Don’t go to Wally World and have buyer’s remorse. Do it right the first time, shop at Island Bicycle Co. These are good people who support their community. They helped a local disabled man obtain a 3-wheeler for transportation. Good karma in this place.

brought my bike«specialized 7 speed» in for a tune up – that included, fixing squeak in seat, calibrating brakes, tuning spokes… a new kickstand because bike barn in houston where i purchased… put one on that was cut too short. you’d think buying a $ 450 bike – they’d care enough to put something on correctly. anyway…totally happy with the cost of this tune up – less than $ 60 and a 48 hour turnaround. great selection of bikes, parts and accessories too. Dropped by to see if they could check out my bike after crash and they said I had to drop it off. Disappointed. Any other shop I think would at least take a look.

After stuffing our bellies full of seafood, we decided to spend the beautiful Saturday afternoon bike riding along the seawall. We stopped at Island Bicycle company to rent a surrey bike. They have many different options to chose from including mountain bikes, tandem bikes, surreys, and surrey limos. Inside the store has a wide variety of bikes and accessories for sale. Our surrey rental accommodated 3 people and seating upfront for small children. Only the people seated on the outside pedal and the center person is just a passenger. The surrey was easy to steer and maneuver along the sidewalk. Do check to make sure everything is working order before leaving. Our bell didn’t work and it would have come in handy on the crowded sidewalks.

I took my bike here to get a new tube in my rear tire. They took me right away and had it done in about 5 – 10 minutes, and the cost was only a few dollars more than buying my own tube. One of the employees helped me take off the front tire and load the bike into my car. When I got home, I couldn’t figure out how to hook the brake back up(I’m sort of new to biking), so I took it in a couple of days later and they showed me how to do it. My overall service experience was really positive, though I’ve never tried renting or buying, so i can’t speak about that.

I was in Galveston for a conference and had a free day to explore the island. After cabbing from my hotel to Island Bicycle Co(which everyone told me «they have all types of bikes to rent») I asked the guy working the counter if I could rent a mountain/road bike. He told me «well, I didn’t even get any of them out to rent today… it’s slow season and all. You can rent one of those beach cruisers if you want» When I said, no, I want a real bike(I’m a distance rider) he said, «actually, we’re going to close early today anyway because of the weather.» It was warm and cloudy. Didn’t really seem interested in my business, so I left. I understand«slow season» and the laid-back«island attitude» but indifference is a poor business model.

I bought my 2 Phat beach Cruisers here. He works with you to custom order your bikes and I received them in record time. I researched these bike and have had them over a year now and am 100% happy with them and Island Bicycle Company’s service which I bring my bikes to for tune ups.

There are two things that can break up a happy couple: an affair and a tandem bike ride… O_O… Just kidding, we had a lot of fun, I would definitely try it out. We got two hours, but one would have been fine. 3 stars because the bike they gave us was pretty crappy. The tires didn’t have enough air, the hand break was busted, the chain need grease. If you check a bike out from them, give it a good look before taking it out.

Ive gone to this place several times and didnt recieve help. I almost bought mine, my wifes and 5 kids bikes from this guy, but instead went off the island. He does no work on the weekends because its«crazy» but yet he sits on his computer. In one instance, when looking to buy my bike, his staff was extremly rude. I live on the island and have never had a pleasant experience here. I prefer to go off the island for my bike needs.

Rented a few bikes with some friends back in May, and had a good experience here. We all reserved our bikes online, which saved us a few dollars versus just walking in the door. The guy at the counter seemed to be expecting us and was very easy-going and nice. He also gave us all locks to use with the bikes after we asked for them. The bikes were generally in pretty good condition, but definitely were not perfect. For example, I realized once we got out on our cruise that my bike had a broken bell, making it a little difficult to warn pedestrians if I was approaching them. Next time I’ll be sure to look for things like this prior to riding away from the shop.

We use this place every time we rent bikes in Galveston. The staff is friendly and the bikes are pretty decent. You have a selection of bikes to choose from too. You can also reserve your bike online and save a few dollars. I reserved a cruiser for two hours online for $ 12, instead of $ 16 in the store. It’s worth it! They do have ‘all day’ rentals if you want to bike longer. The store also functions as a bike shop. So, if you’re in the market, you can buy a new bike there too!

I rented a cruiser from this place a few weekends ago to get some sun and have some«me» time. The bike functioned properly, it had adjustable seat height, the seat was comfortable, it was in average cosmetic shape, it had a cup-holder on the handlebar, and it had a pouch secured to the handlebars that was big enough to fit my sandals, shirt, and keys. I was able to make it to the east and west end of the seawall before my 2 hours was up. The guy that checked it out to me seemed nice enough. I will probably come back within a month. No complaints.
