Great hole in the wall breakfast treasure. Serve breakfast all day. Excellent selection of muffins. Coffee and friendly service.

Real bad start for a local restaurant that you live near and would frequent regularly. Never was recognized not given menus sat for a while watched another table come in later and get service. No one even said hi, hello or was greeted by the waitress even though she gave food to a table next to us and took an order from the other table. We like to go to smaller places not chains, so this restaurant lost out big time To.

Wow! I went here with some sophisticated nurses from my clinic for lunch. What a surprise I had in store for me. The food is exquisite. The service was great, and the fun was real. I can only imagine what this place would be on a weekend morning. I haven’t tried that yet. But we went there with my son and his wife. The breakfast was superlative, one of the best I have had. The ambiance is nothing to brag about, but you are not going to a museum. Just a good place to eat. The marble rye bread made the«bakery» part of the name a superior aspect of this eatery. We all truly enjoyed this place and its staff. Do yourself a «flavor» and give it a try. Traveling through? Get off I-75 at Newberry Road exit 387 and go west about 3 traffic lights(less than a mile) turn into the K-Mart shopping center across the street near the Beal’s store next door to the Red Wing Shoe store.

The chicken salad on a croissant is amazing! It comes toasted. They’re always busy, but for great food I don’t mind waiting too long. The pistachio muffins are to die for. Get one to-go.

I’ve been here a couple times and have never been disappointed. The potatoes are always seasoned well as with the sausage. The eggs are ok but they are good enough to go along with the rest of the meal. What’s makes this place good are the pancakes and the muffins. The pancakes are big and fluffy and go great with the syrup they provide. The muffins though, are in a league of their own. These are the best muffins I’ve ever had. I’ve tried the cinnamon, blueberry, and orange juice muffin and all three were amazing. The hardest part is deciding which one I want when I go. If you go here you have to get a muffin and make sure you ask for it heated because it makes them that much better. To finish this off, I will say that the service is ok. It’s not great, but that’s probably because of how crazy they get sometimes. However, the severs are extremely nice and the food comes out pretty quick. If your looking for a Sunday morning breakfast I would recommend giving this place a try.

Love the mill! My first time I went for the giant muffins and came back for the delicious breakfast. The baked goods range from muffins, bagels, croissants, and even cronuts! My favorite thing to get for breakfast is the western omelet. It’s cooked perfectly! I love this place and it has become a main staple of my weekend. It’s great to support a local business that creates great food and is so reasonable on prices.

It’s pouring down rain here and I am concerned that it’s packed. Surprisingly, the restaurant is a little bigger on the inside than it looks from outside … not much, there is a mirror on the back wall that provides an illusion of space. Inside there is a table of college students, another table of home nurses, and a small table of older patrons … so it is an eclectic bunch. I have a simple sandwich, but it is good. Very good. The bread is homemade, and the meat is a decent quality. I decide to take a muffin home for an afternoon snack — good move. The muffin was excellent. So what can I say? It is a retro snack bar /bakery /sandwich shop such as you might see in an old Mike Hammer movie … and that is cool. I get tired of pressboard, assembly line, manufactured wood pulp that is foisted on the unsuspecting public as fast food. This is the real deal. Oh, yeah. Bring a smart phone, kindle, a deck of cards or even Monopoly because it is slow. But hey, that means it is custom made real food … and that takes time.

Pros: delicious fresh bread. Sandwiches made with fresh bread made in house. Cons: sandwiches are high priced for the particular sandwiches they are selling. Update: after going back to this place multiple times and having a more diverse tasting of the menu, I have to say they do have some really great stuff! Their man staple is their breakfast. Everything is made in house. Their most popular muffins are the«orange juice crumb muffin.» I also suggest getting the egg and cheese croissant. The person who makes during the week, not the weekend, cooks the scramble egg really thin and layers them with cheese in between which for some reason makes it taste even more AMAZING.

For those reading the reviews, the mill is a place to come and just eat. They are small and usually under staffed but the place is small and probably couldn’t handle more than two or three servers. If you look at the size of the kitchen it can’t produce the volume of food a larger place can; however, we love this place and have coming here for years. it is what it is. The food is good and basic. The muffins are great. You won’t get fancy and you won’t get fast, but you will get consistency. Come here for what it is and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Enjoy! We are!

I got a Greek salad that was not even close to fresh! How hard is it to keep fresh veggies in stock. My wife ordered the Park Sandwich and was disappointed that she could not have fresh avocado, they only had an avocado dressing made with sour cream.

