What can I say? All other restaurants should be measured against Babe’s. The absolute best that a family restaurant can be in my opinion. The chicken and all the side dishes are wonderful. I can’t recommend this place high enough. Love it!

Ordered takeout. Just wanted fried chicken. Ordered the meal and its served with 8oz sides. Too much for someone who doesn’t really like the sides. Got there and found out you can get just meat! Yippee! Now I can get my fix without being concerned I’d waste the sides.

We love Babe’s! All of their food is amazing. I especially love the fried chicken and salad. My husband loves the chicken fried steak! We tried the catfish for the first time, and it was very good and very fresh! Our kids love the tenders and the sweet corn. We all go home stuffed and always have a bag of leftovers.

My first time at Babes. Loved the fried chicken and catfish. The side dishes were good too. I like my coconut chocolate meringue pie for dessert too! It was fun when the staff celebrated someone’s birthday. One time they came out and did the hokey-pokey and family members would join the line and dance too. Good time for all.

Best biscuits ever. Put the butter and honey on it. Nothing like it. Best mashed potatoes and gravy ever. Chicken is great. Strips are awesome. Kinda like Canes. Chicken fried steak is great. Kinda feels like eating in a barn, which is fun. Service is always perfect. My wife and I keep coming back with the kids. It’s our family’s favorite restaurant.

Normally Food: 5 Stars Normally Service: 5 Stars Last night: 2 stars food & service Let me start by saying, I love Babe’s & would consider myself a «regular customer»! Sadly, last night was a very different experience than I have ever had… We waited 45 minutes for a table of 2 at 8pm.(Waiting that long isn’t out of the ordinary to wait that long– so no worries there.) Our waiter was nice and because we know the menu, we knew what we wanted & placed our order as soon as we sat down. Burnt rolls(not normal) & salad came out super fast. Then our sweet teas showed up several minutes later. Since the service is usually really quick at Babe’s, I decided to go to the restroom and wash my hands. Upon my return, my chair had been taken & given to the table next to us, even though my opened utensils, salad, and drink were sitting in front of it?! Confused, I turned to the waitress that was attending the table next to us, and I nicely said, «You took my chair.» She looked at me, then looked at my salad sitting on the table, and the spot where there should have been a chair, and said, «sorry.» THENLOOKEDAWAY! Having every person at their table turn and stare at me standing there wasn’t uncomfortable at all :/. It truly was not a problem to just use the extra chair at my table, but I think what got me upset was that someone took my chair with my food right there in front of it! Clearly someone(me!) was using that chair!?! And then I was treated like I was in the wrong for saying something! I am guessing the waitress went back to the kitchen and complained to our waiter, because our food didn’t come out for over 30 minutes.(Crazy wait time for Babe’s!) People who came in long after us got their food immediately(and ordered the same things we did). Our waiter acted very strange the rest of the time and only filled my husband’s tea 1 time, but never offered to refill mine. When our food finally came out, it was warm– even though the waiter mentioned the reason for the wait was that he was«just waiting on smoked chicken.» I was expecting our food to be piping hot? Oh well, it still tasted good being lukewarm! Even though we did not have our regularly awesome Babe’s experience, I know Babe’s makes great food. Maybe next time my seat won’t get stolen, or I just won’t go to the bathroom!

I had never eaten at Babes and a friend suggested we have then cater an event I was planning. What a treat! The catering staff was easy to deal with, the food arrived hot and delicious and everyone enjoyed the dinner. At their suggestion we served both fried and smoked chicken(2⁄3 fried, 1⁄3 smoked), mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, bean and those *amazing* biscuits! They brought everything in insulated plastic tubs and we served 150 people in about 15 minutes. I have been to tons of banquets where the food was so-so, but Babe’s was hot, fresh and delicious! Now I have to go eat at the restaurant.

