Converted fire station into brewpub. Who doesn’t love that charm. Beer is damn tasty too. Probably one of the only trendy more upscale-ish(read not pub) places with style to go to if visiting Knox college and from the city. Be ware the kitchen closes early.

Wonderful lunch! I had a delicious salmon croissant which was spectacular! I had the brew cheese ale soup as a side and it was delicious, it reminded me of an aged cheese. My daughter and I shared chips and guacamole which was good but should have been better if the chips had been warm. My daughter had a Caesar wrap and said it was very good.

Pretty good beer. Nice environment. Pretty good food. Can’t beat that within walking distance of the train.

Been eating at the Spike since they opened. The brewmaster is really starting to come into his own. Food is top notch. Recommend the porterhouse pork chop or any of the burgers. Kitchen overcooks the steaks; if you like medium, order medium rare. Service can get slow when they’re busy, and strangely enough, when they’re super slow, too, probably because they understaff a little during off-peak. Beer prices are great.

I’m a big supporter of local breweries and Iron Spike does not disappoint. Their regular beers are all quite good and their guest beers are nice. They also do some interesting things with the specialty brews(I remember a peanut butter stout at some point). They have some really nice food with only a couple things that miss their mark. The fish tacos, any burger, and nachos are some of their best dishes; the only negative thing I have to say is that the amount of time it takes to get your food can be a little long. But if you’re thinking about going in to get a beer and a burger it’s hard to do better.

Started with a flight of beers — 9 well poured selections. Then had the fried pickle wedges with a great batter. Bacon bbq burger and salmon melt as well as the buffalo burger on special. All delicious options with a great beer selection. We will definitely be back!

Food seems a little overpriced for what you get but their beers are great. The Peanut Buster Porter they have right now is dangerously good. I’ve enjoyed my drinking experience each time I’ve been there but I’ll only order food if I’m starving.

Nice place to hang out with friends and families. It is very spacious and the restaurant /bar broadcast sports so good to come with sports fan to watch the games. Also they serve the best draft beer in the town. They have their own brewing machine in the place so it is guaranteed that you will get the best fresh beer. Also the food is good recommend to try any of the sandwich or burger.

We had a great Sunday afternoon lunch at the Iron Spike. I had four nice samples of their beers based on recommendation from our helpful and charming waitress; the coffee stout, peanut butter porter, pale ale and IPA. All were delicious. I had the fish tacos, which were really good. Great blackened mahi mahi with a tasty sauce, fresh tomatoes with tiny diced jalapeños and crispy cabbage slaw. Delish. My sons had the Spicy Asian crunch burger and the BLT. Both were really good and the French fries were obviously made from fresh potatoes, fried to crispy potatoey goodness. The downside was the Caesar salads my parents ordered which were so-so. All in all, a great little micro brewery and restaurant. I would go back.

I am a big fan of Iron Spike. I live 45 minutes away and took a random drive one Saturday to just check out Galesburg. I wasn’t disappointed. I ate somewhere else but a person there told me to go check out Iron Spike and I am glad I took the advice! I came back with my husband in tow and he loved it too. I have not tried many of their beers but I can say their octoberfest seasonal is pretty good. My husband had the sunrise burger since he didn’t have breakfast– the bacon and egg on top made it a justifiable brunch. The burger was juicy, fixins top notch and bun is pretty good but maybe a little small and got soggy. The fries were okay but could be crispier. I did the black and blue portabella mushroom ‘burger’ and it was pretty good too. Coleslaw was great– has a unique flavor twist. My favorite thing about this place is the place itself. It’s an historic fire house turned brewery done right. The space is open and modern but retains that cool historic touch. I’ll keep making the trip to come back to Iron Spike!

I SOOO wanted this place to be good. Alas, while the place delivered on the beer side, the food was disappointing. I tried their IPA and porter and both were tasty and quite enjoyable. We had appetizers of fried pickles(good) and spinach-artichoke dip(mediocre — chips were flimsy and the dip was strangely neither spinachey or artichokey). My entrée of pork chop was overcooked but since it was brined, it was edible. The best thing on my plate was the roasted zucchini and squash(sad). The fried fish in the fish and chips were soggy and listless. The fish tacos were uninspired — there were three tacos, and one didn’t have any fish!

This place is great. The service was fantastic as was the food and beer. Had the soft pretzel and beer cheese appetizer. We had a sunrise burger, club wrap, buffalo chicken sandwich and the grilled cheese with french fries and mac and cheese as sides. Everything was great. I had a Peach Wheach beer which tasted great. I really liked the atmosphere of this place. If you are in the area, I highly recommend trying Iron Spike.

First time here, don’t waste your time, mediocre food and bad customer service. Went with my daughter in law and grandchildren. While waiting for our food we asked for a couple of pickles for the kids, which were brought out. Food came out and the 6 dollar kids meals consisted of half of a grilled cheese and burnt fries. The children, who love fries, wouldn’t touch them. I let the server know I wasn’t looking for a refund but most kids wouldn’t eat burnt fries. Then came the bill, which uncovered they had charged me 6 dollars for 2 pickles! I asked for a manager, spoke with the night manager, he said, «what do you want me to do about it»? I told him nothing. I told him I would let people know of the horrible customer service and he told me to go right ahead.

Great beer, average food. I had the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were good, but the cheesy grits were so so. My wife had the black and bleu burger and it had almost no bleu cheese. This place is worth going to for the beer alone. This was the first time that we ate there, but I would definitely go back.

I enjoyed the Conductor brew it was going down nice and smooth. I had the fish tacos and they were good. My mom had the Ribs, they fell right off the bone. My dad had some kind of pasta he said it was tasty. We also had the fried pickles. First time having those and man, I can say I am a fan!

Solid beers from a newish local brewery. The Ruben is made with real, perfectly spiced corned beef. Not the deli meet crap you find sometimes. Will return next time passing through.

I was here for an alumni event and these folks took great care of us. They have upstairs banquet facilities that perfectly accommodated our group. The food was pretty good for banquet food and far better than I have been served at the majority of alumni events in Galesburg. Good selection of beers too. I think my favorite was their cream ale. Given that I had a long drive, I requested and received a short pour. Glad the event committee picked this place!

Was recommended I try Iron Spike next time I was in town and I would have to say I was surprised. I had the Bacon and Guacamole burger and it was great. The best surprise was the hand cut fries that come with the burger as they were AMAZING! They had 8 craft beers on tap from Iron Spike and an additional 6 from other breweries labeled Guest Brews. I had the Night Train which is an oatmeal stout and it was great after a long day. Will be back next time I am in Galesburg.

3.5 stars This brewpub is a nice addition to Galesburg. It is a clean attractive refurbishment of an old space, and so has a slightly different feel than other Galesburg bars. The focus is on a rotating selection of craft beers, brewed on-site. I’ve tried several different kinds over several months. The flavor profile is in an American style, so that for instance wheat beers taste of banana rather than citrus. In general the beers are very good, from lagers to ales to stouts. It’s worth visiting just to try the beers. 4.5 stars for the beer. But the food is another story. It’s gastropub food yes, but the gastro element is lacking. The menu aspires to better than the kitchen delivers. Compared to the better-than-average to high product of the brewery, the food falls flat. 2 stars for the food. Bottom line: stick to the brews.
