Stopped in for a bite to eat on a random Wednesday night at 9pm and they were definitely not on their«A» game. Service was slow, took a while to bring over a glass of wine which wasn’t even that big of a deal. Ordered a few dishes and the plates came out dirty, to the point that I didn’t want to eat off of them. Next, I ordered a spaghetti dish and all the pasta was broken into little pieces… weird. We asked for ketchup, grated cheese and water throughout the meal, all which never showed. Final straw, the bottles that they served the water in were moldy around the neck of the bottle. This wasn’t our first time here but it will be our last.

What a cute tapas bar! Met up with some girlfriends after work for happy hour and I’m so glad we went with this place. It is conveniently located at the gallery mall in Westbury plaza. I love outdoor seating and was happy to see they have some tables in the front. We opted to sit inside in the bar area so we could take full advantage of their super reasonably priced happy hour menu. I went with the Spinach and Artichoke Bruschetta($ 2), Caramelized Onion Bruschetta($ 2), Margherita pizza($ 5) and the truffle fries($ 5). As for my drink, I got the strawberry sangria($ 7) and I loved it! I’m not usually a sangria drinker but it looked so good I had to order it. I let my friend try some and she loved it also. She ended up ordering it for her 2nd drink. Our bartender was so great and attentive. She gave us some suggestions and we loved everything. To end our happy hour, we decided to get some dessert. We ordered the Ciambelle($ 6) — LOVE! It is small«donuts» with powdered sugar and your choice of salted caramel(my fav), chocolate and nutela dipping sauce. Overall, me and my friends enjoy everything.

It’s easy to love this place for many reasons, but it’s also not out of this world amazing as far as tapas go. It’s definitely a great place to get together with friends, drink some wine, and share a ton of tapas. Spuntino is a people pleaser and gets the job done. I’ve tried 90% of their menu and I highly recommend sticking to the pizzas… they’re all great(personal fave: fig & prosciutto)! The truffle fries are addicting and the bruschetta variety is pretty good. The happy hour deals are awesome… steep discounts on drinks and select tapas. The bar area is very spacious and super conducive to hanging out with a large group of people. The dining room is rustic but modern and is a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of that busy shopping center. Overall this is a solid spot to meet up with friends or just to grab a nice lunch after a long day of shopping.

1. Wine flight was excellent, and selection is good. 2. I had the grilled octopus, and frankly they can do without the celery and rice. The texture is strange. However, this was only ONE item I tried on the menu, so I can’t base the entire restaurant on this one dish, that is a niche item at best.

I was hoping to have a memorable experience due to other reviews but I was slightly disappointed. We started with the truffle fries, baked ricotta with honey and pork cheeks. The fries were crispy, which was perfectly done but wished it was slightly thicker. The warm ricotta was great but the overload of honey was overwhelming. The pork cheeks were tender as the polenta was a great complement. We moved onto the mixed grill and despite the plate of meat, the chicken was great as it was moist and flavorful. The lamb chops were mediocre and the steak was rubbery despite being medium rare. Lastly, our waiter, Jason was extremely accommodating and attentive but I wished the dishes were more appetizing.

This is probably one of the best restaurants in the area. To start– the staff are all extremely friendly, welcoming, yet professional. Every time I’ve dined here(5 times so far) I’ve had some type of manager or supervisor come by to ask about the dining experience. The décor is also aesthetically pleasing; love the open kitchen in the back. Most importantly, the food is high quality. All around great options for whatever you’re in the mood for. It’s an Italian/American and some hints of Spanish food. Tapas are great small portions to share. They also have slightly larger plates like 10 inch pizzas, mixed grill, and pasta options. Also love how this place is really affordable. Most wine options are expensive but that’s a given. Definitely worth a visit!

My first time here was for a Unilocal elite event and ever since, I’ve been here 2 more times. I absolutely love this spot either for a tasty bite to eat or for a cute spot to catch up with friends. My bestie and I recently came in after a long shopping trip and thoroughly enjoyed everything we chose. From the piccante pizza to the truffle fries, I’m craving it right now just thinking about it. The only reason why I’m giving it four stars is because of the long wait for the food. We sat at the bar and it just seemed like we were fighting for the bartenders attention even though it wasn’t super busy. However, once we did get our food we fell in love with the place once again. For dessert we finally cashed in our free dessert cards that we received at the elite event and got the zeppoli’s which for a lot of people who don’t know are extremely delicious and warm donut bites covered in powdered sugar served with chocolate, Nutella and salted caramel dipping sauce. I’m thinking about going back right now it was so good.

