The only reason I give a 1 star is if the business could have done no worse. I suppose they could have done worse, but not by much honestly. Was just next door doing the iFly deal, super pumped after that and NEEDED a beer. We headed to this tap house. Mostly an empty place at 8pm on a Tuesday. One unhappy table(obviously so) of grown adults waiting for the manager. We sat at the bar. Unfortunately, we were either ignored or there wasn’t anyone at the bar tending it. We never got served without waiting, waiting, and then having to specifically stop them and say«we want…» For a modern«tap house,» they have relatively few tap beers. Only just a few over 20. When you consider many of those are«sex in a canoe» American tap beers, it doesn’t leave much to the imagination. If you don’t understand the canoe reference, message me and I’ll share privately. We had to ask to get served food. They only brought out part of it. Had to ask for the side dish and wait wait wait. For a place that wasn’t busy, they didn’t seem to have time for us. We both ordered the grilled salmon. It was good. Came with a small helping of beans. For $ 17, you get a small filet of fish, about a tablespoon or so of white beans(navy maybe?), and NOTHING. No vegetables, no side salad, no bread, nothing. I told them I was hungry after I ate it, that it was not substantial at all considering the price and that I was disappointed. They just stood there, said«I’m sorry,» and then moved on. Honestly, the two people working there did not look happy. I’m thinking one of them was the manager. The service was lousy or nonexistent, food overpriced, menu serving not well thought out(who serves a nice fish entrée with just a small helping of beans + nothing?), and not many tap beer choices. Not recommended. Not at all.

The food was absolutely wonderful. The Cod Sandwich was perfect and the taphouse burger is a classic. The fries were indescribably good. Chadd was great with a good sence of humor and awesome service. We are definately comming back soon.

We went for brunch, and have to say the food was not so great. The deep fried bacon was pork belly but not cooked enough to render the fat off. I had eggs over easy that were very under cooked, and my husband had the quiche and was not impressed. The mimosas were good for the price, but the service was not that great. They were not friendly at all! Actually when we tried to make conversation, they were rude. We probably won’t be back. We will go back to our regular places where they are friendly. We always like to try new places, but this one is a miss!

I was very happy to discover this place a couple months back, and stoked at their beer selection. However, on my last visit they had cut their tap line up in half, with only a few craft beers — all the others were the usual sports bar beers. Still a cool spot, but they are not a craft beer place anymore. UPDATE: The new owner reaches out to me as a result of this post and invited me back. I went back, say at the bar and ordered a flight… of CRAFTBEER! Yes, their beer selection has greatly improved with the new owners. Staff was engaging and fun, and there was actually someone at the hostess stand to greet us as we entered. Well done… keep up the great work. I’ll see y’all soon!

Wow what a difference. I heard they were under new management and went to check it out The Good: food, service, drinks, The food. New menu. There are great bar food choices just for a snack. They have shared plates along with regular menu items.(apps entrees) I got the truffle potato fritters and the ahi tuna sticks(shared plates good size). My husband got the taphouse burger. The food was delicious. We literally ate everything. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. The drinks. We tried a signature cocktail and i was a little hesitate at first because i do not like very fruity or sugary drinks. I believe it was called the apple snap. Wow it was great. Reminded me of drinks served in uptown. We also got the beer flight. 4 choices of beer for 12 $. The beer was good. Good selection and served cold. They have good happy hour specials and good drink specials that run all day. The service. We sat at the bar. Ben was our bartender. He seemed very knowledgeable about the menu. He made us the apple snap and looking back i wish we would have tried more signature drinks because it was apparent he knew what he was doing. Overall it is a huge improvement from the last time i came and i will definitely be coming back for the food and the drinks. My husband and i were very impressed with the food and drinks. Though when we came in tonight, it was very slow so i would like to see how well it runs with a crowd. If this place keeps it up, i can see a uptown kind of vibe here. Also we have foodie friends that visit from NOLA often and after this experience id save them a trip to uptown and would feel confident taking them here. Atmosphere is not quite there yet but then again, we went there on the Tuesday before Christmas. It has ALOT of TVS, inside and also has TVs located in a closed in porch on the side of the restaurant. It would be a great place to watch fights. games.etc.

