In my search for a cheap tanning salon, I came across Planet Beach’s website. They offered«3 free contempo spa sessions», and hey, I’m all about freebies. After looking up what the whole«contempo spa» part meant, it showed automated spa services like facials and aqua massages. Apparently they mostly have package deals instead of paying for a la carte services, but I was at least going to try my free sessions. So when I actually went, I was a bit disappointed. Turns out the 3 free sessions only pertained to tanning, even though I read reviews on other Planet Beach locations where you could try any of the services for free. The girl at the front desk didn’t even bother showing me or telling me about any of the other services. Meanwhile, while I had to fill out paperwork, two other male customers were wondering aloud which tanning booth would give them the fastest results, since they had photo shoots the next day. These guys already looked dark enough to the point where they will inevitably get skin cancer before they turn 40. I don’t know if that’s the usual clientele, but I felt quite out of place. As for tanning there, it was okay. Newish-looking bed, had a regular radio inside, and the girl at the front desk gave me a sample bronzer lotion to try. But I never bothered going back for my 2 remaining free sessions(you have only a week to use them all).
