Sad to report that the Frisco outpost doesn’t compare to the McKinney location when it comes to the quality of their bbq. The marbled brisket I requested was dry and cooked too hot, too fast, resulting in a disappointing product – especially since McKinney Hutchins has some of the best brisket in the state. My to-go order was also incomplete despite the care that my cashier took in recording my request. Due to my long drive home, I really couldn’t return to complain – and this is a serious burn considering the $ 100+ tab. Is it better than other Frisco bbq options? Yes, but this location will need to improve its output and quality control immensely before I can shake off the memory of this bad experience.

Pretty busy place, me and my wife got there at 4:50pm and there was a small line already. The cafateria style doesnt do anything for me but the food was pretty good. Not the best bbq Ive ever had but if was slightly better than Dickies for me.

Don’t get me wrong. The food here is awesome. The brisket was moist and tender. The ribs were done just right. The sides aren’t anything revolutionary but just some great tasting food. My favorites were the mac n cheese and the broccoli salad. Pretty much, Hutchin’s delivers with what you expect Texas BBQ to be. My problem with Hutchin’s is how they do their all you can eat option. To get more food after your first plate, a server comes to your table and you have to ask them to bring whatever meats/sides you want. First, people come to a buffet to honestly get rid of the social interaction involved with a dining experience. Second, its really inconvenient when its a large party and the server isn’t provided a note pad to write everything down. Third and most importantly, it does not fufill the all you can eat option when the server asks each time they stop by your table if you are full rather than what else would you like and then stop serving your table all together.

Placed a to go order. All of the food was delicious. I would rate the food an overall 4⁄5. Had the Coke slaw, potato salad and Mac and cheese. All of the sides were good. Had the brisket, pork, and brisket stuffed jalapeños. Jalapeños were awesome. Menu says they are only available during the weekends. Definitely worth a try. Pulled pork was good as well. Brisket was a little dry but still better than average. My 3⁄5 rating has to do with the fact that I got all the way home and my order was not complete. They did not provide me with the half pound of sausage and our buns. Not only did I pay for the sausage, but that was the meat I was most looking forward to trying. I always try to check to go orders before leaving but everything was bagged and wrapped so I decided to trust it and got burned. After a 30 min drive home, I was not going to drive all the way back. Food was 4⁄5 but my only suggestion would be to check the bags before leaving.

Fortunately, there’s plenty of wonderful BBQ places in the greater DFW area. Hutchins helps keep that bar high. One of many good BBQ places, Hutchins belongs on any meat lover’s must eat list and while the line may move painfully slow the meat doesn’t disappoint. Hutchins is similar to Rudy’s(and most well-known Texas BBQ spots) where you walk up, order and carry a try to your table. You’ll find a roomy, inviting restaurant with friendly service, caring employees and that ever so famous Texas BBQ. Meanwhile, we didn’t come here for the service and didn’t wait in a line that moves slower than airport security to be letdown: and you be won’t. Regardless of which meat you choose to devour grand flavor and quality meat prevails. Every bite brings proof the pit master doesn’t cut corners, quality isn’t compromised and flavor is imperative. While the smoked sausage was packed with flavor, the juicy turkey succeeds at making most want to return soon. Meanwhile, the pulled pork exceeded expectations by not coming out dry and maintaining a great taste even without sauce. We enjoyed the brisket, too, but it was a tad dry(although we did ask for lean). On this trip we didn’t try enough sides to gain traction for a credible review. However, it was clear the french fries were hand cut and the okra wasn’t something we’d order again. And, do walk up to the drink station for dessert: it comes with the price of your meat and the banana pudding tastes far better than something free(and the ice cream is the same concept as Jason’s Deli. Hands down, if you complain about the BBQ here you’re the kind of person who would complain about only winning $ 20 million, when you wanted $ 25 million. The staff does a great job at making you feel welcome — and the meat brings taste buds to life.

Worth the wait, this place is off the chain delicious! You will not be dissappointed! Can’t wait to go back. Everything we’ve ordered has been super tasty and we want more. Portions are normal, not too big and not to small. Banana pudding and peach cobbler are are nice finishing touch for any dinner.