Feel bad writing this but I spent $ 16 on a roasted chicken thinking I’d be getting a solid size meal and I think the whole thing was the size of my palm. I had to eat again as soon as I left. Place was also really busy so I want to cut them slack on the slow service. But I’ve been other places where it’s filled to the brim and could still get decent service. Was there 2 hours(service, not by choice) and the whole party didn’t even get asked what they wanted as a meal. Only reason I got a meal was because others got apps. And in the 2 hours we were only asked for drinks once. 1 beer and done in 2 hours. If I go back and service is better I will fix this review. But with so many similar options in the area that gave you meals worth $ 16 and have proven they can withstand large crowds, I’m not sure I will be back. I will say one positive thing. The roasted chicken was good, albeit if it was roughly 4oz. Oh, and there was one waiter who actually looked like he was trying but he wasn’t serving us. May have gotten a 2 – 3 star if he had been.

I’ve been in here twice now over the course of several months and both times were identical. Very friendly staff, decent prices, good food but completely empty. Last time was a Thursday and there were only two other tables at the bar when we got there. We drank a few drinks and had a flatbread and 4 – 5 more groups had wandered in to watch the NFL game by the time we left. The place is pretty massive though and the dining room part has been completely empty both times I’ve been there… does sort of make for a strange atmosphere. They have a ton of TV’s, good selection of beers and ciders on tap. Not sure why they can’t get more patrons in there.

Sports bars have the unenviable task of attracting, retaining and impressing customers. That seems kind of like a no-brainer since, outside of funeral parlors, that is the modus operandi of any business out there. But sports bars have to do it consistently, not just when«the game» is on, and that’s where things get a bit trickier. Fortunately, The Taphouse has their finger on the pulse of what the neighborhood needs, and they offer it in a way that will hopefully keep them around longer than the other businesses that have come and gone from this location. And that’s a great place to start, actually. Simply put, The Taphouse’s location is a mixed bag. Yes, it is near the corner of a couple of major highways(Tollway and 121), and yes, it is easy to see. But getting there involves a bit of effort. You have to enter the mall parking lot, act like you’re going to that indoor skydiving facility and take a right on the turn-in. And if you’re thinking the front door is where it has always been when this was TGIFriday’s or Tilted Kilt, you may be in for a surprise. The door is on a side you would not imagine it being on. So yeah, you need to –WANT– to come here to physically get here, but after one visit, that should not be a problem. We stopped in for lunch one weekend and the place looked less than busy. In fact, there may have been seven of us in the dining rooms. When we walked in, a waitress greeted us and said she would be right back to seat us. In that time, we noticed this is not your typical sports bar. Every chair in the dining room to the left has arms on it. The main waiting room is next to another room that I think patrons can use to lounge in. Multiple projector screens are in every direction, and somewhere north of 40 TVs are placed in the dining room and the bar and patio off to the right of the building. The place is open and inviting, but also casual and a bit more polished than you might be used to in a sports bar environment. The same waitress who greeted us came back to seat us in a two-person booth along the bar. She ended up being our server, and we were all the luckier for it. I believe her name was Kat, and she was the perfect server for a couple of first-timers like us, as well as the increasing amount of seats filling up the dining room. If there was one downside to this place, it was the stretched thin service. I don’t know if they are understaffed or their servers all called in because it was raining and they melt if water hits them, but the three servers and the manager on duty were all moving about in a flurry of service and speed. And they all seemed to know what they were doing, with smiles(!), but as more patrons came in, the pace felt more and more frantic. Just to reiterate, our waitress was wonderful, and everyone else seemed to carry their weight. But they might want to consider hiring a few more servers to ease the frenetic nature of the dining room. Now then, we have already established service was aces and the décor was pleasantly surprising. So how about the menu? If you can get past the fact that the menus we both had were apparently printed unevenly, to where lines of text were cut off here and there, pretty good! Beers are abundant, and seem to hail from the local breweries. And while we only came in for appetizers, those more than impressed us. The other night, a group of us wanted to go somewhere for drinks and pretzels and we could not agree on a place. From now on, we’re coming here. The pretzels are the best in town, and that might be the raspberry wine dipping sauce helping them win that title. An order of pretzels and the cheese and dipping sauce they come with is just about divinity in a dining room. But because we were feeling either buzzed by the brews or just naturally daring, we also opted for 20 wings. There’s a nifty option of paying $ 2 more to make sure your order is nothing but drumsticks, and I thought that was a great deal. I am not a wing connoisseur, so this offer might be available at other establishments; I’m not sure if this is just something The Taphouse does. But I am sure you will polish those 20 wings down with ease, just as you would your beers. Friendly and efficient staff, engaging atmosphere and a menu that does its best to rise above the stigma associate with what«bar food» has come to mean. All in all, The Taphouse is a fantastic addition to the area.

