. The youngins dont really know of this place and its all old fogeys that do. Anyway, great place for food. Best drinking food in OC esp for price hands down. Will you get ambiance? nope. Will you get superb service? doubtful but it will easily be acceptable. The owner is set in his ways and nothing will change. Im grateful they did a renovation of sorts which brought this place to an acceptable dining experience as it was a pretty old dump way back in the day. This is a dive establishment vietnamese style and its food is the best.

wow this place has the best vietnamese beer food in OC. Everything I had here was really good but if I had to pick one item it would be the bar b que goat ribs. If you like good beer food you definitely have to try this place out.

We usually frequent Binh Dan for our to go nhau food but unfortunately they were closed on Tuesday so I had to find an alternative and came across Phuong Hoang… Duck Blood was fresh although they didn’t provide rau ram, my fav herb. Deer Ribs were very flavorful although for the price tag, It wasn’t worth it, OC Len Xao Dua was AMAZING and the portion was huge Wild Boar curry was so tender and flavorful Bo Tai Chanh was typical, nothing special. All the dishes were delicious and I’ll be visiting again!

Took family here for late night dinner because it was one of the few restaurants still open after 9pm. My mistake. Definitely not a place to bring your family for dinner. We ordered the family dinner for four(stir fried veggies, Viet salad, clay pot catfish and catfish sour soup). Veggies was OK, salad was so so, clay pot fish was OK, and soup was too sour. The soup had parts of fish(fish cheeks and parts of head) that restaurants usually do not serve to customers. I would have been OK with the so so food, but the customer service was one of the worst. Owner didn’t even crack a smile. Also the restaurant table and floor was a bit sticky. Good thing we didn’t have to use the bathroom, because it would probably be bad too. One of the worst Vietnamese restaurants I have been to. I wiill never come back.

Not bad for vietnamese bar food. They have authentic vietnamese dishes such as tiet canh(coagulated blood). I’m not a fond of eating blood but the husband likes it. He, alone, devoured it. We also had ngheu hap xa and de nuong, I thought both were delicious.

I LOVEVIETNAMESEBARFOOD! It’s so delicious! Food was good but I have had better. Got the curry snails, mud clams, regular clams, and fried rice. They were a older crowd. It was super loud even when it was not packed and the only noise were coming from people’s mouths. There could be only 4 people talking in the restaurant and it would be super loud. By an hour, my voice was gone.

I hope the day never comes where I don’t enjoy a good quan nhau. I mean, these types of restaurants are exactly why I almost ripped up my return ticket and stayed in Saigon last year. But then I remembered: I live near LITTLE Saigon. I can still nhau, and not abandon my home country! Upon entering the restaurant, a guy sitting by himself eating an enormous platter of some kind of shellfish said, ‘You came to the right place!’ He was correct. For the style of eatery that this is, it’s actually pretty fancy inside(in that it isn’t smoke-and-grease choked, and has chairs with backs). We ordered the goat ribs and blood cockles(really just cockles from the sound of the Vietnamese name — no ‘huyet’ — but close enough to what I was looking for). Both things were perfection. This is one of those places where I cannot think of a single bad thing to say about anything I ate. The ribs glistened with grease and practically sizzled in my fingers and melted between my teeth. They went wonderfully with the salt/pepper/lime mixture, and sat in a pyramid on a bed of soft, fragrant onions. The cockles, while not quite as fresh as the ones in Vietnam(and how could they be) — nevertheless retained their sweet seawater oyster-y tang, and there were enough rau ram leaves to go around. My coconut water with the swirled meat may as well have, as far as taste was concerned, been served straight out of a coconut with a straw. You can’t get much closer to being in Vietnam without getting on a plane. I’ll be back — probably more often than is healthy. But how else will I systematically make my way through all the different kinds of snails on the menu?

