I went twice last month. the food was really good. I usually order a waffle and stuff but I had a wild hair and ordered a sausage biscuit off the dollar menu. I ask if they would add a slice of tomato and onion. The waitress said now that’s down home country. I knew it was… but it was sooo good. They are always friendly and busy, but the turnover is pretty quick.

During the day, this is a regular Waffle House. It’s at night that this location gets interesting. Apparently, there’s a cast of regular customers who gather almost every night to entertain each other and any on-lookers with teasing, jokes, and«Chicken City»(Gainesville) insider gossip. The center of all the activity is Peggy, who is, as WH calls her, a salesperson, not a waitress. She hustles around with energy, good-will, and give-and-take while making sure the eggs are hot, the sausage is sizzlin’, the coffee is steamin’, and the grits are nice and buttery. After midnight, the about-to-be hungover crowd shows up to fight brain cramps via massive carbo cramming. This is country/western/redneck/emo/soul confluence at its very finest! Make sure to add pecans to your waffles, ya’ll! Tip the little lady when you’re finished!

A Waffle House is pretty much a Waffle House. This location didn’t offer me any reason to rank them especially high or low. My server was attentive, and kept my drink filled, the cheesy eggs were out quickly, and tasted great, especially after a long day of driving. This location has the largest area BEHIND the counter that I remember seeing at a WH. Usually the crew is squeezing by one another as they prepare and serve food; not here. Looked like a 4-lane highway. Parking lot was very dark.
