Wait staff was rude and the sushi rolls where nasty… everything taste the same from stripped bass to spider roll… tasteless junk. Please don’t go here… spare yourself.

My family and I have eaten at this wonderful restaurant many times. We have dined in as well as ordered and had it delivered it to our home. Taku never disappoints! My only suggestions is that I wish they had a children’s menu. Maybe a fully cooked roll and miso soup? I seriously love taku! Both my hubby and I love the sashimi and all special rolls you have to offer.

Hands down the best sushi/Japanese food I’ve ever had. The atmosphere, the service, the food is all amazing.
I always order the California rolls and sesame chicken and wow, I haven’t had anything better.
I love coming here and everyone is so nice a friendly.
I definitely recommend the sesame chicken!

Taku is definitely one of those spots you will not know is good until you actually go in and try. Dining room is small but the ambiance makes up for it. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food is not your average Asian food. It is fresh and you can taste how perfectly cooked all the food is whether you decide to dine in or takeout. Takeout is a plus when you order online as you receive a 15% discount. Food maybe a bit pricey but it’s worth every cent and there’s no shortages at all on dinner portions.

I am a sushi lover, and also someone who watches my carb intake. The two don’t always go together, but at Tako they can. They have some AMAZING rice-free selections for people who just want some protein, like Yuzu Tuna and Crystal tuna roll, which are AMAZING. The service is quick and efficient. The ambiance is good, the place is small, but they offer friendly service and a great menu (including a nice drink menu too).

The food there is very delicious, the fish is very fresh, they had pretty good deal for lunch special, now the have a Monday –Thursday wine offers, buy one get second one half price, I very enjoy to go over there and the service is very good also, I am highly recommend !!!

I love this place. Sushi is always fresh. I order sushi and sashimi at work from here all the time. They deliver pretty quick. I also love their Shrimp teriyaki, I get fried rice instead of white. It’s a bit oily bit so so delicious. It’s a cute place to go eat as well. I had oysters there once and they were really fresh. Their lychee martin is one of the best I’ve had! It’s my go to sushi spot when I’m in garden city. Highly recommended.

I can’t say much about the dinning experience since the only time I’ve eaten here is through delivery. I haven’t had sushi from here in over 2 yrs. The menu is still the same. However our delivery came faster than it used to. There were times we used to wait an hour for our food but today delivery was prompt.
If you order online you get an extra 20% off that is automatically deducted at the end. Which helps when you order a lot of their special rolls which are $ 15 a piece.
The sushi is good. The fish was ok. I’ve had the pad thai there once and obviously I shouldn’t order pad thai from a sushi place. Their crab fried rice is still very good. The chicken yaki udon was good.
We also ordered the sashimi platter that ended up being cheaper than individual pieces. The regular rolls were fresh. The crystal roll used to be my favorite but I no longer thought it was special.

As an avid sushi eater, I know when I’m enjoying fresh fish. Taku in Garden City, is one of those places. Though, the place isn’t large, the ambiance is beautiful and the service is on point. (And on a warm day, outdoor seating!!)
I ate with two of my friends, we shared edamame. I then tried and enjoyed one of the specials, the kumamoto oysters; $ 10 for 3… DELICIOUS. For an entrée, I ordered the Spicy Lovers Roll, which housed all my two favorite fish (salmon & tuna) — so good!
A friend (she’s vegan), who was particularly satisfied with the eggplant appetizer, insisted I try a piece. Wow. Let’s just say that upon my return, I will be ordering one for myself.
In sum, if you’re looking for great food and attentive service, you found your spot!

The food was soso, but the service was worse. .They thought we could not understand their dialect so judged me and my friend. My friend heard their conversation and I just want to say they were so rude because the water made mistakes on my order and money, then said sorry to us but said something bad behind me!

Consistently good quality sushi and excellent service. They have what you would expect from a sushi place – basic rolls, a selection of speciality rolls, and some Asian fusion dishes. Everything is fresh and tasty.
On weekends they have specials like $ 3 rolls and 2 for 1 drinks. Who can say no to that?

I eat at Taku for lunch almost daily. They take 20% off your meal when you order online and they have lunches starting around $ 9. I love their general tso chicken and their sushi. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a beautiful, romantic atmosphere. Great, affordable meals especially for the neighborhood.

The sushi is so good! I had the tiger roll my first time coming here and loved it so much I ordered anther roll. Not to mention the waitress gave us all gift cards and coupons because it was our first time there! Highly recommend Taku for good sushi in Garden City.

I come in often, the manager is very nice and welcomes me every time. I always order the Manhattan Roll: it is brilliant. The roll itself is very tasty and the lobster meat on top is warm, which gives good contrast and great balance.
I also order the Vegetable Mai Fun, which is also very good. The portion size is big and it is very filling and rightly so.
The prices are a bit up there, but if you bring a menu, they give you 20% off – and even give you another menu for next time.
The atmosphere is great, very city-like with it’s darker interior and colourful lights around the sushi bar and from the ceiling. All together, it is a great place with good food and atmosphere.
