read an article in a local magazine —thot id give it a try for fresh meats and to support local… but, meh,…wont be going back.
nice people run it… but, the quality isnt good enough for my taste.

H&R has been a fixture in Galveston for decades and, like many similar local businesses, has seen better times. The sorry condition of the building exterior provides a good idea of the interior décor, and the individuals loitering outside can look forbidding. However, don’t let all of this scare you away. H&R has perhaps the best home-​made sausage that I have ever had. The jalapeño links have a well-​deserved local reputation and the snap of the natural casing is something you will not find in commercial brands, even those that claim to have natural casing. Homemade boudin and other sausages are also available at surprisingly reasonable prices. The owners should consider focusing on their sausage business and dropping the attempts to maintain a grocery store.
