Have eaten here both times we were in the area and both times it was delicious! First visit we ate breakfast, delicious!!! Second time we had lunch and I had the fish tacos. They were perfect. If ever we were are in the area in the future we will definitely come back!

I bookmarked this place a long time ago and finally had the chance to visit. I’m glad I went! We had a nice dinner with friendly service in a quirky environment and I would definitely return. Had a Georgia Peach cocktail(delicious) and fish and chips. The fries were a bit soggy, but the fish was fresh and lightly fried — a really nice preparation. My husband had the chicken fajitas and loved them. Service was friendly. We were worried that the musician would be too loud(it is a big echoing space) but that wasn’t the case at all.

Cute café w/charm, comfort and kick-ass cuisine. Why have I never ventured to the Gainesville square before? Our server was dipped in Southern sweetness(with the right touch of hipster edge) & was attentive to our requests, but not in a nosy way — the perfect balance of «I’ll give you a moment» without jumping down our throats. I had the Square Omelet, and may I just say Ahhhmmmazing. With a restaurant name like«Avocados» you expect that ingredient to play a starring role in many of the dishes, and its inclusion in the monstrous omelet did not fail to impress my belly! The homefries on the side were also good, and my friend’s veggie fajitas were a nice varied mix of vegetables that weren’t swimming in oil.(She was a little disappointed that their menu was pretty skimpy on the vegetarian options, but the colorful quality(and quantity!) of items to cram into tortillas in her entrée made up for it.) The early evening sunshine made the sidewalk tables great for people watching. Living only 15 – 20 min. away, I still don’t know how I haven’t made it to this area of Gainesville before, but I’m glad that I did, and I look forward to venturing into all the restaurants around, that is, if I can get past the urge to have another square omelet again.

This restaurant has a great atmosphere, if feels like a coffee shop in a cool part of a big city but the food gets two thumbs down. It was shocking since the chef’s resume was impressive. The Chicken Tortilla soup had no flavor. Bland, boring, it was clearly made with water instead of broth. No onion, no garlic, no salt. I also got the Cuban Sandwich. The bread was stale. I will give this place one more try and get the salad that all the other reviewers rave about.

Great blue cheese burger and a quirky environment. Definitely recommend!

The food was great, but the fact that most of the waitresses had a staring problem but couldn’t keep our drinks full(didn’t get a single refill in the hour and a half we were there& there were only 3 other tables while we were there) made it a terrible experience. Maybe my boyfriend and I don’t fit the«rich older people» vibe that this restaurant is aiming for, because we were sitting near the other customers(who did fit that description) who were waited on hand and foot without so much as a glance in our direction. We definitely don’t plan on going back.

I liked this place but I’m not too sure if I liked it enough to give it a 5 star. The Sunday brunch is only buffet, and it’s a little expensive. I’m not a huge buffet fan but they had a good selection. The Mac and cheese was probably my favorite part and the asparagus even though some pieces were a little dry. So overall I just don’t get why it was so pricey. We got the buffet, orange juice and a blueberry pancake and that came down to $ 50. That’s a lot for a breakfast/brunch for two people. The waiter was a sweetheart which made it a good experience but because everything is so expensive we probably won’t come back.

Went for dinner. The ambiance is just like the other downtown restaurants – trendy bar. Café booths and bare brick walls. Fortunately there weren’t many people there or it would be very noisy. However I knew that going in. I’ve eaten in the same space through several different restaurants. My shrimp was fine. However my date’s filet mignon needed a saw to get through(medium was requested). Saw, saw, saw. Chew, chew, chew. You should be able to cut a filet with a spoon(true story). The waiter seemed like he was either new or had other things on his mind. We thought dessert would make up for it, but it didn’t. It was pitiful. And we ended up spending $ 80 for the pleasure. I gave the second star for the Moscow Mule which was the highlight of the evening. I would not go back for dinner.

Was here for lunch. Pretty busy, but not crazy. Ordered the fish tacos, food came out pretty fast, didn’t have to wait long. The tacos had good flavor and was cooked perfectly. Waiter was courteous and attentive. Co worker ordered ½ sandwich and soup combo. She said it was very good. Awesome place to have lunch. I definitely will be back

The service is excellent, casual laid back atmosphere. The food exceeded my expectations and I’m a declared food snob. Visiting from TN can’t wait to come back.