The Quick: The happy hour deserves a full 5 stars. Large cocktail menu and food options at a fraction of the price. Everything was delicious and the vibe was very lively and fun. Cannot wait to return. I recommend the prosciutto and fig pizza– it was outstanding!

Where do I begin! We came for date night, since my date has heard awesome things about the restaurant. Our waitress was super friendly, and very attentive, as well as the manager who was constantly walking around and asking everyone how their meals were. The food is tapas style so they suggest 2 – 4 meals per person. I ordered the salmon and roasted cauliflower both were to die for. My date ordered the filet minion and fried calamari also both awesome. All the food was fresh, presentation was on point and everything came out at reasonable time. My favorite part was the wine list, which went on and on for pages. I’m a big wino I will definitely be going back!

This place has potential but the location of it turns me off. I thought this was a stand alone venue but its located within a shopping center across from Shake Shack. We came in here for happy hour and I got to say for LI they are cheappp! However, you have to sit at the high tops or at the bar in order to get those prices. They have a separate menu during happy hour and this review is solely based on their happy hour. The bartender who was our waitress as well was very friendly and allowed us to sample their white, rose and red sangrias before ordering our drinks and we went with none. It just wasn’t our style; a little too sweet so we all decided to get our own drinks. For food we ordered the following: calamari, arancini, truffle fries, margarita pizza and sausage and broccoli rabe pizza. Starting with the calamari, very small portion for $ 5(probably like 7 pieces total) but you can’t expect much for the price. Decent tasting nothing special. The arancini balls were my least favorite. I expected something more rice-y and more dry. Their arancini balls were prepared with a lot of yellow cheese inside which I could’ve lived without. The truffle fries were very yummy and the truffle flavor was definitely there. It was a good portion to share with 3 people. The pizza pies were a steal at $ 5 each. The margarita and sausage & broccoli rabe were pretty good but again nothing special. This is a place where you can get pretty good deals during happy hour so if you’re looking for a quick fix while shopping, I would probably stop in but it won’t blow you away.

Not as good as they try to make it seem, I wanted to love this place and there are indeed a small handful of good eats to be had, however I am certainly not impressed by our dining experience. After a Unilocal elite event took place I had given them a second try to expand on some of the nice tastes we all got to try. I doubt I’d give them another shot. They are too far to waste my time with. I had won a gift certificate but the place just pales in comparison to other garden city establishments so I probably won’t ever call to pick up said gift card. The pistachio gelato was divine, the risotto is good. That Unilocal event showed us a couple bruschettas and some yummy pork cheek… But my separate visit showed us some other food and it was all quite lack-luster. The Wild Bore gnocchi wasn’t good… It just wasn’t good. The issue with this«Gnocchi Con Chinagale Di Toscana» wasn’t at all the bore. It was the rest of the dish that was boring; the sauce tasted of heavy salt, and the gnocchi was hard as a rock(no not al denté, al awfulé) The bore itself was well braised, tender, and quite tasty but the gnocchi was down-right shameful. We also tried the Carbonara(I’m a carbonara freak!) let me just warn you, if they make it the way they made it for us, all the time… you need to stay clear! The bacon in this dish was the biggest problem, I know you’re probably saying«are you insane, how could bacon ever be an issue… Ever!?» Let me explain to you that this«carbonara» was loaded with smokey, fatty, hard, and gritty bacon you could not chew let alone swallow. The dish really suffered as it permeated the entire thing and left it incapacitated & in the trash. Not much redeemed this meal so with my doubts that we will ever return, I’m not sure I’ll get to put my other doubts to rest about anything here at Spuntino. I really think there’s gotta be something good off this menu, but the execution just wasn’t there that night and I ordered the wrong thing at the wrong time, or maybe it’s just simply the wrong place to go in Garden City.