I’ve eaten plenty of fried chicken from all over. I never say this but this place is orgasmic. 12.99 for 4 pieces of fried chicken and unlimited sides. Biscuits are absolutely delicious like how grandma would probably make, if my grandma made biscuits. The corn was fire! You can’t go wrong with any of the sides but I could hold off on the green beans. Fried chicken was perfectly fried, flavorful and juicy. My bf had the chicken tenders and they were great also. Did not make room for dessert but I’m sure it would have been amazing too. Definitely coming here again. I’ve never said OMG so many times during a meal. Friendly staff and very cute barn décor! Defy worth a trip to see and eat. Kudos to this establishment

We went on Saturday, May 28th. The Jimmy Buffet concert was in town and there were tons of people there to eat because of that because the arena is nearby. It was fun because they were all there plus the ambiance of the place is great! We got there by 4:40pm, which I would recommend on a Saturday night, especially if there’s a concert. The food was great! Fantastic fried chicken, chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes and gravy like my Mom made and my husband’s Mom made without all the trouble. I would go back and my husband totally agrees with me. We took my sister, who was in town with her husband and also my brother and they all loved theirs. We also took my son who ordered the smoked chicken and he really enjoyed his as well. I think our bill was around $ 95, which for a party of 6, without alcohol, is very reasonable. They refill the biscuits, salad, sides and drinks for free. They don’t on the meat but it’s a pretty large serving. We brought home 2 pieces of chicken &2 biscuits. The chicken fried steak takes up half of the plate, literally! We had to about 20 minutes to get into the place which I didn’t consider to be bad for the crowd that was already waiting. It is BYOB so you can bring beer or wine if you want. Our waitress was awesome! Everyone was friendly, including the girls that checked us out. And they do have staff that sings. Fun place to bring out of town family or friends that has good food that’s not fancy but down home and it’s fun!

Worst place!!! $ 31 for two chicken fried steaks and yes gravy is extra we find this out after getting home ready to eat our ridiculous over priced chicken fried steak that is no better than market street $ 6.99 meal where yes the gravy is included!!! I will never go back to this over priced and over hyped place and drove 30 minutes home and no gravy. Glad it wasn’t good due the price and their service.

The best family style dinner in North Texas. Great food at a reasonable price. Their homemade biscuits are to die for. The chicken fried steak are huge with lots of flavor and texture. Highly recommend for large family.

Just as good as the one in Roanoke. Normally I wouldn’t stray far from the tried & true original location but the Frisco location didn’t disappoint. Zach was awesome! He was prompt, courteous, and even convinced my dad to do the chicken dance! We had a party off 12 and they got us seated quickly. Definitely enough chicken and mashed potatoes to make you hate yourself afterwards. Keep it up, people!

Maybe it’s just me, but Babe’s is rather underwhelming for all the hype and things I hear about it. It’s good food for sure, but you’ll be starving by the time your wait is over and go into a calorie coma for it. I’ve been here twice, and also once to another location. The hype I was surrounded with is starting to fade. My wife’s family set me up to think this is the greatest food in Texas, that my balls would literally be blown off by how amazingly wonderful Babe’s is. That the 1 hour wait was worth it. I almost want to believe them. But I have to look past the buildup and just give it a solid«Eh.» Don’t get me wrong, the food is awesome, I’ve had the chicken strips, chicken fried steak, fried chicken, all the sides are top tier. Biscuits are also very good. But there’s no variety, they don’t even have a menu, because you automatically get all the sides, and a choice of meat. You get a TON of food, probably more than you would normally want to eat in a week. The great fallacy here is that you think you’re getting a great deal with unlimited sides, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen people go into a frenzy over biscuits and gravy so much… That’s the other thing that was sold to me as God’s greatest gift to this restaurant, the«family-style» serving. Basically, they give everyone their own plate, and serve the meat and sides in communal bowls. While it sounds unique, exciting, and like it would promote family togetherness, all it does is remind me of why you have individual plates at restaurants… and how crazy & ravenous people get around communal bowls(Idk.maybe it’s just my family). Even if only one person orders a certain kind of meat, it comes on a separate plate. The chicken fried steak even comes stacked on a plate, where you take one and pass it around. It just comes off as lazy service and really unnecessary at a restaurant. And then the wait. If you arrive within 2 or 3 hours of the peak dinner hour, expect to wait at least half an hour. Over an hour if it’s around 6. Way over an hour if you have more than 4 in your party. And the waiting area is always packed, with very little seating space. When I wait that long for food, it better be the best I’ve ever had, and Babe’s just doesn’t cut it. In the end, it may be a matter of personal preference. There are people who swear up and down that Babe’s is the best food they’ve ever had and the best restaurant in DFW. But if you’re looking for variety, good portion sizing, excellent service, & a reasonable wait, look elsewhere.

Such a good experience. We were told it would be a 45 – 50 min wait, but it was 30 min. Our server was very nice and accommodating. All of the sides were good, and we got our full of them. In particular I liked the green beans and biscuits. The salad was slightly over dressed, but whatever it suited the general experience. The chicken was great, for us a value for the money; we enjoyed our leftovers the next day. We were tourists here, but I’m certain we would frequent if we were locals. Their birthday song looked like fun.

