It’s an okay place that is over priced. Not much selection and little to no personality to the location/décor/character. Last time I was there, there was just the bartender and three of her friends who would periodically just leave the bar and just make a lot of noise; considering it is a very small venue, definitely didn’t get a great vibe. PLUS all their tables are wobbly or broken.

If you want to feel like you’re interrupting the cool kids’ clique, get hassled for wanting to split a high ABV beer with your buddy(because that’s their one and only beer on tap, and you and said buddy have already had a few beers), and then wait for your drink while she has to talk to her friends, you are going to love this place! I would go on, but the other reviews pretty much nail it. I’m not one who goes around only posting bad reviews, but this place left an especially bad impression. It has no niche and there are 10 other places within in walking distance that would much better serve you. Can’t comment on the beer, we all walked out before she got around to actually serving it.

Two stars for cheap craft beer. This place was a joke. They took the al out, turned on all the lights, bought an ipad, killed the music, and displayed really bad art. beer was cheap though…

I’m a little perplexed at the existence of this space. I guess let me start off by saying I was a huge fan of The Alcove(the former business in this location). It appears that after that space closed, somebody snapped it up immediately and decided to re-theme it into a wine bar. I may have that wrong, but that is how it is categorized here on Unilocal.I’m not reviewing it as a «wine bar», per se, but more as a spot to hang out, like The Alcove used to be. For what it’s worth. My drink of choice is always beer. The beer selection here pales in comparison to The Alcove — but I guess that’s to be expected, since this place is trying to be something different. A few of the usual Swamphead beers on draft, and some other forgettable ones(but at least mildly interesting). So I guess I can’t fault them much. If their focus is solely on wine, and they say«well, we have to fill these beer taps with something», they made some decent choices there. I can’t comment on the wines or selection. The décor has me stumped. They are new, and maybe need some time to develop something of substance, but I just remember a stark white wall on the south side. The north wall is brick. It used to have a warm, homey feel to it. The new space has no substance to it. Nothing of interest. Cold and bleak, almost. The bartender, while freindly enough, did not seem very knowledgeable on the beer. Not that I was testing her, but she was a dead giveaway while trying too hard to be knowledgable about something she wasn’t very familiar with. Oh well. At least she was still very nice when my friend and I sat for a good 30 minutes with glasses empty and showing no interest of ordering anything else while we finished our conversation. we felt welcome to stay, so that was nice. The music selection that evening consisted of an iPad-controlled Pandora app that was passed around between the patrons sidled up to the bar. I guess that’s the newfangled jukebox of today or something. But I found it annoying. I’d rather have the music selected and playing, and not have to see and hear everybody monkeying around with it. The«cash register» was also The Square app on the iPad. Hrmm. This is more than I thought I would write about this place. No offense to anyone who gave this a go and sought to venture out into their own business. I applaud that. But I can’t for the life of me find any reason why this place should exist. At least not as I experienced it. Maybe I’m just sad and bitter about The Alcove closing down.