This place has the best BBQ North of Dallas! Not only was the food delicious but the service was awesome! The Manager Kelvin Mitchell deserves 4 stars alone for his attentiveness to the customers, and his staff. Kelvin had a wonderful sense of humor and the place was packed! Kelvin was very kind and very knowledgeable about the restaurant. The waitress(Tesa Morris) service was superb! Tesa was cheerful, quick, and very attentive! Any time we needed anything, she gave it to us quickly and it was always with a beautiful smile. Man I give this restaurant 5 *****Stars… Thank you, Ramona

Food is delicious! You will not be disappointed! We’ve tried the brisket, turkey, ribs and sausage– all so, so good! And the sides are awesome too! We recently ordered a party pack, and unfortunately found that a large part of our order was missing when we got home. Although it took several calls, we ultimately connected with Kelvin, one of the Frisco managers. He contacted me directly, listened to my concerns and made it right. Thank you Kelvin! We look forward to returning to Hutchins soon.

I ordered the ribs with mashed potato casserole and broccoli salad. Despite all the rave, I found this place to be just ok at best. The ribs were BITE off the bone! Very tough. The casserole was ok, but the broccoli was great. My first time having it, and it’s good. The staff is nice. The music is awesome. The restaurant is spotless. Oh and free cobbler or banana pudding. Based on overall experience, I’ll be back if I’m in the area.

Super nice staff. Seriously couldn’t get over that part. Very clean place. The fooooooooooood. Its amazing. Seriously good food. We tried the ribs, brisket, pulled pork and regular sausage. Next itime, I will just get the all you can eat ribs. I couldn’t get enough. They also have free desert after you are done eating. I must say the cobbler brought me back to when my grandmother made it. The crust was to die for. Best part, my super picky kids sat down and ate everything. This will be our new Sunday brunch place. I can’t wait to being more family back with us.

Ohh lawddd! Melt in your mouth type of BBQ. I have no words to describe the deliciousness I’ve eaten. The pulled pork, jalapeño cheddar sausage and brisket are mouth watering and the broccoli salad is full of flavor! Will definitely be going back my next visit to Texas! Would die a happy girl if I got to eat this for the rest of my life! Be sure to get the peach cobbler with vanilla icecream on top before leaving.

Hutchins is the best BBQ in North Dallas and competes for the best in DFW region. The locations may be a bit out of the way if you don’t live nearby but definitely worth making the trip. Food: The brisket is phenomenal! Incredibly smoky and moist! The brisket stuffed jalapeños wrapped in bacon are amazing! Free cobbler, banana pudding and ice cream with your meal! They know their meat and you can’t go wrong with Hutchins! Price: reasonably priced for high quality BBQ and when you consider the free desert it is a great deal! Bottom line: unless you are going to drive to deep ellum and wait for hours this is the best overall BBQ you will find in Dallas area!

Best brisket I’ve ever tasted and I’ve lived here in Texas for 16 years. Get the marbled brisket. It’s the best. Any time I am in the area, or have out of state guests, I make sure to stop in for a bite. Note however that it is only open Weds through Sunday or until they run out. I like how the manager walks around and makes sure everyone is taken care of. One time I complained(well she asked!) about my Okra being a bit too salty and she gave me my next lunch free. Only downside is that it is a little pricey. It’s easy to go nuts with the a la cart menu. But hey, you get what you pay for and then some!

This is, hands down, the best brisket I have ever had. They must smoke this with hits of crack in it, even when at full capacity in my stomach I still want to eat more. Odin himself must come down from Valhalla and deliver this unto them, moisturized by the tears of Chuck Norris… absolutely amazing. The jalapeño cheddar sausage is amazeballs as well! The price is a tad higher than the average BBQ joint, but let’s face it, this isn’t the average BBQ, and you get what you pay for!