Tried this place out for lunch and while there were a couple small negatives, I could definitely see how it would be a fun place to watch some sports. For starters, they have tonsss of different beers(though I don’t really like that the menu is on TV screens instead of actual menus). I tried four different beers on draft, plus a couple bottles. The beers had their ups and downs, but if you get a chance to try the jalapeño beer, do it. It’s pretty tasty once you get into it and has a memorable first sip like no other. The food was also great. I tried the sweet potato fries and the angus beef wrap. Their chipotle sauce is amazing, though the wrap would definitely be more user-friendly if they used strips of beef instead of ground beef. As for service, our waitress was friendly, helpful and engaging. Only knock would be toward the end of the lunch, as it got slightly busier and we had to wait forever for our final check. But I guess that’s a result of it being understaffed or something. Anyway, had an overall positive experience and would come back. Try ‘em out!

Lukewarm experience. Went for the NFL draft. Was pretty sparsely populated. They claim to be a «taphouse», but their craft beer selection is really low(one barley wine, really?) The crowd is upscale enough, and it’s super clean, but it took over ten mins from when I say at the bar, to get served, and it was not busy at all. I’ll try it again because it’s close, but it’s nothing special… I was happier when it was a Tilted Kilt.

Like the cheers theme says, «you wanna go where everybody knows your name» Malachie is the waitress who will remember your name! This was my second time here abf I was real impressed she remembered me from my last visit. I mean I didn’t even get kicked out the first time so how could she remember a regular customer? Well she takes the time to get to know you. To me that’s World Class Customer service. Any restaurant can provide customer service but remember a customer and you will always stand apart in my book! Food is great! Had the Monte Cristo the first time and the Reuben the second time. Both were great but the monte was the favorite. Lots of beer to choose from but I’m not a beer snob ill take a fancy blue moon any day. Great Tvs cane to watch the NBA finals here. All in all love the place. I’ll definitely be back here simply because the level of service Malachie provides above all the other sports bars.

After a very long stint at Ikea, this pregnant lady needed a nosh, STAT! Taphouse was right there, and I felt like my sweet husband had most definitely earned a beer or three. So we stopped in at a kind of off time, late afternoon. We ordered the chips and queso which was really good. I would definitely recommend that. We also had some boneless buffalo wings with an IPA sauce, and I did not enjoy those. The sauce was heavy and did not have a great flavor to it. But, then again, I am pregnant, so some things hit me kind of weird. I did enjoy munching on the veggies and dip that came with our wings. My hubs loved his IPA, and I really loved my Arnold Palmer, but what I appreciated most was that our server kept it refilled, bringing me a fresh one when my first one got low. I know that drink is a bit of a pain, and doesn’t add much to the check, so I always really appreciate it when people go out of their way to keep a alcoholic drink refilled. Service was definitely give stars, but the ambience left a bit to be desired. It was early, so they weren’t busy yet, but it was really loud from the TVs. They probably should be turned down a touch when there are only a few tables full of people, and turn them back up when they’ve got a packed house. All in, not a bad stop after Ikea, and if you’ve been there long at all, you know you for sure need a drink after.

We finally made our way to the Taphouse to check it out, and came away very impressed. We arrived it was pretty empty so we wondered how our experience was going to be. The Taphouse is quite large inside. There’s a dining area that’s kind of offset from the bar area. We sat in the bar area on this visit. They also have a patio. There are so many TVs that no matter where you sit, you’ll be able to check out your favorite team. They also had some really good music playing. Our waiter was awesome. He was extremely knowledgeable about their craft beer selections, and they’ve got a lot. Very very impressive Taphouse! They’ve also got a ton of bottled beers but honestly I didn’t even look at that side of the menu. We ended up drinking Lakewood Temptress(best beer ever) and Cobra Golden Girl. Their beer selection is worth 4 stars on its own! The food was really good too. We started out with the fried pickles. Gotta say they were great. We followed that up with the fish and chips. The fish was perfect! I think the fries were the best. I like crispy fries and they were crunchy all the way through. We will definitely be back to check out more of their craft beer selection, and food, but mostly the beer!