We went to Babe’s Chicken House for dinner last night! We got the chicken and the fish! Needless to say it was awesome! They accommodated our request to have the fish fries crispy! The salad, corn, beans, potatoes, and biscuits were all awesome!!! We went for dinner which started at 5; we arrived around 6 and it was already packed. We ended up having a 25 – 30 minute wait to get seated. But it was definitely worth the wait! I think it’s safe to say we’ll be going back!

I thought Texas only served up one kind of meat, and maybe pork if you want to consider that meat, but chicken? That’s right. Chicken! Fried, grilled, roasted, you name it, Babe’s does it and she does it well! My boyfriend and his daughter loved this place so much they went twice and from what I understand, the Frisco location is a lot better than the one out in Garland. And does he know me or what? This place is super kitschy – totally my cup of tea. Cheesy signs telling you to eat your vegetables and honky tonk phrases are hung throughout the restaurant, along with stuffed deer heads and antlers. Vegetarians and vegans need not apply. For this visit it was just me and the boyfriend’s parents; none of us had ever been to this location though I know they’ve checked out the one in Garland in the past. We ordered fried chicken, chicken fried steak, and fried catfish. Side note: catfish is a dollar extra. Must be an exotic meat, lol. Sides are unlimited — biscuits(get as much as you want they’re perfect), green beans(they were OK), creamed corn(heavenly), mashed potatoes, and white gravy. Service was quick and friendly even though it was busy that evening. I would definitely dine here again in the future.

Wow! What an incredible concept for a restaurant. You may have a bit of a wait, but it’s worth it. The waitress is your menu and you have a selection of meats. There is fried chicken, chicken fried steak, smoked chicken or fried catfish. The sides are refilled as often as the table needs them: salad, biscuits, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, and gravy. Everything is absolutely Southern cooking at its best. The atmosphere feels like everyone decided to meet at Granny’s for Sunday dinner. You can even take the meats home but not the sides since they are refilled. We are making this restaurant a family tradition.

Now … this is a Texas Family Meal. Words cannot ladle enough praise or gravy on what Babe’s has to offer. Those Yanks up north simply do not understand the concept of Chicken Fried Steak. Let alone a solid Fried Chicken(aka Southern Fried Chicken if your’e above the Mason-Dixon Line). Somebody once said that Babe’s is not the place you want to bring on a first date. Number 1, she’ll think you’re taking her to a strip club or one of those restaurants. Number 2, do you really want to pig out in front of a girl you’ve just met? Number 3, maybe she loves Texas comfort food as much as you do so it doesn’t matter. Number 4, who cares?! It’s CHICKEN F-ing FRIEDSTEAK. Ok, ok. They also have Fried Catfish and that’s just as good(if not better). In fact, make sure she gets the fried catfish so you can still order CFS(Chicken Fried Steak … does anybody use CFS yet) and then split the plates in half. Better yet, you know she’s only going to eat half her portion so that means you get to pig out on 1.5 entrees(you’re paying for it anyways). Now, somebody also once said that you can judge a person by his or her plate. Is her plate nice and compartmentalized? That is … did she separate the creamed corn, green beans, and mash potatoes neatly in separate piles? Or is she like you where all that southern goodness is piled on top of each other? Eh … I feel fat now. But in a good way. Delicious.

Okay I love Babe’s. And I’m not sure if I love it *because* of what it is or *in spite* of what it is, and I’m not sure I care one way or the other. I was excited to introduce Kasey to Babe’s as he’d never been(but had heard me talk about it for years). I love the amusement park-level effort that is put into making the building look like an old tin shack. I love the funny sayings hanging on the wall and the loop of 90’s-pop-country staples playing(although I bet the staff tries to die after hearing God Blessed Texas for the ten-thousandth time). I like the unabashed Texas pride(though isn’t all Texas pride unabashed?) and the old-time country store feel of the cash register area. The food is the real star though! Some of the best fried chicken I’ve had outside of my mom’s — very crispy skin on the outside, juicy, moist chicken inside! I love the family-style sides, especially the biscuits. Everything is scratch, everything is delicious, and everything comes out piping hot. Our server was a little lax on tea refills and a little bit too busy getting some side work done to pay much attention to us, otherwise, this would have been a 5 star review.