The sandwiches my husband and I had were fantastic,(ruban and a club sandwich). The only reason I didn’t give them five stars was the coleslaw and potato salad are not very good. The coleslaw is too«watery» and there is an herb or spice in the potato salad that we didn’t like, not sure what it was. Other then that, the sandwiches were excellent.

Best breakfast in town. The food is served fast. The wait staff is attentive and friendly. It’s sometimes tough to get a table, but the deliciousness that awaits is worth the wait. The baked goods are the best around.

VERY Disappointing… Have heard and read good things about Bakery Mill&Deli. Decided to try it out for breakfast. I have never experienced a place with such poor pancakes and french toast. Perhaps we ordered foods that aren’t their specialty, I don’t know. However the service was slow, servers seemed very stretched and in the weeds, however friendly. The restaurant was not busy, and the food took exceptionally long. Then when it arrived, we were extremely disappointed. Food arrived piping hot, but very bland. Also, a weird comment. They do not carry butter. They have margarine, but at a breakfast restaurant, I prefer butter. Again, this may be a weird preference, but I was shocked to find out they don’t carry butter at all. We were planning to order some of their baked goods to take home with us, but after such bland food, we did not want to purchase anything else from this establishment. I would not return to the Bakery Mill & Deli, nor do I recommend to others.

I visited The Mill this past weekend with a party of six, in Gainesville for a Homecoming reunion. There are only two tables capable of seating six, and one was occupied by a single man sitting by himself, not yet ordered food. My friends and I were discussing whether to wait, leave, or maybe see if the man would mind if we joined him. As we did so, a server(I later learned his name is Don, I think) very rudely interjected to us as he walked by «He was next in line»(referring to why the man had the table). We weren’t even sure he was talking to us, it was so stern and unprompted. We continued our discussion, and Don came by again and said«He’s there. And he’s gonna be there until he’s done eating.» This man was so rude it put us off the whole restaurant. A few minutes later, he actually asked the man to move and sat us at the table(!) but grumbled about us to other employees and under his breath the whole time he did so. We had fond memories of The Mill from going to school in Gainesville, but this man almost caused us to leave without eating. Luckily, Ashley was our server, not Don. She redeemed The Mill and then some. She was sweet and attentive, and did a great job making sure we were happy campers. Give that girl a raise! We got a variety of muffins(orange juice, pumpkin, pistachio), which were all pretty good. We all ordered breakfast, and it was all a good value for the price. A word of warning: the hash browns were more like home fries, or just fried potato cubes. All in all, The Mill was a good breakfast, but I can’t give more than 3 stars due to the way Don spoke to us.

They have a really small shop out in Progress Park in Alachua(across from the new Santa Fe Perry Center) too. I’ve never been to the actual restaurant in Gainesville so I can’t comment on wait, service or the like. That said, they have the best Ruben sandwich I have had in town. The corned beef is super tender, served on the marble bread. A good portion of sauerkraut that isn’t overly bitter(usually when places don’t rinse it.) You get a choice of a side. Fruit or chips. I’d like to try the actual restaurant for brunch sometime.

I guess you can call this a mixed review. I’ve eaten here twice… and attempted to one other time — more on that ahead. The first time was for a weekday lunch, the second for a weekday breakfast. In both instances, the food and prices were pretty good and the service was fantastic. The third time, however, was for Sunday breakfast. We arrived at 9:30 and all the tables were understandably occupied. Of course, there are only 8 tables to begin with. So, strike 1: they should make more efficient use of their space. We walked in and no one greeted us. My wife walked in circles for a few moments before being informed by another patron that they don’t take names, you just have to stand in line to wait for a table. Strike 2: poor greeting and communication. The line formed directly in front of the drink station so every time someone needed a soda/tea/coffee refill, the line had to part to allow a waitress or patron through. Strike 3: bad overall planning. We left without eating. So, all that said, I would absolutely go back… Just never on the weekend.

The two times we have tried to eat here, they have been so packed that we waited for a while and then left. They are very unorganized when it comes to seating. They only have 8 tables in the whole place, and when you walk in you are asked to «wait in line» for your table instead of being put on a wait list and have them call your name. Then, the line is from the counter to out the front door. Standing in front of the wait station with the drink machines is crowded and uncomfortable. It would be nice to at least have a bench to sit on outside while you wait. I heard the food was good, but I’m so frustrated with the experience that I may not even go back.