This is one of the long time establishments in little saigon, some 20+ years. Their specialties are alcohol foods: exotic meats like wild boars, goat ribs, snails, clams, etc. they even serve«tiet canh» the dread blood dish of south vietnam. Goat rib bbq — suon de nuong: expertly marinated & grilled with tasty salad & tomato. Wild boar curry — heo rung xao lan — spicy chewey game meat — great to pair it with some red wine &/wine coolers Deep fried chitlins — Ruot heo chien don yup. always ask for the tamarin sauce sometimes I would go for the blood clams too. recently, they updated the interior making it more friendlier & brighter

If you’re looking for a dining establishment that serves exotic meats, there’s nothing better than this restaurant. My uncle and I were craving tiet canh(«Vietnamese pizza,» which oddly enough is coagulated duck blood served with ducks parts, parsley, and peanuts), so we tried to go to Binh Dan, but it was closed. I think he wanted to go there for the service(I’m guessing the servers are all females with boobs jobs walking around in bikinis then?). This place was open and made for a great quan nhau experience. He invited his other older Vietnamese buddies to join us, so it was a lot of beer drinking and eating weird food. We ordered tiet canh(which I could not get enough of!), fried frog legs, garlic butter sea snails, goat titties, and some other things I was too full to try. The verdict: Tiet canh: Very good but no as god as the homemade ones that my uncle makes. I could eat a whole plate of this for myself. Next time I’m not sharing. Fried frog legs: Too much batter. It tastes like chicken but with even more bones. I’ll forego ordering this next time. Garlic Butter sea snails: Very tasty! I liked the sauce a lot. I wished the snails were bigger, but you can’t have it all I guess. Goat boobs: Too fatty for my taste. And we had to cook it ourselves, so my eyes were burning and it got really smokey at our table. I wouldn’t even bother with this. I never had these before, so I tried it but I think I got my fix. Beers are $ 2 here. We ordered many rounds of Heineken, and I also had coconut water, which was unfortunately more costly than beer. How does that happen? This place is great for quan nhau. There’s mostly older Vietnamese guys dining here(40’s and up), and they all drink beer and they all smoke. I don’t think you’re allowed to smoke inside anymore so that shouldn’t be a concern for anyone who wants to avoid quan nhau places for that reason. The noise level on this particular day was average. Definitely coming back here again!

I love this place. Their Phở is very good. One of the best ones I’ve had. I wish more restaurants like this is in LA. I believe it’s the eye and tongue of the community keep places like this going. The best Vietnamese food I had was in Philly where there is a big population of Vietnamese and much competition between restaurants. Service is very fast and attentive. Very laid back atmosphere and I always feel relaxed to be here.

Came here tonight on Christmas Eve for dinner with a friend because another Vietnamese pub down the street called Binh Dan is closed. The restaurant is a hole in the wall typa place that sells exotic Vietnamese cuisine like veal, goat and a few selections of exotic clams. Prepared these dishes as stir frys, deep fried, stews or grilled. We ordered 3 dishes between the 2 of us. Grilled bloody clams with scallions, fried shallots and peanuts dipped into fish sauce eaten with Vietnamese herbs. The clams was a-ok. The clams wasn’t bloody super fresh in flesh or flavor. Roasted veal thinly sliced with yellow onions and tossed in white sesame seeds n roasted rice powder is eaten with a fermented fish sauce and herbs. I always love me some roasted veal. I would. order this dish again next time. Last dish we ordered was the venision grilled at your table do it yourself grill. The venision meat was tender and it had a nice texture. It’s marinated with lots of garlic. The venision meat was naturally sweet. Different than how beef taste like. Be careful not to be spattered from the oil on the grill. This dish is eaten by adding noodles. n veggies rolled into a rice paper and eaten with hands dipped into fish sauce. The restaurant isn’t fancy. The servers are attentive. Cash only. 3.5 stars food 3.5 stars $$ 3 stars service

This is a drinking quan Nhau place and yes there is smoking like any ordinary quan Nhau in Westminster. I read of some of the complaints about it and quite honest there’s not one quan Nhau that doesn’t have smokers. It isn’t your typical quan Nhau because the girls are not in hoochie gear. The service is good too As for the food you really can’t go wrong with anything here. If you like Duck blood it is really good here but sometimes they do sell out. Chicken wings are fried and sooooo crispy… yum We tried so many other things here that I can’t remember their names If you and your friends wants to have a couple of beers and authentic Nhau food try it out

Still my favorite place to get goat ribs, too bad they’ve raise the price to $ 15 a plate. The place has been remodels, but I always get my food to go due to the indoor smoking.

