It’s sad to see what’s happened to this place. They used to be the best bbq in Frisco, now they’re just plane gross and over priced. This seemed to happen when the shifted from ordering lines to table waiting. I hope the owners are listening and take action. Meanwhile, take your business elsewhere.

Honestly food was just ok… I’ve had much better BBQ and prices are a bit too high. I’ve been here only once and not coming back I found my favorite BBQ place and loyal customer there :)

I never even knew this place was tucked behind Hooters in Frisco. If you are a bbq fan and live in the area, then this is a place you should try. Enjoyed the rustic décor with wood floors and the service was pretty good. We went all out — appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Brisket Frito Pie was chosen to get the party started and we enjoyed every last bite. The bbq sauce, brisket, and Fritos were a tasteful, savory combination. For our main course we tried the sliced Angus Beef Brisket, Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage, Cheesy Corn Bake, Six Cheese Mac ‘N Cheese, and Loaded Smashed Potatoes. The brisket was a bit of a letdown as we’ve had better taste and quality at other places(Rudys) for less, but these were by far my favorite BBQ restaurant sides in the area. Absolutely amazing in flavor, quality, and the amount was just right. I think rolls or toast would be a nice addition for as much as you pay for a meal here. For dessert we enjoyed the brownie(rich and moist) with a hearty scoop of vanilla ice cream. Overall our meal at 3 Stacks was quite good, but at a BBQ restaurant we expect better meat for this price.

Brisket is the best. Sausage and pull pork are ok not great. They did not have smoke turkey which I have been told is very good. I rated this 2 stars as the server needs lots of training. She served us a wonderful basket of yeast rolls and corn bread. I had to ask for butter. The server brought out 4 cups of whip spread. Why do they not serve butter? She never did refill our Ice Tea. Price points are a slight high but quality is important to me and a little attention would help.

What in the world has happened to 3 Stacks??? As a bit of background, I’ve previously touted this as one of my favorite BBQ joints… certainly the best in Frisco. We’ve eaten here once a month if not more since it opened, and while service has occasionally been slow, and it’s a little pricey, the quality of food has been top notch and the we selection has been fantastic. I’ve referred friends here and taken out of towers here as well. It all changed last night. I went in with the rest of my family, including some from out of town. Nine of us in total. Not terribly busy for a Monday night, but service was still slow to start. We get our menus to order our usual dishes and notice a lot of changes. The ½ chicken, a staple of mine, is no longer on the build your own BBQ menu. The BBQ sandwich, which used to come with two sides, now comes with one. Our favorite side, and from what I heard, the most popular side, the sweet potato casserole, is no longer available. WTF??? I ask the waitress and she confirms there have been some changes and a lot of customers are complaining about it. Yeah, I bet. It takes us awhile to regroup but we make some changes and order. Quality of food has gone WAY down. I expected the burnt ends to be little charred pieces of BBQ. Instead, I got a few huge, grisly blocks of meat. Not at all what I had in mind and not very good. The supposed moist brisket was dry and tasteless. Ribs weren’t good. Something was up with the corn casserole because it didn’t taste right. My daughter said her Mac and cheese was weird tasting. Service was abysmal. We had to ask for more cornbread, which was really the only thing good we got, four times before we got more. Waitress was gone for 10 – 15 mins at a time before we could flag her down. A woman saying she was the manager came and asked how everything was, so I told her. She agreed that the changes weren’t popular with the customers and she’d pass on my comments to ownership. However, no offer to comp any food or provide even a free dessert. Heck. For that matter, she didn’t even apologize for the horrible experience. and then we waited another 15 mins for the waitress to bring our checks so we could get out of there. I’m not sure if they’re losing money or feel like they’re not making enough so they need to cut corners but if so, they’re cutting the wrong corners. At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them closed within the next 6 months, which would be sad because it had been one of the best restaurants in Frisco. If ownership or management reads this, you better pull your head out of your ass really soon. The product and service you’re rolling out these days is a disgrace compared to how you were before. From one long standing customer, if you don’t fix what’s broke, you won’t be getting my money anymore and I guarantee others will follow suit.

The brisket queso and the sweet, buttery cornbread were delicious. The fried okra and the mac n cheese, good, too. Overall, I was really impressed with sides. The barbecue, however, was just okay, and I did not care much for either of the sauces. We had the family meal… which added up to about $ 20 per person. Considering that, the meat portions were not stingy, but certainly not generous. We needed the appetizers and bread to fill up. Also, even though the menu said the drinks were included, they charged us for them, so we had to call that to their attention. The meat was tender but bland in flavor, and the pulled pork was way too stringy… All in all, it was okay, but I can not see myself going back.

Let’s just say I was a little skeptical since we didn’t order at the counter like most of the other top-notch BBQ places in Texas. But I kept an open mind. So, here goes: 5-stars: The sides, especially the cheesy corn bake and the 6-cheese mac and cheese. 4-stars: The pulled pork had the right combination of smokiness, tenderness, and moisture; the cornbread felt and tasted more like cake, with a sweet, sugar-coated top; the chipotle BBQ sauce nicely offset the meat; the jalapeño cheddar sausage was plump, juicy, and not overly spicy. 3-stars: we asked for«moist» brisket(most legit BBQ places aren’t afraid to call it «fatty» cut), but, despite a nice flavor, was not as tender as I expected; the smoked turkey also had great flavor, but was not as juicy as I am used to. These kinds of things can happen, that’s why I give most places more than one try. I will definitely return … and hopefully have the chance to partner one of the 30-something drafts available. Thanks to 3 Stacks for being part of the DFW area’s surge in BBQ in the past 5-plus years. Nice to not have to drive to Central Texas to get the real deal.

