So I came here to check it out. I had wanting to come here. It looks like a nice place. I always see people going in. Usually big parties. Like families or groups. I pass it everyday. Ok I live down the road from here. So finally came here after selling it as j drove home and drove to work. The place is smaller than I thought it would be. It has a bar right next to the tables. This place is packed. It must be good. I stake out the bar and notice no one is leaving. I have to choose to sit at a table. Not a fan of that especially if I’m by myself. The other times I have been here I have been lucky to have someone getting up as I came in. The food is hot. I have the burn mark on my hand from grabbing the fajita skillet to move it closer. I have done that before at other places. And been ok. This one didn’t take me more than ½ a second for me to react that it was very hot. Like always I ordered my fajitas without onions. Just not a fan. Don’t judge. I don’t judge you. They tasted great. The tortias were ok. I love it when they homemade. Or made onsite. You can’t beat that. But not here. My food was plentiful and delicious. I saw other people enjoying theirs also. Now they have 2 big Margaritas. They are 46 oz. they limit you to 2. I guess a third might land you on the floor. I had one. And it was plenty for me to start and finish my meal. I thought of having the limit since I was only a walking distance from the house. But I decided not to on these occasions. Maybe next time. They have a happy hour till 6 but I didn’t see any of there monster margaritas on the list. But if I recall correctly they have 16oz margaritas for 4 dollars. Not bad. That’s what caught my eye. One of the times I have been here they have had a band play. The Fay Brothers. They play a lot of different music none of which is in Spanish. But they play great from Clapton to recent numbers on the radio. Mainly 80s 90s 2000−10s. So a lot.

Came in for dinner with my mom at around 6:30 Thursday and was seated immediately. My veggie fajitas were sizzling hot and delicious! By the time I was full, it barely looked like I made a dent so you really get your money’s worth for such large portions. From the hostess who seated us, the kind man who brought us fresh chips and salsa, to our waitress, the service was excellent!

Pretty typical Mexican food chain, as far as the food goes. I’m a fan of Mexican food, so think most restaurants do a decent job. If you’d like an early night out of live music and appetizers, call to find out when«Remember Then» will be playing in their large bar area until 9pm. Great music, nice people and a comfortable, casual atmosphere.

For a sit down Mexican restaurant, the place is decent. We were visiting family and only went to this restaurant because there didn’t seem to be any sit down Mexican restaurants any better in the area. The Mexican Pizza I had, on Wednesday 4÷27÷16, wasn’t crisp like I was expecting. It also didn’t look very appetizing and the portion was smaller than that entrée at other restaurants. The salsa was mediocre. The Blue Agave Margarita was just as good as I’d hoped. The service was good until the end when the waiter and staff cleared our table then made us wait 15+ minutes until our small group got our check. They normally aren’t that slow. We’ll likely return the next time we visit family in this area, again.

I hadn’t been to this location, for several years. Big mistake. My boyfriend and I had a double date, with his son and his son’s fiancé. The front hostess desk had 3 ladies staffing it and we were greeted warmly upon arriving. The live music was a tad too loud for our liking, in the bar area, so we chose the restaurant seating. We’ll definitely consider it for another time/occasion. We were sat by, and waited on, by Daniella. She was such a special addition to our evening. Her politeness, personality, humor, and attention to detail were on point. I would go as far as to even request her again, if dining there! Our food was great. The salsa was just right, as far as not too spicy, and not just tomatoes mashed up. The chips were decent. I ordered the grilled fish tacos, rice and beans, with a side of sour cream and was stuffed but highly satisfied with the taste. My boyfriend opted for the 2-item combo, with a taco and chili relleno. The latter was so cheesy and delicious. I’ll either order that dish next time, or opt for the fajitas that smelled divine. Kudos, Don Jose’s. I’ll be back for more Mexican food, real soon. Seat me in Daniella’s section, please!

I don’t know why there are so many bad reviews! I’ve been coming to Don Jose’s since I was a kid. I was wary of coming to this location did you the reviews but dang it I had my coupon and I was craving their chips! Food was great and just as good as the various other locations I’ve been to. Service was fast and very, very friendly. The interior is very nicely lit with a lot of natural lighting — definitely more lit than some other locations!

We’ve been coming to this Don Jose’s for probably 15 – 20 years and it’s never been the absolute best Mexican food but not quite the worst either. It was our go-to place when we didn’t want a long wait and just wanted some basic refried beans with melted cheese and crispy tacos. That said, the food was SO bad tonight. Even my 7 year old granddaughter said her chicken strips were«probably the worst I’ve ever had» Seriously? How do you mess up chicken strips so bad a kid doesn’t want to eat them? She was also not happy that her rice was cold, as well as her beans, which had cold, unmelted cheese sprinkled on the top. My husband’s carne asada looked like it had been previously frozen and was cooked beyond the well done stage inside. He said his entire meal was awful and he had just eaten his last meal here. My fajita burrito was decent but something was little off about the taste. I couldn’t tell if it was the sauce or the veggies, but I ended up eating half and couldn’t finish. Our server was just fine, so none of this reflected on him at all. He was quick and came back with refills, etc. But due to the food quality, we won’t be back anytime soon.