Quan nhau with a very laid back atmosphere. No half naked waitresses with boobies and cheeks hanging out(not like there’s anything wrong what that if that’s what floats your boats). Came here midday just to order some items togo, all of which were delicious. Lemme see what I ordered that day… la lot– yummy tender beef wrappped and betal leaf and grilled, served with mam nem. i LOVE mam nem!!! bong trung chien– cute little pregnant fish with egg sacks in the belly that’s all deep fried. so u get the whole fish(head and all) and fish eggs. I LOVEFISHEGGS! that item came with a tamarind fish sauce 3. com tay com– which is rice with an assortment of goodies. don’t recall what exactly was in it since it ended up in my mouth and belly soo fast. simple but very very tasty 4. eggrolls– not bad but not all that great either. way pricey though. it was either 4 bucks for 6 eggrolls or 6 bucks for 4 eggrolls??? Total damage? don’t know since i wasn’t the one paying lol. but i don’t think it was that bad. will definitely come back for the deep fried ca bong trung this coming Tuesday oh yeah. i took one star off bc if ur a girl u might get lots of odd if not creepy looks from some of the male patrons. it’s as though they have not seen a female in quite sometimes. other than that they are harmless, they won’t approach u and bug. So… don’t let that stop u gals from stopping in there to eat, drink, and have fun, or just take it togo!

I came here on a weekday a few weeks ago while off from work for few days. I’m going to Phở Disneyland is what I was thinking and this place was on my to go list. I didn’t know I had a hangover until I came here. I sat down and it felt like I had a hangover… I was fine this morning, strange.
Maybe the stupendous noise level inside this place that night did me in, all from people chatting and talking loudly(Hoa???). I’ve been to loud restaurants but this topped the list. I was losing focus, I promptly ordered Shrimp & Crab Noodle Soup(They don’t have Phở). This looked like a nice place to drink and pass the time(As many were doing) but no alcohol for me tonight as I already felt like I had bad alcohol. I did what I came here for: Have a noodle soup and be done with it. The noodle soup was pretty good; they make tasty soup, overall plenty satisfying. — The egg noodles had a waft of strong tap-water smell, overwhelming the noodle aroma; this is my only gripe however. — Shrimps were ok but very decent for the beautifully low price. — Crab meat? I’m not sure what them fluffy things were. Pics posted.
My take on the place. I was in an unusual place where loud talk is the norm, where it reigns. Something else reigns here. And it’s called freedom! Freedom to be yourself! and express your thoughts! anyway you want it. Freedom to stay as long as you like. Freedom to drink away, freedom not to drink, freedom to stare at absolutely nothing for a long time. Freedom to talk at the top of your lungs(Common that night, by sober folks and fried folks alike). Freedom to sit way in the back with shades on at night with your back to the wall(Who, were,… they? They sat behind me at an isle table, I didn’t want to be a dick about it and snap their pics, I wanted to, but probably I’d have gotten beaten up). All this and no one bats an eye. When the place was in its full chaotic swing, I felt we all had something in common, like we were a part of a group with common interest(At first I thought I crashed a private gathering, I wasn’t sure if I could just walk in). This place made me feel this way and I think the credit goes to the owner(s) who created this atmosphere and made a lot of folks feel at home.
I walked in freshly showered and sat down, smelling exactly like Lever 2000 body wash soap(I had just taken a shower to wash off the sweat from the heat wave, not knowing I didn’t need to). But you know what? No one seemed distracted by the fresh smelling guy who just walked in with his eyes narrowed and lost looking, pointing one finger up in the air to indicate party of one. I did feel like an outsider that I was for a split second but… huh, how about that, no bad vibes, you’re my friends? Great! Freedom to advertise your brand of body wash in totally not appropriate place, yea! Wait…, this is not my idea of freedom and I don’t care about body soap brands, focus, focus… What do I think of the place? I truly wish places like these would never disappear. I love it(I just have to buy some ear muffs to come here, I’m serious). Sure the atmosphere was crude and chaotic but it was soothing for the soul somehow, down to earth and none of the politically correctness here, no sirree Bob. Reminds me of few places like this in Down Town LA, now all gone. Word of caution: If you come here, be ready, this is same as crashing a private party in my book, and don’t nit pick over things you don’t like, if you have to complain you don’t belong there. (God, this was a challenge to write, I’m sticking to quiet Phở places.)
