I am a patient of Dr. Gendler’s and I’ve been in their care since I was diagnosed with Diabetes in March of 2010. Since being in their care, I’ve had 4 doctor’s assistants as their turnover rate was in my expectation, high during this period. As any patient, I would like more consistency with the person in charge of me. I hate«starting over» every time my doctor’s assistant had quit or moved. Starting over = re-doing tests, new medications, removal of medications, «You’re too high», «You’re too low», etc. I would like to be under the care of someone who isn’t going to be leaving in 8 – 12 months. This review is for the front office girls who are always polite and genuinely happy to see me. They sympathize with me and do their best to get me scheduled and take care of my needs. This doctor’s front office is fantastic. If only their care was as consistent, I would not have any reason to be considering other office options.

The Garden Grove office of Dr. Gendler is horrible. I’ve been to see him on at least three separate occasions and been disappointed each time. 1. Getting an appointment: Getting a timely appointment with Dr. Gendler is impossible. Each time I ended up waiting at least 1.5 weeks before they could see me. 2. Waiting Time: Each visit required an appointment to be made and I would show up 5 – 10 minutes early for that appointment to ensure I was there on time. Each visit I found myself waiting at least 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time before being taken back to a room… where I would have to wait even longer. 3. The Last Straw: My final experience with Dr. Gendlers office was for a simple referral to get taken out of the gene pool. I showed up to the office about 10 minutes early only to find they had moved their office down the street… something they could have told me when I made the appointment. I got to the new office on time(11:30am) and proceeded to sit in the waiting room with my 1 year old son for 1 hour and 15 minutes until I found out that the doctor had left the office to have lunch. The office is normally closed from 12:00pm to 2:00pm but I would think he would take care of the people with appointments who are currently in the waiting room before leaving. Did he forget about me or just not give a care. Either way I got my co-pay back, left the office and 15 minutes later I had a different PCP. Bottom line, if Gender is not into being a doctor anymore he should just retire instead of wasting patients time.
