No wait on a rainy Sunday. The restaurant looked grimy & dingy from years of indoor BBQing. Almost slipped on the oily floors. The meat quality was average. Not great. We ordered brisket, beef belly, pork belly, and spicy pork. The spicy pork was the best. $ 18.99/pp precludes you from kalbi. You have to pay a $ 2 premium for kabli to be included in your repertoire of meat selections. The sides were ok. The service… non-existent UNLESS you ring the bell!!! No one stops by your table to ask if you need anything. You have to catch someone«briskly walking by». The servers looked annoyed whenever you asked for anything. The AYCE ice cream is a nice after meal feature but I prefer quality meat over free ice cream. Surprised that this place has so many good reviews.

My family was in town for dinner on a Saturday night and we wanted to go to a KBBQ place in the area. We were deciding between Cham Soot Gol and Star BBQ and ended up choosing this place, because they have AYCE ice cream, as opposed to frozen yogurt. We had a party of seven and were seated about 15 minutes upon arrival. The staff was friendly and our server was very attentive. She always made sure to check up on ask, and she always made a point of asking if we needed anything before she left. She even accommodated to my younger brother by offering to replace his tofu soup with an egg pot, because the soup was too spicy. As for the food, it was pretty good. Sides and meats are all pretty standard at any KBBQ place. It wasn’t anything special, but it hit the spot. I believe it was 18.49/person for dinner and it comes with salad, rice, sides, 7(?) types of meat, and an egg pot or soup. The best part, in my opinion, is the self-serve ice cream. It’s nice to be able to clear your palette between rounds. And the flavor selections were pretty good. They had coffee, green tea, birthday cake, and rainbow sherbet. I just wish they kept serving dishes next to the ice cream, so you can opt to do without a cone. My only complaints were that(1) the area I was seated in didn’t seem to be heated. Even though everyone was sitting around the grill, no one took their jackets off(even at the other tables). And(2) our grill didn’t heat up all the way which made our cook time pretty long. Overall, Cham Soot Gol is pretty good. It’s similar to any KBBQ experience, but what slightly sets it apart is the ice cream. Would definitely come back, but probably only during lunch prices.

I’ve been here twice, one a few years ago with the BF, and just last night with a friend. Both times, I felt super meh about it and here’s why: — Meat selection is super limited, esp for $ 18.50. If you add $ 1.50 you can get marinated kalbi and some seafood. The meat selection is way more diverse at Gen for only $ 19.99 — Quality of meat was just alright. Gen definitely has better quality and flavor. — Service was also just alright. We had received our meat, sides, and rice and were already cooking our meat when we realized we never got our water. — Ice cream station was definitely a huge draw, but the execution was terrible. The ice cream in the tubs were melty and the ice cream scoopers sat in disgusting water. It was super unappetizing. Someone should be changing that regularly. I would probably try it again if I had an insatiable appetite for kbbq and the Gen lines were ridic.
