Orange County Emergency Pet Clinic

To those who think this place isn’t cheap. you’re right! They do tell you up front it’ll cost you, but remember its an Emergency Vet not your local vet. They have to diagnose what’s wrong with your pet without any history or knowledge of your pet.
I had to put down my 20 year old cat, Clyde on Friday. I came home at 9:00 pm, and found him in a comatose state, half hanging on the coach, barely breathing, eyes barely open. I could have waited until 8 am the next day to see my regular vet to put him down, but how can I justify cost and let my cat suffer for 11 hours?
Nobody wants to come here, but it’s good that they offer their after hour services when we have no access to our normal vet.
Before complaining about shelling out $ 300 just for an office visit, you need to decide
1) if you should wait 12 hours to see your regular vet, save money,
or
2) allow your pet to suffer in pain or agony for 8 – 12 hours.
It’s your decision to come to the Emergency Vet, and I am very happy that we have this option at night.

This place is just concerned about the money !!! my poodle was dying. My sisters, mother and I crying waiting on her. Right when u walk in they ask to pay right up front ! They say range to pay to just see her would be $ 300 – 500 seriously? Just to be seen! Then they hit you with it will be $ 500! The nurse kept coming in and out saying our dog needed this and that and that how were we going to pay ??? Asking for the money right there and then! While we are all crying worried if she was going to make it or not!!! Then finally the doctor comes in after we have been paying all this money and tells us she isn’t going to make it!!! That it would be best to just put her down. Then nurse comes back in and hits us with another price and they won’t do anything until you pay!!! Would not recommend this place at all! So sad how money comes first to them.

I had some unexpected trouble with my grandma’s dog Bleu. He ended up somehow hurting his paw and was bleeding pretty bad. I called this place and the woman named Eva gave me some advice on what to do and if the bleeding didn’t stop to just head over. An hr had passed and it didn’t stop bleeding so my boyfriend and I head over to the clinic. We didn’t wait very long till Bleu was seen. I was expecting the worse when Dr. Beshai called us in. He notified us that it was just something minor and Bleu was going to be okay.
I love this place! The staff and Dr. Beshai were very nice and gentle with Bleu. If you ever need to go to an Emergency Clinic you should go here.

My Maggie was feeling ill on Tuesday night. Tried going to her Dr.‘s referred ER Vet in Yorba Linda, but was referred here by that vet since they had too many emergencies. As soon as we walked in, Maggie was seen. To be honest, I was a bit weary about this ER Vet because of it’s reviews, but I have to say they did a wonderful job with Maggie. The Dr. was very attentive and concerned about her, and gave me great advice in pursuing extra care with her regular vet. I highly recommend Orange County Emergency Pet Clinic.

I thought the people here were very caring and knowledgeable. They took good care of my sick dog. They explained to me what was going on and what they would do. I would go there again if I needed to.

This is the worst animal hospital I’ve ever been to. Mariana at the front is full of attitude. We were there for an hour for my puppy’s eye infection and I asked politely 3 times how long this visit will take but was completely ignored. When she finally responded to me, all I got was attitude about how I’m not the only one who is here. Don’t waste your money or time with this place.

My dog had a series of seizures and my husband and I had to take him to OC Emergency Pet Clinic at 8:30pm on Sunday night. While it was very sad what my dog was experiencing, the clinic was fantastic. They saw him fairly quickly. The assistant treated him gently and lovingly and she also asked me pertinent questions in an efficient manner. Dr. Beshai told us the situation in a direct, clear way. The facility was clean with a vending machine and coffee which was great because we were starving and tired. There was also outside table and chairs which we utilized for fresh air once they took our dog to the back. It cost us about $ 600.00 to have Traves treated and cared for overnight, but I’m sure it’s that expensive at most animal emergency clinics. Overall, I am very pleased with my experience there.

