Went with my wife and her two friends. I got summer rolls(= 2 rolls) and dumplings(= 4small) and the seafood soup for appetizers. All of these were good. The dumplings looked more like small pot stickers. Her friends got sushi and a crispy noodle dish that was huge. My wife got the banh canh which is chicken, shrimp, pork, vegetable and noodle soup, she liked it & it was a large bowl. I got the phở tai which is basically noodle and beef soup, not as good as I’ve had at other restaurants.

Anything cooked is overcooked. Miso soup served tepid 2 wks ago, was ok last night. Sushi? meh… Wines are often out of stock and what is available is mostly disappointing. Service is hit or miss. Best feature is the phở. However, a horrible odor like sewer backup pervades bathrooms, even clings to people coming out of them. Wonder if that’s why my dining partner was deathly ill this morning??? Health Dept needs to visit.

Thanks for making our family dinner enjoyable! We came on a Thursday night at 6PM and got a table for eight with no problem. A variety of food was ordered from sushi to chicken and rice dishes. Oh, now that I think about it we also decided to do the fried desserts! OMG I have never had a fried Oreo before, but this Asian restaurant sells them, with ice cream! I’m glad we ordered the fried Oreos as one big group because one was more than enough but a great experience that I would try again. We had wine for the adults, and the kids were very happy as well. I would definitely return to this restaurant again.

I had their tasty drinks and phở. The drinks weren’t good but the phở was awesome.

Have very mixed feelings about this place. While I love their crispy noodles and duck soup with rice noodles, the sushi and tempura veggies was not nearly as good. The tempura veggies came in a huge portion and was just heavily battered carrot sticks, onion rings, and some other unappetizing veggies. I’ve ordered takeout twice from here also and both times they have completely screwed up my order which was very disappointing. While I love those two dishes I’m hesitant to visit again and definitely very hesitant to order takeout.

The spring rolls tasted really fishy like salmon but I am pretty sure the ingredients didn’t say it had fish in it. The sushi was great but it does take a longgggg time for it to come out. Service realllllly sucked I just didn’t understand why they had one inattentive server working. Service always sucks at this location not sure about their noodle/phở location. This will probably be our last time dining here.

So I gave this place a second try tonight after I had their steak Bento box for lunch last week and it was horrible. let’s just say they’re struggling… There was four of us tonight and we probably waited 30 minutes for food. service was horrible and even one of their staff that was off, had to help them because they couldn’t handle the five tables that they were seated in the restaurant. There are definitely better Asian restaurants in the neighborhood.

Absolutely the BEST sushi in town! I’ve tried them all. The caribbean roll and the caterpillar roll are definitely a must try! Also the Mr. H, if you like raw fish. The service is great, atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable, and the food is amazing. The salmon and tuna sashimi at Taste are on point. I definitely recommend trying this place out to everyone! There’s not one thing I’ve had that didn’t exceed my expectations.

The sushi was good but I’d stay away from cooked items. I had a grilled steak bento box with rice and ginger salad. The steal was over cooked and charred to the point it made it taste of char with little bits and no flavor other than char. Basically the steak and rice made for a good carrier of the spicy mayo I asked for. My wife’s miso soup was like warm which was disappointing because it did have a food flavor. The sushi and sashimi we ordered was great however. Little over priced for what was delivered. Service was nice but slow and they were not busy at the time. Disappointing to say the least.

Did not taste like Saigon!!! However it sure did feel like Saigon! The air conditioning must have been broken because it was getting steamy in there. We got the phở and tempura shrimp/veg. The phở noodles were clumped together in a ball and the meat was tough. The tempura shrimp and veg dish had two shrimp! The tempura batter was very dense, not light and crispy. At least the service was great.

The Phở is very good. The service is a bit lack luster. It isn’t that their service staff provides bad service, it appears to be lack of training or experience. There is a bit of a funny smell upon entering the restaurant(like a wet rag that’s been sitting in a bucket for days), but nothing too offensive. Note to Management: Please bring back the Vietnamese coffee with the slow-drip method over condensed milk. The currently available coffee in a styrofoam cup is not cutting it.

I was excited to try Phở for the first time and left terribly disappointed. I’ve been trying new restraurants arpund Gainesville for the past few months and this is the only one where the reviews did not match what was received. The soup was definitely overcooked or was prepared hours ahead of time just sitting in a warmer the entire day. I left the restraurant with a burnt taste in my mouth. The seafood inside the soup was virtually flavorless as if the burnt soup was going to save meat that wasn’t spiced up a bit. Honestly would never consider going back.

Best sushi in Gainesville period. I love this place. I’ve had several of there entrée dishes and bowls but my go to is there sushi. My favorite is the Tampa and Buddha roll. The are always fresh and I love how the have fresh crispy asparagus in some rolls. They have a veggie large sushi roll so my husband can enjoy his spicy rolls and they also have lots of cooked and vegetarian roll options as well.

I’ve seriously eaten here 3 straight nights — and I don’t even enjoy eating out.(That’s what she said.) I just recently moved to the area and I haven’t hit up the grocery in a few so sushi seemed like a better option for me than some of my other neighborhood choices. I’ve gotten take out all 3 nights but I keep coming back so they must be doing something right. I’ve been here when they’ve been fairly busy and during an idle time and in both cases, the service was efficient and friendly. I’m a fan of the crispy tofu and the Godzilla roll. I tried the tofu pad thai last night and I probably won’t get it again. It was just ok. Open seating and lots of room at the bar. They do have a tv above the bar but it’s never turned on when I come.(That’s also what she said.) Which is totally fine because it’s located right over the pick up station so it could be distracting trying to actually watch something. Great location and lots of parking. Taste is quickly becoming my Gainesville Go To!

Had a great dinner at Taste recently. We shared the crispy duck dinner(perfect for two) and also the Godzilla Roll. The duck was excellent, tender and crispy, lots of veggies and flavorful sauce on rice. Service was good too!

One hour break for lunch and they messed up with our simple orders. Spent totally 1hour there but waited 35mins for food. FYI, only 3tables at that time.

Authentic Vietnamese cuisine that«tastes» great. Don’t be afraid to try one of the authentic Vietnamese noodle bowls, I recommend the beef. The broth is amazing and it its customary to slurp your noodles don’t worry. I came back again and tried the Japanese sushi and it was also very good. Overall this restaurant has a great menu and I can’t wait to go back again.

Good sushi! I got a sashimi bowl which was pretty similar to a Don from Bento Café and Sushi, just a little bit bigger. Nice location. I haven’t tried the PHO yet but it seems like its the star of the menu. I will update this as soon as I do try it.

The restaurant’s overall feeling is very nice, the wood color brings a lot of home-like eating experience. I went there almost every weekend. The noodle soup is the best in the town! I have tried few phở restaurants, but this place is definitely my favorite. The soup has very rich flavor and there are a variety of vege. My favorite soup noodle is #14 I think. I don’t remember the name of it, but it has a bunch if tomato, eggs, and onion in it. Super good! A must try! I love this place! But the only downside is that it is a little overpriced. But I still go because of the good flavoring.
