I don’t normally write reviews, but these guys went above and beyond. While enjoying their delicious mac n’ cheese with a recommended glass of red, I somehow broke the stem right off the glass while still holding the bowl of the glass. The whole restaurant stopped mid-bite and the manager rushed over: «Oh my goodness, are you ok? This happens all the time.» The staff swooped up the glass, and everything else on the table just in case the glass chips had traveled. The whole table was cleaned, re-plated, and we went merrily back into our fresh wine and mac. I’ve seen emergency responders who looked like sloths in comparison(sorry sloths). We’ll definitely be back after I dry off my butterfingers.

Partner and I had lunch here yesterday. We waited about 50 minutes to get to-go sandwiches with only about 3 tables occupied late afternoon… After my partner ordered I stood at the counter for almost 10 minutes trying to get someone’s attention because the girl thought we were ordering together. Then we got paged to go to work a few minutes before it was even ready. so when I got to the sandwich it had sat in a fridge for 4 hours. Certainly not a meal experience I want to repeat. I’m sure the sandwich would have been great fresh but probably not worth $ 15 in my opinion. I ordered the pastrami and my partner had the grilled cheese– neither were impressive :( If you’re in a hurry for the ferry or have a short lunch break stay far away.

Delightful restaurant. Bright, clean, efficient. Lots of lighter choices that leave you full but not feeling disgusting from grease like some breakfast places can. Husband and I had paninis for breakfast — he had the pastrami on rye, I had the black forest ham. Both came with a delicious potato salad that had generously sized red skinned potatoes. The panninis were done right — cheesy and the bread was pressed thin and crispy. Coffee was well done and our server was extremely pleasant. We had to catch a ferry and had our meal, eaten and paid in 30 min(they are mindful of the schedules of the island!). There were also recommended wine/beer pairings with the foods which we would’ve loved to indulge in if it weren’t so early! I also saw a sign that there’s brunch on Sundays from 10 – 2 — I wish we could’ve stayed for that!

I’d give them 10 stars if I could! We stopped in Friday Harbor for lunch while on a whale watching excursion, and had the most lovely lunch here– cheese, charcuterie, and rosé. The staff at the restaurant then went above and beyond assisting me in proposing to my girlfriend. They really made the moment extra special. We’ll definitely be back in the future!

Sunny, airy and friendly place for a light lunch. Very pleasant and friendly staff and delicious food. I ordered and loved the ham grilled cheese and clam chowder — both fantastic and presented artfully. The only drawback was rather slow service, possibly during peak lunchtime. However, after letting our server know that we had a ferry to catch our food came right out and we made it! Would definitely come back when we’re in the area.

Made reservations for a late afternoon Easter brunch. Wishing we were able to get in earlier as out of 3 courses, all of our top options were out, including cheesecake for dessert. We still enjoyed the fare, service and environment. Add this place on your list of dining musts.

Stopped by here for lunch and we were not disappointed — delightful, knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere and delicious food. My cheese platter was amazing and my husband enjoyed the smoked salmon chowder with a sandwich. The chef even came out to inquire about his removal of the aioli to see if he wanted the fig spread instead — they obviously care a lot about the flavors, as well as the customer experience. As tomorrow is Easter Sunday and they are doing a special brunch, we decided to make a reservation and enjoy another meal in this quaint spot. A definite must if in Friday Harbor!

Delicious everything – cheese plate, sandwiches, good tea, a local cider too! Wonderful wine selection, cheese to go. Gluten free options were fabulous too!

I ordered the quiche of the day(vegetarian with butternut squash & Gruyère) to go. I thought the price was a little steep($ 10) for a piece of quiche that they put in a box with some brownish mixed greens & dsg in a cup. I ended up not being able to eat the quiche the texture & how cold it was — my fault, I asked for it cold — just didn’t do it for me.

Delicious and pleasant experience all around. Quaint café with sit down dining service, bar seating, and a deli counter. Everything we ordered was fantastic, and left us wanting to order more even once we were plenty full. Great Washington State wine selection(even for a picky California-style wine drinker). The smoked salmon chowder, cheese plate, and lavender lemon cheesecake were standouts. Can’t wait to come back!

Went here with my husband, mom and brother the other day and fell in love! We ordered a cheese board and a bottle of champagne and were in heaven! Two of the three cheeses were local and delicious. The boys did a beer tasting of local beers on tap. I had a wonderful beet salad and they are still talking about the salmon chowder! Mom said it was the best she ever had. The staff was wonderful and knowledge about the cheeses. It’s a small place with seating inside and out but be prepared to wait for a table. We can’t wait to come back on our next vacation here.

Their Romantic Picnic package was incredibly well done. The cheeses, three salami’s, hazelnuts, dried cranberries, olives, pickled beets, and array of breads and crackers with side of mustard were well labeled and more than expected. Package that with cookies, chocolates, wine, boxed water(very cool!), utensils, fancy hand wipes, all in an easy carry bag, and you have an excellent feast. Might seem spendy at $ 70 with tax — but completely worth it. Excellent service and food, and couldn’t recommend more highly!

Came here twice in our brief stay in the San Juan Islands and loved it. The owners are super friendly(they even brought out books to keep our young kids occupied!) and they seated our party of 8 even though it was very near closing time. Also, home to one of the most delicious BLTs I’ve ever had. Bacon crisped to perfection and thick fresh tomatoes on delicious bread. Highly recommended!

If we had missed this we would have missed the best day of our visit to Friday Harbour! The most pleasant of lunches. The wine was good the cheese was good. I’m not sure what more to say without gushing! Go here and forget the rest! The service was delightful. On a hot day we sat in the shade and enjoyed a spectacular rose’ they have got a winning idea here!

Walking distance from town center, San Juan Cheese is a casual wine and cheese bar that also serves sandwiches(panini) and local beers. Big fan of the Orca Island stout, but they also offer a few more. They also have local wines and even local cheese. If you want a snack or appetizer before lunch or dinner, it’s a neat little place to check out. In sunny weather, sit outside on their patio!

OK, this place is insanely good. We had plenty of good food while here on the island, but this was probably the best meal yet. No kidding. The goat cheese board was amazing, the wines were exceptional, and the TUNAMELT… Don’t get me started talking about the tuna melt. Just order one. Can’t wait to come back and try more new things here. Absolutely love this place!
