Galveston Chili Cook-off and Bike Extravaganza

With a ding on my forehead, perhaps they thought I got in a fight or fell out of bed. Nah. They welcomed all. I was warmly greeted and enjoyed the chili and the people at this event.

First one of this planned annual event, sponsored by bars: The Loading Dock, Jacks Pub, The Press Box and The Third Coast.
$ 2500 prize for winner of best chili.

I did not see any trouble-​maker bikers, just bike fans and a few strays like me.
An empty parking lot (probably a building before Ike) showcased custom bikes. Clever, skilled work and some creative thought went into these.
The chili teams had themes, of course. A couple of booths had Hooters-​qualified team members.
Verdict on the chili: Not a bad chili in the bunch, and a few pretty good ones (I only tried 5 of the dozen or so because they give you too much in a bowl).
