While visiting Houston for a half marathon, I was playing tourist in Galveston and passed by this delightful shop. I didn’t really need anything but thought I’d wander in. I’m so glad I did and if you are a runner or are thinking about running, you should go here too! It was a lazy Friday afternoon so the store was quiet but Kim and her handsome colleague were eager to help with any questions. We discussed running and various races and she showed me a new type of water bottle that is locally fabricated in Texas. Even though I hadn’t intended to purchase anything, she found me something that really met a need I had. This is a full service running store and if you are a long time runner or are contemplating Couch to 5K, they have merchandise, service and training to meet your needs. Run, don’t walk, to Fit TRI Run!

I needed shoes, I knew where to go. Kim took her time to find out what I needed and proceeded to find the perfect shoes. I love being able to find and support a local business. No where will you find the customer service like a locally owned business.

I really love that Galveston not only has a local shop for runners, but that it is so awesome within the community! They have training programs for half-marathoners and marathoners and promote weekly meetup runs/walks. I like to pop in once in a while and check out their merchandise. As a poor grad student, I love that I don’t feel pressured by the employees to buy anything every time I come into the store. Great store, great location; support local businesses!

Kitchen Chick was momentarily closed and paybyphone was ticking rapidly, so I dashed in here looking for something comfy… Kim listened to my ortho story and suggested these sandals. DONOTWEAR your Jimmy Choos on the Strand, That statement applies for all genders. I fell(no pun intended) for Oofos Oolala Thong sandals, only color currently in stock is Turquoise, the 30 pairs of flip flops in my closet will be heading south-these sandals are made in Korea, that is the only downside thus far. My arches have not fallen but these sandals will catch them if they should. The slimmer footbed is ideal for a narrow foot, and the snug feeling is secure, and surprisingly trendy. Probably can chase 3 toddlers and herd cats in these sandals. The $ 59 price was atypical of what one would pay at a Big Box. Kim was extremely helpful, great store for Galveston, snagged $ 5 t-shirts for runners in my family. Failed to ask if these sandals can be washed in the top rack of the dishwasher.

Really great local place to buy shoes and clothing for your running/athletic needs. All of the staff is super helpful and will watch you run to help you pick out shoes that best fits your gait. You can tell they are very passionate about what they do and truly want you to get something that fits your needs. They also having running training programs through USA Fit, which are great and fun runs on Saturday mornings. Slightly more pricey then you could get from a bigger retail store, however worth it to pay it for their customer service!

This place is the best! From the moment you walk in you are greeted by whoever is working which is usually one of the two owners. They will help you find the right pair of shoes and assist you with all your running needs(nutrition, accessories, etc). You can easily tell that they really care about their customers because they will take the time with you and you can hear the passion they have for their sport, and also the knowledge of all the products they sell. They carry a wide variety of merchandise and if they don’t have what you need they will do what they can to get it for you. If you have questions about running itself, they’ll gladly share it with you. This place is the heart of the Galveston Running/Triathlon/Walking community and no matter what your needs you will get them here. They organize many events and training programs as well. This is a definite must stop for any runner/walker/triathlete(or family member or friend of one if you’re looking for something to get the athlete in your life). They really do care about making sure you get the right product/shoe for you, if you have any problems, returning or exchanging is never a hassle and they will take the time to help you figure out what went wrong and what can be done to fix it. So if you’re in the need of some expert advice, don’t even think twice about stopping by FITTRIRUN!

I went to purchase some sandals & protein powder & was told that my size sandal was not in stock, & they would have to be ordered. I paid in advance for sandals & protein powder, with gift cards & a credit card. I received a call about an hour later by the male owner stating that my sandal size was actually in stock, & overlooked by the clerk. When I arrived a few days later to pick up my sandals, I was interrogated by the female owner. She brought my sandals out, asked me how I got the gift certificates, informed me that they were expired, & that the store would have to just ‘lose’ the price of my sandals, & she didn’t really want to give them to me. I told her at the time of purchase I didn’t realize that, since there was no expiration date on the gift certificates. What was the expiration date? She could not answer that, & informed me that although an expiration notice was erroneously left off of the gift certificates, they were indeed, expired. She really nailed into me as soon as I entered her store. I felt like I was on the witness stand! I’m glad that there were no other customers or employees in the store at the time, because I felt very embarrassed & uncomfortable. Needless to say, I just wanted to get the heck out of there, & left without my sandals. :(

Took my family there for new shoes and needed help/advice for dealing with pain issues. Kim was very patient and helpful. Overall a great experience and HIGHLY recommend. They’re not just gonna sell you any shoe. They want what’s best for you individually.

I am not a runner. The people at at Fit Tri Run didn’t snob out on me when I went in looking for a good pair of shoes to start running. Instead, they were friendly and helpful and excited to help me better myself and be a part of their community. I was also VERY surprised at the prices. Being a small business, I expected to pay a much higher price than the bigger stores. I did not. The prices were more than reasonable for the high quality product I left with.

I have to share this story for the skeptics out there like me who can’t fathom how paying $ 15 for a pair of running socks could possibly make enough of a difference that it would be worth switching over from my $ 9.99 for 20pairs brand of socks. I mean, socks are socks… Right? NOOOO!!! I’m one of those people who lives by the motto, «don’t believe the hype» until I’m hurting in some way. Having 2 parents as physical therapists(& being 37 w/not so great knees) they have convinced me of the value of really good shoes but until I accidentally walked out of Fit Tri Run w/a pair of these«super socks» on accident bc I wanted to wear my new shoes out I NEVERWOULDHAVEBELIEVEDSOCKS could make such a difference in how my feet felt after 1hr of elliptical, 2miles of running & then weight training. Being the skeptic that I am I did the same workout 2 days later in my crappy socks, paying attention to how my feet felt. HUGEDIFFERENCE! I never thought I’d say this but I’m headed in to buy my first pair of $ 15 socks & have no guilt about it. I need all the help I can get… Oh & I’m returning the ones I accidentally shoplifted bc I gotta keep my karma clean ;) Sincerely a surprised & happy customer, Kelly Mullis

I had always bought shoes at places like Academy, where you are pretty much on your own. About a year ago, I decided to get serious about getting in shape, and running was part of my plan. My boss had recommended Fit Tri Run, so I checked them out. I was very impressed with how much individual attention they give. They really pay attention to what you say and what you need, and ask the right questions. Kimberly had me walk and jog several times to watch my form, and picked out some shoes she felt would work well for me. It was such a positive experience that I went back for a new pair a few months ago, and I don’t see any other running shoe stores in my future. In addition, Fit Tri Run has been VERY supportive of the running community in the Galveston area. I don’t remember nearly as many running events taking place before they opened. I also joined their training program last spring, and it was VERY helpful, especially as someone who had never had any coaching on running. I hope to be a part of the program again this coming spring!
