Went in with a failed experiment of what was a DIY haircut. Couldn’t leave the house without my hat on. The good people at FAB did a great job! Wait time was a reasonable 5 minutes. $ 17 for a haircut for adult males. Maybe a dollar or two more than what I’d pay elsewhere but completely worth it! Would definitely go there again if I am in the area.(Plus free popcorn!!!)

What can I say — Long Sleeve Steve is the man! By far the best haircut my son has ever gotten — every time. He’s patient and kind and really knows how to do a fade! Have had to go elsewhere out of necessity and wind up disappointed every time.

I have been to this shop a couple of times and have not been disappointed. The first time I went was for a trim and a close shave. I really enjoyed the treatment. The barber was really friendly and we joked around a bit and I left satisfied with my cut. I went back again and sar Mr. Lee for a significant cut and a beard trim. Again the service was friendly and he asked me to clearly state how I wanted it cut and styled. I have never gotten a better haircut before in my life. That may sound like hyperbole, but believe me it is not. Either that or everybody is just saying I look great with my new haircut. My mom thinks I’m handsome…

Been here twice since I moved back to the area and each time Dan has totally hooked me up!!! All the barbers there can cut and they take the time to personalize each cut with their witty personalities and friendly smiles. Most unique Barber Shop I’ve ever been to and I look forward to going for years to come…

Wow! Walked in and was hit by the cool nostalgic décor and free popcorn. No waiting, they took my son as soon as we walked in the door. They have 8 stations. $ 17 for men, $ 14 for boys 12& under.

Does anyone know where Jimmy and Brad went? Please let us know if they went to another local shop. This place is average without them!

These folks are a great operation. Personable hair professionals that always listen to your instructions. I’ve been going here for cuts for 5 years and never had a problem.

I have received a haircut from Ken twice and I will be going back for my third cut soon. The good: Even when they are busy, you get seen quickly as they have many barbers on-hand. My haircut, at least with Ken, has been consistently good(based on my wife’s assessment). Free popcorn; this is good for the kids. The not-so-good: Most of the barbers, including Ken, are not fluent in English. They do not accept credit cards and their ATM charges $ 3 or $ 4 per withdrawal. Overall, as long as you remember to have cash in your wallet and don’t mind a little awkward silence during your haircut, this is a pretty good place. It would be 5-stars if they accepted CC’s and I spoke Korean(Vietnamese?). Update: Ken was out for the day and I had a guy named Slim Jim cut my hair. He did a great job and was very friendly.

I always pass by this shop when I am headed to the running store. Been to many barbers all over NOVA and this one by far had the cleanest floors and most people working. I was maybe in there for 30 secs and I was helped right away, that never happens… seems like there is always a wait at other places. As for the haircut I very much enjoy it… I could tell Handy Dan was very experienced and knew what he was doing. Also he spoke good English which is sometimes hard to find in this area. I got a classic military style haircut with a three quarters fade and short on top. I give this place a five and recommend it to anyone in the area. I’ll definitely be going back!

These guys do a really nice job of cutting your hair for a very reasonable price. No wait either. Walked right in, unlike Hair Cuttery.

«Fancy» Nancy cut my husband’s hair yesterday afternoon. My husband has a flat top and it has been hard finding non-military barbers that can cut it correctly. Nancy is very skilled and we will be coming back to this location. 5 stars for sure

«Fancy Nancy» took care of my haircut, beard shaping and shave. She was patient, and made sure she and I both understood what I was asking for and what I wanted. She also was forgiving when I had to go to an ATM to fetch cash.

Iron man Brad is the best!!! Word of mouth from a fellow LEO sent me to the ONLY person to get a flattop haircut from! Its a lost art and not even on a military base can you get those anymore! Its definitely worth the 20 bucks I pay, 16 for cut and 4 for Brad.

I’ve been getting my haircut at the American Barber shop for the last few years. Overall I think it is a great barber shop. Their prices are reasonable, and they include a razor shave with each cut. Like any barber shop they have good and bad barbers. Ally is good as is Kitty. Once I pick a barber, I usually stick with them until they leave. I would have rated the shop better, but I just experienced very bad customer service this evening. My son and I were parking directly in front of the shop 5 minutes before closing time. The barber in the first chair put the closed sign on the door and locked it just as we were walking up. I stood at the door assuming they would let us in(like most mom and pop shops would). I could see the clock on their wall and it read 3 minutes to 4pm. I was shocked they wouldn’t let us or the gentleman next to us in. I expect that kind of service from chain stores, but not from a family business.

This is one of the best barber businesses I have ever been to. You can get a really good cut from either Ally or Jimmy, they are both very talented.

So, my BF isn’t from around here, but was looking for a barber shop… of course I ran to Unilocal and found this one. He loved it! We’d looked in the window while walking by before and saw all the statues(Elvis, Policeman, Blues Bros, etc. But forgot all about it until now. We went right in and was seated with Ally, I believe her name was. She was great. She did exactly what he asked and was very nice. The place is cool too look at, too. LIke I said, statues, some old Chevy back seat car turned seat for those waiting… and FREE self serve popcorn, too. He spent $ 20 on a cut and shave, but not the close shave with the hot towel I’ve heard about… guess he got the cheaper version with just the clippers. He will deifnitely be back and was very pleased with the service and the cut. He looks so handsome!

Stopped here on the way home from work. I had been putting off getting a haircut since the SuperCuts in Manassas closed. Decided to check out this place since the reviews were good on here. I walked in and got seated right away. There weren’t any other customers there but while I was in the chair about 4 other customers came in. My problem is getting a haircut that doesn’t look too military. The woman did an ok job. This place seems to cater well to kids. It wasn’t anything special and I paid $ 14 for the cut. This place is cash only although they have an atm. Personally, that’s a negative for me.

I continue to protect my left elbow since surgery — so it’s hard for me to do certain things easily — things that require me to lift and use my left arm and elbow, such as shaving. I had gone about 5 days without a shave — so to spiff up in preparation for Christmas day, I went in for a face and neck shave. Apparently this location is related to the other location in Gainesville Square that I tried a couple of weeks ago — but this one is a bit more spacious — the other location is so narrow it made you feel like you were in a hallway. Along the counter are life-sized statues or mannequins or «famous» people: Elvis, a baseball player, an old school golfer, a fireman, a policeman, and so on. There were a lot of people waiting to get haircuts when I walked in — you take a number and sit down to wait. When it was my turn, a young Asian woman sat me down in her chair, I told her what I wanted, she proceeded with what I wanted. She used an electric trimmer on my face, then an industrial style Norelco like electric shaver, then she lathered me up and shaved me with a straight razor. Afterwards, she put a hot towel on my face. Feels really good! Nice job, I may come back here again!
