Pacific Drive Elementary School

Absolutely love pacific drive. I went here from 1983 – 1988. Mrs. Schalliol was my teacher from 4 – 6 grade. It was her first year and first class she had. Thanks for being a cool teacher.

I’m giving them 3 stars so far… my daughter will start kindergarten there but when I called asking if they have a kindergarten placement test the lady who answered had no idea! Almost all schools have a placement test to see where your child should be academically because some children don’t even know their alphabet! I was very disappointed that this was not happening at that school… I might just transfer her to golden hill next year.

My brother and sister went here before we transferred them to Golden Hill Elementary up the street from this school. They spent their Kindergarten and 1^st grade years here. The school itself is decent, but the area around it is a bit dingy. Mrs. Skaggs was a strong 1^st grade teacher for my brother, but Ms. Wu was a bit too lax when it came to teaching her kids. My little sister has a lot of problems with math (and still does) now that she is in 2^nd grade. The school’s grounds are kept clean, but the fact that they do not enforce their policy of «no street vendors» is ghetto. Countless times picking up my brother and sister from school I would see Hispanic street vendors just sitting on the corner outside of the school trying to pander to people to get them to buy corn or ice cream or something. The most infuriating thing about it, was despite the principal’s pleading for parents to NOT buy from the street vendors, they still did. Goldenhill Elementary is 5x better. If you have a choice, enroll there.