Arrived later in the evening with a butt load of friends after the Unilocal Cinco de Mayo event nearby. Boy, were we loud !! Always greeted at Spuntino with smiles and fantastic service. I finally got to try the charred octopus and it was absolutely perfect… Lee and I could have eaten a few more small plates of the perfectly grilled octopus on a bed of farro that had the perfect bite to it. The fig and proccuto bar pie was devine, the sweet fig complementing the soft and briny taste of the ham. All and all a fun time and as always, we look forward to returning.

The after party was just as good as the Elite event! The Dynamic Duo Lisa & Lee were already saddled up to the bar when we got there. Jason, Marisa, Vinny, Freddie, Ayhan, Shari & friend had a nice unprompted gathering. Son showed up with his dad. The liquor flowed, all hail the Mediterranean Mule made with Fig Vodka! Lisa let me taste her farro & I enjoyed it. Ayhan & Freddie ordered several pizzas which went so fast I had no time to take a pic. 4 Margherita pies, 1 Mushroom &1 Quattro Formaggio. All very good! The good times continued. By the end of the night we were all one big family! Great night! 5-5-2016

I enjoyed our light dinner at Spuntino. The space itself is beautiful. I had been to the mall a few times and never really thought past what I saw«Oh must be a little wine bar, I should have a few glasses of wine before shopping one day» yet I was happily surprised by the gorgeous and quite large interior. The dishes are all small plates, with the exception of a few larger portioned ones. I would say one small plate is enough to share with one other guest. The bruschetta I assumed would be at least two slices of bread, but was only one — a decent sized one so we were able to have a nice size portion each. Ordered: –pinot grigo on tap as well as a merlot/cab blend on tap —(A+) –3x Prosciutto di parma(started with one order but it was MOUTHWATERING… best I have had)(A++++) –2x parmigiano reggiano(B) –caprese inverno(A+) –grilled shrimp scampi bruschetta(A++++) –truffle french fries(A+) –spaghetti carbonara(C) –spaghetti al pomodoro(B+) –risotto funghi(B) The wine on tap was amazing. I haven’t drank pinot grigio in a while, I have been more into sauvignon blancs. I saw they offered tap wines and had to try. It was crisp, fresh and delicious. The pastas were not all that… but they are a perfect size. I felt as if my carbonara was sitting out? the pomodoro was the best of the three. The truffle fries were shoe string and crispy. Perfect amount of seasoning. Favorite dish had to be the prosciutto and the grilled shrimp bruschetta. Absolutely phenomenal. I have already told a few people about Spuntino and cant wait to come back.

I was in the area and starving, after looking at Unilocal for a nearby recommendation we decided to come here. I like how clean and modern the place is. We started with some wine flights which I found inexpensive for the amount of wine they give you. Then we shared the meatballs, fungi pizza, truffle fries and chicken Milanese. Everything was good but I really loved the meatballs I even order some to go. The service was a bit off but nothing bad enough not to come back.

Consistency and reliability are the two words that come to mind when I think of Spuntino. You can rely on their consistent hospitality along with a large variety of excellent items on the menu. A vast selection of great wines and interesting cocktails — got that too! You like being happy? Well they have TWO happy hours(blocks of hours) during the week(3p-7p, 10p to close). Now tell me — AREYOUNOTENTERTAINED?! On my most recent occasion I experienced their generous happy hour by grabbing a couple of seats at the bar we enjoyed a large Peroni on tap and a glass of their pinot grigio, a nicely sized 6oz pour. As we wait for our drinks a gentleman comes over with a sample of fresh mozzarella with a sweet balsamic dipping sauce — a delicious treat. For food we ordered the calamari, piccante pizza and charred octopus(not on the happy hour menu). The calamari was lightly fried and very tender, a dipping sauce of bright tomato flavor with this. The octopus was very good, with bite sized pieces sitting atop farro, olives, celery and cherry tomatoes with lemon vinaigrette and parsley oil made for an interesting salad like dish. The piccante pizza is well balanced sweet and spicy — the dough is so well made with the right amount of crispiness and chew. I’ve been here on other occasions and lunch time adds various sandwiches to their usual offerings. I have also been fortunate enough to attend a Unilocal Elite event where we were able to sample a large variety of the items — I can say that everything I tried is just incredible. My minor constructive criticisms — it would be nice if the Happy Hour was restaurant wide, not just in the bar area, but to be fair their bar area is quiet large. It would also be great to see them take a cue from the Salumi/Plancha team and offer a pre-selected board(s) of 3 «formaggi» and 3 «salumi» for a bit of discount. There are so many different items that this place would be a great crowd pleaser where everyone would be sure to find something they like. Even if you are flying solo get on in here, because you will not feel alone for long — you will be right at home and feeling good knowing it is probably one of the best decisions you made all day!

