Maybe the employees are a little tired of tourists and it makes them a little short on patience. Wasn’t too impressed when I walked in. I wanted to sample some wine and asked a few questions. Which one would you recommend, which of these two do you prefer… And responses were, idk, whatever you want, it’s your preference. I decided I wasn’t interested in being in the store any longer and left. Overall the man serving wine was pretty rude.

Owners were so friendly, and matched my sense of humor to a t. Enjoyed the wine tasting, and made sure to take a bottle of San Juan cellars home. But it was gone too quickly… should have bought a case!!!

Popped by on a recent visit to Friday Harbor for a little wine tasting and had a very pleasant experience. The wife and husband owners were friendly and the wines generally were very good. I especially enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc and the Syrah. The wine shop also has a great selection of wines and fun items for purchase. Worth a visit.

Horribly rude man serving wine. Was prepared to enjoy and hopefully purchase a case or two. Would not recommend due to rudeness. Will not return too many other places that are happy to have my business. I give no stars except I have to select one to post.

Our group of four saw«Wine Tasting» and«Open» signs on the front door, and knew we had to go in. We found ourselves in a cute little wine store with well-stocked shelves, hilarious wine-related paraphernalia such as door mats and fridge magnets, and an impressive array of bottles lined up for tasting at the bar. You can taste two wines for free, or taste all ten for $ 5. Needless to say, we decided to shell out $ 5 each. First off, the wine is all pretty good, with reasonable prices to boot. There’s a suggested tasting order(dry whites — sweeter whites — reds — dessert wine) that you should definitely go with. While our group certainly didn’t dislike anything, the dessert moscato was the biggest hit – we each took home a bottle. The true highlight of the tasting was the sassy owner who poured the wine for us – she was a hilarious, delightful old woman, and we had a great time chatting, joking, and tasting wine with her for a half hour. Definitely the most fun I’ve ever had tasting wine!

I stopped in here waiting for the ferry back to Anacortes. The owner was very friendly and we decided to do a tasting of all 10 wines for $ 5 a person from San Juan Winery. The wines were enjoyable and decently priced. They have a lot of cool corky wine giftables in this store too! I recommend trying this place out.

It is hard to resist this place when the tasting is free! They have a great selection of local wine and a lot of cute wino gadgets. Hard to come out without a bottle… or 2… or 3…

This shop was so cute! And free wine tasting! Yay! The staff were so friendly, she even took our picture for us! This was the first stop we made after getting off the ferry and it really started out our Friday Harbor experience wonderfully! I could have spent $ 100’s in this shop, they have so many fun wine accessories! I did buy 2 glasses with the logo, 2 bottles of Reisling and a bottle of Chardonnay. Wish I would have bought more!

Who can say no to a free wine tasting? Located right off the docks from the ferry terminal, this truly mom and pop wine shop carries personality and reasonable prices on a wide selection of wines. Grab a bottle for under $ 15 for a picnic on the island and be sure to pet Gracie on your way out the door.

Nice people and nice wine! We were offered a tasting of the San Juan Cellars wines and I agree with Marcus P. about the Sauvignon Blanc. That’s the one we got and it was great. This is a cute little wine shop — definitely check it out!

In Friday Harbor on San Juan Island there’s a great little wine shop with everything you need for a weekend away or a great gift to bring home. Just off the ferry turn an immediate left and you’ll find Island Wine Company. It’s not a large store, with shelves overflowing with wine, but there are definitely plenty of things to grab your attention and wet your palate. First, there are a multitude of wine accessories for the faithful traveler. Get a new corkscrew to share that special bottle on the beach or a novelty napkin set to bring home as a gift. Second, but most importantly is of course the wine. The selection isn’t extensive but the quality to quantity ratio is definitely over the top. Island Wine Co. offers a fine selection from some of the most sought after producers in Washington and the Northwest, including Owen Roe, Quilceda Creek, Woodward Canyon and Domaine Serene. Island Wine Company is also home to San Juan Cellars, with wines produced by famed Barnard Griffin winemaker Rob Griffin, and is the only place to taste and purchase these wines. Seriously. They aren’t sold anywhere else or even available in any restaurants. So, if you really want a taste of the islands then pickup a bottle to enjoy during your trip or to bring home. They offer numerous wines, all very reasonably priced and of good quality. In these warmer months I would recommend the Sauvignon Blanc. It makes a perfect accompaniment to the sunny San Juan’s and some great regional shellfish.
