Our mother has been here for a few years now. Suffering early dementia then breaking her hip and never recovering from it. The dementia has progressed. We have grown to care about the staff and other residents here over the time. The staff is always responsive and kind. They have an open door policy 24 hrs a day. .meaning you can just come anytime to visit without calling… and I have. The gardens are always beautiful and well kept. This is a smaller facility only 26 beds I believe. After checking out larger ones my sister and I decided this was best for mom and us. It is a homey place not hospital like at all. They could use a larger dining room but they always make it comfortable I myself have eaten with my mom there and the residents capable of interacting do so around the table. They move with your loved one here all the way through even hospice care. It is a sweet little neighborhood and across from a nice park. Once a month they have a wonderful family day with lunch and some entertainment to celebrate a holiday with your loved one. Every time I have come over the last years every patient is up. bathed and dressed for the day. Even those who are now slipping further away are still in the group room for music or movie time. Most of the residents are Alzheimers and or dementia and thier job is not easy… but I have been here enough to see how they are trained to redirect any outbursts which can happen with dementia. They have been nothing but kind and patient to my mom with her dementia even when I have not been. I have personally witnessed the tears from staff when a resident passed on. it is tough for them too i am sure when my mom leaves this world I will always be grateful for them

Pros: They only have 25 patients staying there and there are caregivers awake and on staff 24 hours a day. If there are any changes to the patient, they will know because the home is so small. Cons: For those who are not completely able bodied, the cottages have ramps to enter them and I don’t think the shared rooms have enough space for machines to aid in mobility assistance. For the price, I think you can find a larger place but if this is a location convenient for you, it does not hurt to give them a look see. Misc: Richman staff cannot take patients to doctor’s appointments since they only have 1 van and selective availibility. Comes furnished with the basics; bed, dresser, nightstand and lamp. Check them out if this is your cup of tea. Not mine, but might be yours.