My supervisor and I found this place on Unilocal during our visit in Dallas. We wanted to go to a pub and this was close to our hotel we were staying. It wasn’t busy at all and that could have been it was a Monday night. LOL The service was excellent and the bartender was on it. She kept us well taken care of and she knew her beer menu very well. She gave us a few recommendations birthday cake and the strawberry IPA. Those two were pretty good. We ordered some stuff of the menu such some buffalo wings and fried pickles. We enjoyed all of the food. It didn’t take to long for them to prepare it. The place has lot of TVs and two big projection screens. So where ever you are sitting in the facility you definitely have a TV to watch. Project screens though need more lighting. They seemed to have a dark picture to them. It’s conveniently located off hwy 121.

It’s no secret that when I travel I look for places with a solid beer list and good, if not great, food. When I discovered The Taphouse was right next to my hotel I figured I’d check it out. I went on a Saturday afternoon and there weren’t a ton of customers but there was life in the place. I sat at the bar and was given a draft beer list with soooo many options. So many that it took me awhile to look through everything. What I loved was that they had Texas beers. I know SD, CA is the beer capital but I love when I go places that support the local beer scene. I made a choice(finally) and ordered some food. I ordered the chicken and mashed potatoes with grilled vegetables and it was delicious. I know that’s not necessarily beer/bar/pub food but I wanted something hearty other than a burger. The mashed potatoes were perfect. Not too thick, but definitely not watered down. The service was great. The bartender was attentive without being in my face every minute. I know this place doesn’t have the best reviews but I’m happy I took a chance on a 3 star place.

This place should be called un-gastro. I happened to be at FedEx across the street. …was leaving and saw«Gastro». The menu is standard. … The server was very friendly, but nothing on the menu appealed. Booo…deceptive name

Taphouse is conveniently located right off 121 and in front of Stonebriar Mall. I have visited The Taphouse twice for lunch. Both of the times the restaurant was not even half filled during prime lunch hours which can be rare for this part of town. Therefore, no issues with service. I enjoyed the Bison Burger which was cooked medium well and very moist and hearty. The fries that come with the burger were hot and crispy. Their pricing could be dropped a bit and perhaps do better during lunch. I am intrigued enough to come back for dinner some time in the near future. It would be a great game watching venue with the several TVs all around the restaurant.

What a disappointment! I was excited for a new restaurant and had high hopes when I saw the menu and restaurant interior. But things quickly declined once our food(finally) came. I ordered the bison burger medium well and my fiancé ordered the angus burger well done. Both burgers were still pink inside. My fiancé’s was practically still moo’ing. I sent mine back but my fiancé was too hungry to wait and tried to choke down the outer edges of his. Our server apologized and said he’d send the manager over but one never came. Instead our server came back and said he would comp off one of the burgers for the inconvenience. I’m not sure why the manager didn’t feel it was important enough to stop by our table considering what happened and with their reputation as a new restaurant on the line. Also, we finished all of our drinks and never got a refill on anything through out the entire meal. He finally brought our check over then took what felt like forever to run the card. I’m not sure we’ll be going out of our way to give this place another shot.

Update 14May2015: I’m sad to say Taphouse no longer serve the pork belly. The monte cristo sandwich is really delicious, and the angus burger was pretty good as well. The side order of fries is huge! The crab and artichoke dip with pita bread was very delicious. I think this place is trying to consolidate its food menu. One thing I want to try is the bread pudding(it’s also huge). I still like this place and hope it becomes more popular :) It’s a nice relaxed environment to drink with friends. It’s not fancy, but do I really want to get dressed up for a glass of beer? No. Therefore, the casual environment is just fine for me. I never noticed until today how many TVs they have. They have A LOT! Original: My new favorite find in Frisco! Taphouse Gastro Kitchen & Bar has been open for over 3 weeks now, and it’s in front of Stonebriar Mall facing Highway 121(it took over where Tilted Kilt used to be). We ordered Mediterranean flat bread, a dozen oysters, crispy pork belly, and some beers. The pork belly was really delicious– it’s served on a bed of kale and sweet potatoes, and it’s $ 15. This place has a huge selection of beers and rotating HH/daily specials everyday except on Friday. Thursday is $ 3 margarita ladies night– I think I will take advantage of this soon. My Franconia wheat beer was $ 6 for 16 oz, and it was really good. I loved the music selection and the friendly staff. I think we can make it as hip as Whiskey Cake in Plano(prices are better for sure)!
