The owner of this shop is a rude, racist, extremely mean individual. My family and I(husband, our 3 kids ages 17, 11, and 6; we also had our two nieces ages 11 and 7) stopped in to do some shopping. My 11 year old niece accidentally broke one of those sand and sea shells in a glass bottle souvenirs. As soon as he heard the crash, the owner came over yelling, «Be careful over there… you break it you pay for it… bring me a broom and charge them $ 2.00…» He was loud enough for the whole strand to hear. My niece was terrified; here comes this big loud mouthed scary guy yelling to the whole store that she broke something. He was carrying on and on and finally my husband said, «Hey relax, we will pay for it.» Then the guy flipped out even more, saying that we should«Watch our kids… I watch my kids I don’t let them break things… You should watch your kids better.» Now he is insulting us, my kids, and implying that we have bad kids and we are bad parents. I said to him, «Don’t even go there, now you’re really being a jerk!» Which really ticked him off. He said to us that«You need to leave, get the f**k out of my store… I’m going to call the cops… give me my two dollars!» My husband is saying to him that he needed to calm down, we were more than willing to pay for the broken bottle. I’m telling my oldest to get the kids out of the store because this psycho is going off on us, cussing and threatening to call the police! My niece thought she was in so much trouble! She was so upset and mortified. I pulled out $ 2 in change and slammed it on a table because I refused to hand it to him because I didn’t want to get near him. On our way out of the store he actually FOLLOWED us out the door and said to my husband, who is white, «I didn’t come across the river to get here… you need to watch your kids… get the f**k out of my store. «Basically saying that I am illegal(I’m Mexican, born and raised in the states, along with my parents and grandparents who were also all born in the states, btw). All this in his middle eastern, or something, accent. Some other employee had to come out and get him and take him back into the store. I have no idea what this man’s problem is. He could have calmly approached us and talked to rationally. You know, like normal people do. My niece was so upset it took us the rest of the afternoon to get her to feel better. Who does that to a little kid? My other kids were really upset by this as well. As we were driving away I just could not believe that had actually just happened. All over a cheap little souvenir.

What drew me to this establishment was signage for an ice cream shop inside the store. Indeed, they sell Blue Bell Ice Cream here! As for goods, Dolphin World is the typical beachwear/accessory/souvenir shop on the Seawall. I managed to pick up a beach towel custom emblazoned with a Galveston logo for an average price.