My 7 year old calico began exhibiting the classic «crouching to defecate» with no results, early this past Sunday morning. (Why do my cats always wait for the weekend to «break»?)
I called ahead and was given the green light to bring her in right away.
After ringing the little bell at the counter, Sara was checked in by the receptionist, but the lone vet at the site was in the middle of a surgery, so there was a 90 minute wait before my cat could be examined. Disappointing, but not worthy of complaint, since they are, after all, set up for «right-​now» emergencies.
Just FYI, if you’re going to be in the waiting room for any length of time, wear warm clothing! I noticed that unlike me, other waiting «parents» were all bundled up in blankets, jackets and sweat shirts, due to the icy A/​C conditions.
In due course, Sara was examined by Dr. Beshai and we had a consultation about his findings. I had brought detailed notes about her previous attacks of this kind, and he went over them with me. We agreed on an X-​ray to reveal her blockage and when it was ready, he carefully went over it with me. He answered all my questions, taking the time to explain the workings of the feline digestive system. As it turned out, Sara resolved the blockage problem right there on the X-​ray table, so it was only left to give her some subcutaneous fluids and release her.
As to cost, I was pleasantly surprised. The amount charged for the initial exam was exactly the same I had been charged the previous morning at Sara’s regular vet, when she was seen for an unrelated problem. And because the other vet had already done blood and urine tests, Dr. Beshai determined that they didn’t need repeating. I ended up paying about half what I had expected for an emergency visit.
The clinic faxed the results of Sara’s visit to her regular vet, and I walked out with a CD of her X-​ray images. While I wouldn’t characterize any vet visit as «pleasant», the Pet Clinic staff was friendly and competent. The waiting room and exam room I attended were both very clean.
I would not hesitate to return for another emergency.

I took my 17 year old German Shepard mix to put her to sleep after crying in pain. It was very difficult for me. This being my first dog I was new to this procedure. The attendant on the phone was polite and empathetic. The veterinarian who put in the shot was polite, professional, and empathetic as well. I wanted to donate the body to the veterinary school in Pomona and they were willing to work with me. Overall it was good service for such a difficult event.

Unfortunately had to bring my 8 week puppy in Sunday night with urination issues. A very stressful situation was at least made a little better with great and knowledgable staff. Very friendly and i didn’t feel as if there was a lot of unnecessary tests done. They were efficient and quick and I was happy with front desk gals as well as the doctor. Of course it was expensive but this is an overnight emergency vet so I kind of expected that. I feel at ease knowing they are close by in case I have another emergency!

I was a nervous wreck when I came here with my 3 mo old puppy Arrow. He had fallen off the bed and I was positive he broke his little leg. I would’ve paid all the money I had and they could’ve scammed me for every pretty penny but Dr Bashai provided a courtesy examination, did not order any unnecessary tests, and didn’t charge me a dime. Genuinely great ppl here who do their job professionally with passion. Will definitely come back if needed. Thank you Dr. Bashai. You are a wonderful person!!!

We came here at 7:30pm on a Saturday night because our miniature dachshund swallowed a Haas avocado put. Our vet was closed, so we Googled the nearest open clinic and this was the only one open.
When we arrived, there were about 5 other groups of people waiting already, and 4 more pets came during the 40 min we waited there. The staff were all courteous and professional, despite being pressed for time. The waiting room had a vending machine, water fountain with a water bottle filling station, Keurig machine, free wifi and two televisions.
The technicians induced vomiting immediately with no results. Then they took an X-​ray but when we found out there would be a two hour wait for the one doctor on duty to evaluate the X-​ray and perform an exam, we left our number and were able to go home to wait. We ended up returning 3 hours later and talked through options with the doctor, who was very caring and thorough in her evaluation. She had tried inducing vomiting a second time during the 3 hour wait, with no results. We ended up inducing vomiting a third time but after feeding him, and it worked! The whole staff cheered so loudly, we could hear it from the waiting room!
They charged us for X-​rays, exam, and only once for the vomit inducing drugs, even though they tried three times. They didn’t charge us for the dog food, and they burned all of the 6 digital X-​rays onto a CD for us to take to our vet.
We had to wait a long time, but we’re happy that we avoided surgery, and the staff really did their best on a day that was really busy for them. We will definitely keep their number, though we hopefully will never need to visit them again!

We brought two of our dogs here last night. They were both very ill. The doctor and staff was very friendly and reassuring. The facility is very clean and well kept. They did everything for our dogs to make them feel better and they did. We got to bring our dogs home the next day and they looked great compared to the day before. It was EXPENSIVE!!! I feel like their prices are extremely high, but when it comes to a pet who is a loved one. It is worth it. Thanks for your help.

Dr. Yamate was amazing in helping my Maltese female dog named Amelia. Unfortunately she was having a reaction to the vaccinations that she had earlier and since my normal Vet was closed I came here. It was a long wait until I could take her home since they prioritize examining dogs to talking to customers. It was worth the wait and Dr. Yamate was very generous and friendly.

I have to give this place and Dr Bashai 5 stars. I had to be referred by my vet this past Friday when my dog swallowed a bone which became stuck in his esophagus and needed immediate surgery. Dr Bashai explained everything in detail and they took great care of our pup… They even called after surgery to give us an update. And yes the bill was quite expensive about $ 2000.00 we paid but being an animal owner we are aware of expenses that can come up and it’s worth it to have our puppy saved and healthy! I would definitely recommend Orange County Er for animals! They were clean, professional and caring!!!