Absolutely disgusting, but great service. I feel bad for the waitresses that work here. They deserve to work at a better place. Inside, the interior is decrepit. In the hanging lights, at least one light was out per hanging light. The cushions of the seats were ripped, the tables were old. It looked like something out of a late 90s nightmare. The clientele was all over 60. This was the first red flag. The food came out like less than 10 minutes after ordered. The first time I accidentally ordered the ultimate burrito. Had three meats. It was absolutely disgusting. The sauce looked like it had been congealed and sitting on the burrito for at least an hour. I sent it back and ordered the chicken burrito. It came out almost faster than the first time. As I dug into my food… It tasted like the cook microwaved a chicken breast and then stuck it in a burrito. N-A-S-T-Y. The guacamole was a weird dark green. UGH! The waitress was so wonderful. I feel horrible for her for having to work for such a horrible, disgusting, decrepit place.

It was okay — the food was a bit bland and the service was really slow. They have a good variety of Mexican beers and the menu is pretty expansive. I also thought it was pretty highly priced for the quality of the food and service. I wouldn’t go back, but it wasn’t awful.

I’ve been going to this same DJ for about 40 years and I’ve always ordered the Tequitos Especial. It sucks that this DJ doesn’t have happy hour but they serve Pepsi and I’m fine with that! Service is always quick and attentive!

Don Jose reminds me of Acapulco. The whole bar set up and atmosphere is almost identical except, Don Jose’s service is great! The Chips & Salsa is on a whole ‘nother level. When you try it, you’ll understand what I mean. Cheese enchiladas: Boyfriend claimed it to Delicious, I took a bite and their sauce was pretty good. Not really something I personally would order. Asada Buritto: Although a bit small(maybe its because I asked for no beans), I was able to eat it all. I love all even though on the menu it doesnt state that it would be a wet burrito(which I love), youre getting the wet burrito for the price of a reg burrito. I requested for the green sauce and it complemented the burrito really well. The waiters are more than attentive and friendly. Great place to hang out for the game and HH.

We’ve been to this Don Jose on several occasions and each time I’ve been mildly disappointed. The food is OK, but priced high for the food you get. Average prices for a combination is around $ 15 and the majority of the plate is filled with Rice and Beans. The service could use some improvement. We were taken to our table quickly with no waiting. A waiter got our drinks in record time but never came back to ask if we wanted a refill, nor were we asked how our meals were. Upon finishing our meals we sat there for several minutes and finally had to ask for«take home» tray. Having experienced this level of service at each of visits, along with the high prices, I think it will be some time before we return.

First off the staff is so nice. Not two minutes after we sat down we got our chips and salsa.(amazing by the way) . Then our drinks can out so quickly. And less than 10 minutes later our food was out. Diana was our server. she is so sweet. She needs a raise! Pomegranate Margarita… yummm

I love Don Joses! I have only been to this location once, but it was awesome. I went on a weekend, I believe a Saturday — and it was not very crowded. The service was good, and everyone was very friendly! The hostess, the waitress, the bus boy… everyone was very nice and helpful. If I am back in the area again I will for sure return! Also, they have a «spicier» salsa if you ask :)

Yuck. I’ll start with the food … Heavy and bland. Like pig slop on plates. What’s worse are the prices! The prices were in line with El Torito. We almost left before ordering … When did Don Jose get to be $ 15+ a plate? We stuck it out only to be disappointed by the food. The restaurant is also VERY outdated and possibly dirty.(Hard to tell — it’s so dark in there). The service was good … Only redeeming part of the night!

I’m not an expert on Mexican food but I like what I’ve had here and the wait staff has almost always been friendly and attentive with just a few exceptions when they were extra busy. My favorites besides the fresh chips and salsa are the veggie burrito, taco salad, the two chile rellano combo or one chile rellano with cheese enchilada combo, the shrimp tacos, and the meals keep me feeling full for many hours. I just recently decided to stop ordering with my eyes and order smaller meals or take the leftovers to go and only eat until I’m comfortably full. Good to have those BOGO coupons.

Ambiance: Fast casual Mexican diner. It doesn’t look much from the outside and inside is no better. Been here couple of times and each time the table was a bit sticky. 0⁄1 star Service: Friendly and polite. The servers are constantly checking if you need anything. 1⁄1 star Food: Complimentary Chips and Salsa Fresca — Tortilla chips are thinner kind that I like and although I prefer roasted tomato Salsa, the Salsa Fresca here is flavorful and super fresh. Seafood Enchilada — BF’s go to dish. In fact, the only time we come here is so he can have the seafood enchilada. Sautéed shrimp and fish are wrapped in tortilla and topped with cheese and tomatillo sauce. It’s a simple dish but quite tasty. Stuffed Pasilla Chile Relleno — Had this the last time I was at the restaurant and I’ve decided that this will be my go to dish from now on. Roasted pasilla pepper is very generously stuffed with braised beef, beef chorizo, potatoes, queso fresco, and cilantro cream sauce. Both dishes came with rice and beans, his was refried, mine was black beans. Not a fan of rice and beans here. 1.5 /2 stars Cost Performance: Less than $ 30 including tax and tip for dinner for 2. 1⁄1 star

(Really a 2.5) The service is good and they are nice… the restaurant needs a remodel not because its dirty or falling a part, because everything is well kept, it just looks outdated. The pseudo Mexican food is okay, nothing special or unique about it. If you’re hungry and there’s a deal, why not take the offer! It is decent food, though I feel most of it is lacking saltiness, including the salsa. The shrimp fajitas are the best thing on the menu though. That is always fresh and decently tasty. They have a good lunch special until 4 pm that is under $ 10($ 7 – 8), where you can get the fajitas at a smaller plate(which is still pretty big).