Yum! Love this spot for so, so many reasons. The location is awesome and the ambience is cozy and classy. The tapas style menu has so many(almost too many!) options so it is a definite crowd pleaser. The best part? It’s not incredibly expensive like every other tapas place. Doesn’t get much better than that! Today we tried the risotto balls, polenta fries, brussel sprouts, and butternut squash tortellini(with a bellini and some sangria too of course). Everything was delicious! Plenty of food for two people, and they even sent us home with little adorable biscotti to go as well. Our server was awesome and attentive and the manager came around to each table to check in. There is something to be said for detail oriented service — it really sets this spot above the rest. Stop by — I promise you’ll love it!

I’ve been here a few times after my initial visit and Spuntino’s continues to get better and better. Everything I’ve tried is really delicious. I love their meat and cheeses: prosciutto di parma, pecorino tartufato, manchego, etc. — so so so good! The selection isn’t that extensive but what they do have is really very good. The caprese salad and margherita pizza are both great. For simple dishes, these are always made surprisingly well. My friend and I also tried the lamb chops. They were overly salted but certainly a good cut of meat and cooked medium just perfectly. Duck confit bruschetta is another good item to try. I don’t usually order dessert but the ciambelle is SO worth it and great for sharing — house-made doughnuts with dipping sauces and a ton of powdered sugar. The servers and bartenders are usually very kind and friendly and the restaurant is situated in a convenient location — right by Roosevelt Field mall in another shopping center with people passing through all the time. The inside is huge, rustic, dim lighting, and there are plenty of tables and space at the bar. The overall ambiance is typical of a wine bar, just a lot bigger(in a good way). Try it.

Ordered: Caramelized onion bruschetta, Seared tuna bruschetta, Orecchiete con salsiccia and broccoli rabe, Grilled salmon, Lamb chops, Fried artichokes, and Chocolate banana hazelnut cake Pros – The savoriness of the onion balanced well with the sweetness of the goat cheese. The salmon and lamb chops were grilled to perfection. The salmon had a great fig mustard glaze on top. The artichokes came with a light dijon herb sauce which balanced out the heaviness of the fried aspect. The waiter was very attentive to filling up our waters. Cons – The cake was too dry and the red syrup that accompanied it tasted more like cherry cough medicine.

One Sunday evening October 2015 as I checked in here, Amanda the hostess added some warmth to the cool, boderline chilly, light jacket not quite coat weather. What a delightful young lady! The restaurant wasn’t even half filled but I still opted to sit at the bar. I find you get the real essence of a place that way. I looked around and liked what I saw. The«walls of wine» were just gleaming at me. I named it that because their wines are stored in cages(sort of) around the bar, creating a separation between the dining area and bar. As I sat down, Kenroy the bartender immediately approached me. After being told it was my first time he brought over menus and explained them in detail. He’s charming and(as he should be) very Knowledgeable of their food and drinks. He made my drink order so correctly! I sampled the charred Octopus, the arancini(risotto balls) and their margherita(pizza). I think the octopus is very much overrated. Don’t get me wrong, it was okay, but judging the million and one Unilocal pictures of this dish that appeared in almost every Unilocalers order I expected more. I guess a million and one Unilocalers can actually be wrong… to me. The risotto dish isn’t sexy to look at, no fancy dress etc but to taste him is to fall in quick love and wish you had ordered all risotto! After the bill was settled Kenroy offered more drinks. «Why thank you sir!» When I was finished and asked for my second bill I was informed that the last drink was on him. Woot-WOOT! This Jamaican brother knows what’s up! He was probably at the front of my customer service class why I didn’t see him. I like sitting at the back and all… but as usual, I’m straying. He’s on point! He even posed for my pictures. I HIGHLY recommend here for any occasion. Well except a dancehall Queen event. Not here. Thank you for a wonderful experience Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas! You rock! The End