Great food but the service is hit or miss. Make sure to ask for the lean brisket if you are into the beef. My wife says its only me but i really dig the potato salad. She loves the chicken. We are regular customers and haven’t found anything bad on the menu.

Well, we came on a Saturday evening to celebrate a friend’s birthday. It is very rustic inside with all pine tables and walls. North Dakota State University fans had taken over the place after their win in a bowl game they played in Frisco. We waited 30 minutes for our table, and then we were seated in the bar area, so I’m thinking they don’t have first come seating in the bar, it is all hostess seating. The bummer is it would have been nice when we signed up for the wait they would have told us about everything they are out of that evening. Usually bar-b-q joints post the things they are out of as they runout. They were out of brisket stuffed bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers. Such a bummer I really had been wanting to try them. We settled on queso with brisket which was actually really good and onion rings. Those were just ok. I wanted to order the pork tacos, but you guessed it they were out! I settled on the fish tacos. They were not good at all. I could only choke down one. It was flavorless and it didn’t come with salsa or anything… Just bland. The hubby had the three meat plate with ribs, brisket, and jalapeño sausage. The sausage was the best part of the meal. The brisket was so fatty. You can order moist or dry, so I’m guess moist means fatty??? Our server was very sweet, but green. She really couldn’t explain the menu or give much depth of what the choices were.

A tad over priced but it’s what to expect in Frisco at a bbq joint. Atmosphere was fun. Not too loud. Burnt ends and jalapeño sausage are a must

The Bar does a really great job. Drinks were excellent and well priced. The food was mediocre and it’s questionable if it’s worth the price. Service was friendly and fast. Ended up here on a Saturday night after determining that the line at Hutchins up the street was too long. Needs a serious upgrade on the bbq and sausage to make it a destination instead of «just another bbq place.»

First, 3 Stacks moved away from the self service line/cashier to a seating resturant with wait staff… The major problem with this paradigm shift was it caused them to raise their prices across the board by 35−50%, and their original prices were higher than Hutchins, where the food quality is much higher too. My lunch crew went here, against my recommendation, and was really disappointed. We were the first seated for the lunch in the restaurant, place our orders, still we waited for almost 40 minutes… Frustrating because we ordered stuff that was already cooked/prepared. Quality was well below that of Hutchins… Which we all agreed to stick with going forward. –b

From being out of town, I thought their brisket was the best I’ve ever had. However, I also haven’t tried too many so according to my foodie husband, he said it’s better than average but not the best. Regardless if you’re going on a Sunday night, they might run of out meat. When I went, they ran out of all types of ribs as well as chicken. Wish they could have a bigger inventory of supplies :( I did go the next day to grab some take out ribs before leaving on a plane and it was delicious as well. I thought it was a little too chared but the flavor was outstanding

Have been here a few times and the food is good. Not great, not amazing, but a very solid«good». Like others said, décor is very nice. No «smoke» smell inside which helps a lot for a pleasant dining experience. A reasonable happy hour, one staple I always get is the BBQ pizza, it is spicy, fill of meat and a great way to start! Overall, a decent selection for BBQ but not an outstanding one. Certainly worth a try!

The Best BBQ place anywhere PERIOD! I have tried them all … and everywhere… Brisket, Sausage, turkey(we prefer on Thanksgiving to any we could fix) and chicken… all are awesome! (Best Beer selection too) The brisket stuffed jalapeño appetizer is a must try. The corn casserole side is phenomalinal Go! You will not be disappointed

I want to love this place, but it our visits are becoming less frequent and more disappointing. The food used to be fresh and on point. Lately, this is not the case. We ordered the fried pickles and they awesome! I’ve ordered the Cowboy Cobb many times and today the turkey was so hard it was impossible to eat. The bacon on it was more like beef jerky than bacon. This used to be my favorite meal here, now it’s a sad reminder of what used to be. My other half ordered the burnt ends with fries and green beans. The meat was good, but the fries looked and tasted like they were made yesterday and dropped in the grease to reheat today. Also, the green beans were shriveled and looked like they had been microwaved multiple times. I saw three managers during our visit and not one of them spoke to us or asked how things were. They were quick to flirt and play around with the servers. I’m a big believer in feedback! If your not talking to your customers, how can you ensure that they’re happy? Talking to your customers should be top priority! On a positive note, the service at the bar top was great. She was sweet and quick to get out drinks and food out. I hope our last few visits were just off days, but I’m seeing a pattern.

The name of the place almost makes it look like an upscale-version of a BBQ ribs place. I wasn’t sure how to order but I just ordered the one meat for $ 13 that comes with 2 side dishes and I thought it was a good portion size for one person. I got to try the corn as the side dish and with just one bite, I already felt 30% full before digging into my sliced brisket plate and my two side order of green beans and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were kind of bland, so I had to put some black pepper for a bit of a kick. The original sauce was amazing. Service was a bit mediocre on that night that I have been.
