Our own little generic version of Bourbon St. right in our back yard! And we still love it! Shops, bars, restaurants, and lovely architecture all in one place. Perfect place to have drinks with your girls or have a nice romantic/crazy night with your significant other or maybe a family day out!

I wasn’t particularly impressed by The Strand. We went during off season and off weekend. If you adore shopping, there are various stores selling anything from obnoxious t-shirts to pricey jewelry. We didn’t frequent any of the pubs or eatery’s so this isn’t a review of them. We parked by Fisherman’s Wharf and strolled around barely over an hour — it cost us 8 dollars for parking. That’s ridiculous. In fact, all parking concerning Galveston is ridiculous. Listen up, Galveston, screw the tourists over and they stop visiting. Oh, and while waiting at a red light to turn into the Fisherman’s Wharf parking lot, an 18-wheeler backed up and hit my car. I guess he overshot the crosswalk. We couldn’t back up because of traffic behind us. I have a snapshot of his license plate(58C5SD). And he just took off. That’s another thing Galveston, locals don’t respect your traffic laws. Is that because your officers are too busy harassing tourists at weddings rather than enforcing the laws? We witnessed so many red light running — blatant traffic violations. I don’t know if we’ll come back. We probably won’t without the number of a good attorney.

Nice downtown area in Galveston, although it’s not too big. The buildings have a unique look, and there are a lot of restaurants and shops. Definitely come here if you’re in the area, and eat some ice cream or check out some of the shops.

A must do for anyone visiting the island. Galveston is in old town with much forgotten history. I would advise taking a walking tour, ghost tour or carriage ride to hear great stories of the days of old. Definitely a step back in time. Make sure to visit Le King’s Confectionary and all the little shops too.