I’m a BBQ Snob, I’ll admit it. I’ve traveled all over TX trying all the best places, Franklin, Kreuz Mkt, Salt Lick, Lockharts, Pecan Lodge, Blacks BBQ, etc… just to name drop and give myself BBQ Cred. I first had Hutchins when they catered an event at my workplace. I couldnt believe the brisket. So I made plans to go to ASAP. I had family in town from Chicago over Thanksgiving so I wanted to impress them with«real Texas BBQ». Our group ended up being about 15 so I called ahead and Heather(who is just awesome btw) assured me that she would have a table reserved for our fairly large group despite it being 6pm on a Friday night(Black Friday and heavy rain probably helped our cause a little, making business kinda slow that night) Anyway, on to the meat. Brisket(which is what I judge TXBBQ places on alone), was on point. Simple Salt and Pepper rub, light smoke over Post Oak and Pecan, perfect bark. I’m not sure, but based on the fat content I’d say they are USDA Prime briskets and at a minimum Choice. They do trim before smoking and I would prefer a little bit more fat be left on the flat but it was still good. the cutter does a fairly good job of cutting although the last two slices of the point(fatty part) he cut for me, were cut with the grain of the meat, making it tough and stringy. That’s a no-no cutter guy and you know it. They wrap the briskets in pink butcher paper which is a sign of a BBQ place that knows what they are doing. Pork ribs, very good, They sauce them right as they unwrap and cut them, which I could do without, but they keep it light so it’s OK. Ribs cooked perfectly coming clean off the bone with perfect bite(resistance). Some of the best ribs I’ve had in a BBQ joint ever. Smoked Turkey Breast. This was flat out amazing! Having just ate massive amounts of turkey the day before, I was reluctant to get more, but, I always try at least a slice just to see. I wish I had gotten more. I’d go back to this place based solely on the turkey. It was that good. Was told to get the stuffed jalapenos so we did. I found them to be ok but nothing to rave about. Several people in our group found them too spicy but hey, they’re Yankees. I’ve never included the following thing in any review, so yeah, this is special. The Potato Salad. Where did this stuff come from? It is the most perfectly balanced potato salad I’ve ever eaten. Not too sweet, not too tangy. It was perfect. It was as if Sweet Baby Jesus had made it himself. So, if you haven’t gone yet, try Hutchins it’s well worth it. Go see Heather who works in the dining room/hostess position. She’s super nice and attentive and will make sure your dining experience is top notch.

My new favorite BBQ place around here. They surpassed my old favorite place that is right down the street. The brisket comes in two cuts. Lean and marbled. Not sure why you would want the lean, it might be for the vegetarians or something. It has a great black crust on it that is delicious and also the red smoke ring. Their sides are also awesome. This is usually hard to find for a BBQ place. Their fried Okra is some of the best around and their Mac and Cheese is a winner too. They do have weird hours so check Unilocal before you head that way. I showed up once and they were closed, but I learned a lesson.

The best BBQ I’ve had in Texas! The brisket sandwich, sausage and sides here are delicious. The brisket is cooked to perfection. I ordered mine lean. I love the help yourself buffet line style to the ordering here. You put in your meat order with the carvers by the bbq pit and then help yourself to the bbq sauce and sides. Then you pay at the cashier. I ordered a brisket sandwich, ¼ lb sausage, 2 sides — corn and jalapeño mac n cheese and a Mexican Coke. My total was $ 19 and it was worth every penny. If you are looking for true Texan BBQ that is second to none, Hutchins is your spot!!!

Hands down the best BBQ I have had. The Fatty Brisket is intense!!! Strong smoke ring, the rub is peppery, and sauce is not needed. The ribs were delicate and succulent. I enjoyed the sides especially the Mac n Cheese, Jalapeño Beans, and Potato Salad. The service here was great and we got here at opening so I can’t speak on them running out of food. All I know is I’ll be back to try more things!!!

Why haven’t I gotten here sooner??? This place does it right! Easy to order and quick to serve. Get your meats and sides. Add fixings and enjoy free dessert! I’m a big fan and am ready to go back. I only wish that they were open more often! The brisket was so flavorful and you can tell it spent a good amount of time getting that way! The jalapeño cheddar sausage was good but I personally wouldn’t run back for it. The brisket stuffed jalapeños. Yes. Omg. $ 3. Do it. I had 2. They are big peppers and stuffed with meat and cheese. They are a knife and fork item for sure. The ice cream on the cobbler really was a great surprise! I thought it would be just ok/grocery store quality since it was just there for the taking but it tasted like my mama made it just for me! Lick your lips. Repeat.

It’s not often that an offshoot outshines the mothership, but that was exactly the case here at the Frisco Hutchins location. We had gathered for a lunch with an out of town friend, and after everyone arrived, we hit the line. I asked for my usual fatty brisket, and I liked what I saw going on the plate. I also asked for ribs, turkey and one of those delicious looking stuffed jalapenos. Rounding out the meal was a little mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, just to get another food group in there. After digging in, it was clear that this was some awesome meat. The brisket had a rich smoke flavor, was tender and juicy, and had just the right texture. Ribs had a sweet note in the rub, and good smoke as well. The texture was perfect, requiring a gentle pull to release it from the bone. Turkey had good flavor and good smoke, not always the easiest thing with the bird. But really, the star of the show was that stuffed jalapeño. It was stuffed to overflowing with chopped brisket and wrapped with bacon. It was a guilty pleasure with every delicious bite. The brisket had a little sauce mixed in, but wasn’t overly sweet. Overall, a great meal with some really good examples of the Texas style of barbecue. Highly recommended!