It was probably just what I ordered and I was there for a lunch meeting so I didn’t have time to complain to the server. However, I ordered the fish tacos and cannot recommend them. Very disappointed. The fish was salty and in flour tortillas by itself(? Cheese too, can’t remember) with a side of lettuce topped by very spicy salsa or a side of salsa verde. Just very basic and flavorless except salt, of course. I have become accustomed to fish tacos at some of the other restaurants on the Square and they were not the same. Oh well, next time I will try something different.

We needed a quick lunch between soccer games. They accommodated us, brought the food quickly, got us our check quickly, the atmosphere and food were great. Lovely location right on the Square. Their tortilla soup was perfect on a cold day. This was a Saturday lunch/brunch menu. The dinner menu looked interesting as well.

You need to get there early, it gets packed fast. My husband got the Mexican tuna and I git the meatloaf sandwich, they were both to die for! Let’s just say we will be returning here.

Excellent selection of food, decently priced and great mimosas. When we first arrived, we were quickly greeted by the manager after we sat down, and he was able to answer questions about the area for us — since we were only passing through. Overall, good selection, great place for brunch, and worth hopping off the highway for if you’re passing through and need a good bite.

I’ve never had fried oysters before, but I’m definitely a fan. They were served with spinach and cream sauce. The batter was crunchy but not too heavy. I had salmon, brazed greens, and mac n cheese for dinner. The salmon was cooked perfectly, but a bit sour with a lot of lemon, still refreshing though. The«brazed greens» were lettuce and spinach browned with salt and pepper, not terrible but I was expecting collard greens, could have used a bit more flavor like garlic or hot sauce even. The mac n cheese was definitely 5 star worthy, baked in an individual ceramic cup. It had onion in it which was a nice surprice, very creamy would definitely recommend. They serve fresh fried tortilla chips made from real tortillas, only thing I would comment would be to add less salt as I don’t eat salt, but they were amazing. The staff and ambiance is very peaceful. Easy parking. A little on the pricy side though. $ 18.75 for a small dinner plate.

A restaurant named after one of my favorite foods?! I love it. I also love a restaurant that has gluten-free options! I usually get the Artisan Salad when I go for lunch and it’s delightful. The greens are always very fresh, the chicken is cooked to perfection(you can tell it’s never frozen), and the house dressing is light, yet flavorful. Not to mention the healthy serving of at least half an avocado they toss on top. They also offer gluten free bread instead of the normal bread that comes with it. Easily one of the best salads I’ve found in Gainesville, but the rest of the menu is great, too! Their fries are just perfect! I’m often here for lunch and the crowd is mostly business lunchers, and the atmosphere is calm with music playing in the background. I do however, love dinner here! They have live music most nights and the place fills up and is very lively. It’s a great local spot with great food!

Yum yum yum. My sister suggested to come here for lunch while we were visiting Gainsville. I loved the fact we could eat outside. It was a great day just to eat and talk. We each had a delicious sandwich but my highlight were the hand it fries. Omg. Amazing! Seriously outstanding.

Okay, I may be biased because any place that offers gluten free bread makes me do a happy dance, but I loved it here! The atmosphere reminded me a a coffee shop, laid back, colorful walls and artwork. I didn’t get into any in depth conversation with the staff, but they seemed friendly and efficient. Timing was perfect, nothing took too long, everyone was pleasant. Now the food. I LOVED the food! I ordered the apple and Brie sandwich on gf bread, and substituted the fries for an artisan salad. Normally when you get a side salad for lunch it’s a dinky thing with just lettuce, maybe a cucumber or a tomato. Two if you’re lucky. This side salad actually came with a half an avocado, feta cheese, and the dressing was perfect! My sandwich was delicious, the melted Brie complimented the apple slices, and the gf bread was grilled perfectly. I can’t wait to come back here again! It’s also a great spot, right in the heart of downtown Gainesville.

Had the fried lobster tail with steak and mashed potatoes and a vegetable. The lobster tail greasy, the mashed potatoes tasted reheated with too much butter flavor. And the steak, oh my goodness, I truly believe they cut these pieces off of steak that was left on patrons plates that didn’t finish their meal. The beef truly tasted bad and reheated. Oh well, not going back because this is the 2nd time I have been disappointed in the food.