I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and quality of service my cat & I received at Orange County Emergency Pet Clinic.
Are they expensive? Yes, very… so be warned. It’s an emergency clinic, to expect otherwise makes no sense.
My cat spiked a very high fever at 12am one night. My options were to see if she would make it until the morning when my normal vet was open, or suck it up and get her the care she needed right away.
I’m glad I opted to bring her in when I did, because she would, in fact, NOT have made it to the morning.
When I walked in the door, the receptionist confirmed my identity and took my cat back to an exam area immediately. She then came back to me and had me start filling out the necessary paperwork. To me, this shows that the pet is the priority which is why I was there in the first place. Moments after completing the paperwork, I was in an exam room speaking with the primary vet on duty. He was courteous, clear and willing to answer my questions.
Am I thrilled that I had to spend $ 600 for one night at the clinic for IV fluids and antibiotics? Of course not. Am I thrilled that my cat is alive and well? Yes, beyond thrilled. Taking her here was worth every penny.

I do not enjoy leaving bad reviews, I much rather endorse a GREAT Business than speak negatively, but this experience was over and beyond horrible!
Started out over a week ago, our Great Dane suddenly started making strange coughing noises it came on quickly and progressed very quickly. We feared he had swallowed something and perhaps it was stuck in his throat. It was Sunday night, so our regular Vet wasn’t opened. I found Orange County Pet Hospital on Unilocal and we headed there. He was diagnosed with Kennel cough, given a shot of antibiotics and antihistamine, and we were told to take him to his regular vet the next day. We did as we were told. Our vet confirmed Kennel Cough and Brody was given a 5-​day course of antibiotics.
Forwarding to the next weekend, all the antibiotics were finished. Sunday he had a green runny nose, and the coughing seemed to be getting worse. To be on the safe side, went back to Orange County pet Emergency. They took X-​rays. The doctor proceeded to to tell us he had pneumonia, dehydrated, and needed to be hospitalized for 3 – 4 days. They gave him a shot of penicillin and wanted to hydrate him. Luckily my boyfriend has a good «gut feeling» about things. Brody had been drinking normally and even eating. He had almost regular energy too. He brought Brody home (even though he was warned not to by the doctor) and we were going to take him to Regular Vet again the following day. He just had a bad feeling with the lady doctor and the receptionist.
I trust his gut feeling usually, he has a great track record. Brody’s regular vet said he DID NOT NEED TO BE HOSPITALIZED BY ANY MEANS (would have been $ 1700 a day)!! HE WAS NOT DEHYDRATED AND he said PENICILLIN WAS NOT WHAT HE NEEDED, he was even going to cal OC PET EMERGENCY and question what they did and why they recommended things he didn’t need.
Needless to say, I need to find a reliable Pet Hospital! If I had been the one that took him, I would have admitted him and we would have spent thousands of dollars that was not necessary.
Shame on ORANGE COUNTY PET EMERGENCY for playing on people’s emotions with there pets and Thank You Rich for being sooo smart!!!

If your dog needs emergency care now, I would say go here but prepare to pay a load of money. If it’s not an emergency and it’s a Sunday, wait until Monday morning. And there’s an emergency care in hacienda heights as well.
Front desk staffs were okay. Dr. Bashai was nice enough to explain to me in detail of what I should do. But I got no information of what was going on with my dog. Estimate was $ 59 for the exam and when I went to go pay, it became $ 68. So I was pretty confused about that and the receptionist didn’t seem like she had the knowledge. The estimate of all the tests were $ 443 and I decided to find a local clinic instead since it wasn’t an emergency.
Overall, decent care but you can’t be with your pet while they’re getting the exam so I felt nervous.

If you can find another 24 hour emergency go there instead.
Marina yamata (the female Asian Doctor) is the worst. She is rude, insensitive, and the complete opposite of helpful.
This is an emergency and people come in worried and concerned for their pets, our pets are our best friends. So when you work in a place like this as a veterinarian aren’t you supposed to be helpful and informative? Worst vet I have ever come across. Seems like she is a smart ass and doesn’t even want to take the time to inform or explain anything and when you ask questions she gets defensive. Wish I would have never brought my dog here. Never going back again, i will find another emergency hospital.

Such a great place, the staff were very kind and understanding and if it wasn’t for them I would have lost my beardie.
Excellent service and they explain everything that could be wrong with your pet very clearly.
Definitely would recommend this place to people who have a pet emergency!
