Wandered in here to satisfy an ice cream craving and luckily we had cash on us as they don’t accept cards. My first impression was the ice cream and how it seemed really soft and melted like the cooler wasn’t cold enough. The boys ordered and my mom asked if she could have a sample of a flavor. As the employee handed her the sample she rudely said«just so you know you are only allowed two samples.» Well thanks lady but we hadn’t even asked for more than one sample and guess what the sign posted on the ice cream case already says that. I walked out after that with a crappy feeling and still craving ice cream! The boys ate their ice cream but said it wasnt anything special. Skip this place and head over to Yo Friday Harbor for some great ice cream from a local creamery and great service!

To all of you who rated an ice cream shop terribly, go back to your boutique ice cream store you snobs. This place has good ice cream. It isn’t fancy schmantzy, it’s just ice cream. Head to seattle and go to capital hill and sip on your high class cream. This place is everything you need, nothing you don’t. Basic ice cream, lots of choices and lady was nice. All you who poorly scored this poorly, slug a few milligrams of ativan. You need it.

The ice cream itself was fine, nothing spectacular but not bad. The owner & employees were unbelievable rude. While trying to make up my mind I asked to sample a flavor and the girl told me ‘we’re not giving samples today’… uh ok. I asked what was in the flavor and she said«there’s a sign over on the wall».(Apparently it was too difficult for her to respond with ‘coconut, chocolate, caramel and almonds’.) Every interaction with them seemed to annoy them, they never once could crack a smile, flat out attitudes & rude. When I went to check out I asked the owner«Is this your store?» to which she replied, ‘yeah, wanna buy it’. I told her«no, I’m just very surprised with how rude these girls are» to which she said«you have no idea how many people we have to put up with»(I was the ONLY person in the store — which was also why the ‘no samples today’ particularly surprised me). Since customers and a healthy business seem to bother the owner so badly, I’ll make sure to skip this place next time & give my money to a business more appreciative & deserving.

The ice cream is tasty and the flavor are great. You have lots of choices and I though the prices were great? So why the 3 star? The SERVICE It’s an ice cream shop, shouldn’t you be friendly? The young gal that was helping us was distracted and not welcoming. We were actually the only ones in the store so it’s not like she was dealing with being busy, especially with three other people behind the counter. She really put a dent in our experience.

What is wrong with Unilocal reviewers? How could they not like this ice cream store? Lots of flavors, incredible location, and fair prices. Delicious in every way!

Skip it. The worst type of ice cream that you would feed your children — gummy bear ice cream filled with colorings, chocolate chip mint that’s colored green blah blah blah it’s just dryers ice cream. And they don’t except credit cards. They rush you through with no personalized service; my daughter asked if she could split a single scoop into two flavors; they said yes; and then they charged for a double scoop. Nothing at all interesting about this place except that it’s at the water.

The ice cream is decent, but the overall experience is terrible. They rush you through the narrow little store, forcing you to make a decision before you’ve even had a chance to consider all of the flavors. They only allow for one sample per person, so you pretty much need to know which flavor you want before you enter the store. On top of that, they’re borderline rude and only accept cash. All in all, the flavor options aren’t worth it — just get ice cream from somewhere else where they serve up an equally great experience alongside better tasting ice cream.

It was nice to have so many favors, however, it was the first ice cream shop I’ve been to would NOT allow picking two different flavors for a double scoop. I always love to try more than one flavor when I go get ice cream, but apparently I couldn’t get all my want at this place. What a shame!

(4÷16÷2015) Had a little time before the ferry to take us back from Friday Harbor to Anacortes. It was a glorious sunny spring day, went for some ice cream. FHICC is right next to the ferry terminal, perfect. Got the Northwest Berry Swirl, a nice icy mix of berry sorbet swirled into a fresh heavy cream base(not vanilla, mind you, but just cream, wonderful!). Dad got the Death by Chocolate(super dark and thick). Worth a stop if you’re waiting for the ferry. NOTE: cash only.

This is an ice cream place with no frills, except a LOT of choices and delicious ice cream. You enter in one door and leave through the other door and the entire length of the store is a narrow aisle ice cream case that you walk along. I recommend you look at the list of flavors on a print-out sheet posted to the window before you go in. They are friendly enough if you need to look before you decide BUT you can’t really go back to look at anything. So move slowly along and keep in mind the one(s) you are considering and then you have to make a choice. Regret your choice? No big deal! Just go back for more ice cream! No samples and cash only.

There are so many flavors to choose from. The ice cream is delicious but melts kind of quickly so you have to eat fast. The problem is that the place itself is way too cramped and small. It’s really hard to get a good look at all the flavors before someone rushes to ask you what you want. My friend also said that the sugar cone is really hard. It might’ve been sitting out for too long. Who knows. Remember to bring CASH.

CASHONLY. I really hate cash only businesses. I think it’s extremely lazy with all the technology out there to make running cards accessible and easy to manage but with that said I still like this spot. It’s right off the ferry load/unload area and they offer a ton of flavors to choose from. If you can’t find a flavor you like here then there may be something wrong with you… because no one wants to eat cockroach flavored ice cream… except maybe you it seems. The inside of the shop is super tight and there can be a ton of bottlenecks due to people not being able to make up their minds. They do have signs up on the counters so you can look down the row of signs to see all of the flavors without having to be standing directly in front of each case which I found to be a great way to help keep things moving along. I wasn’t too daring with my flavor choices and went with cookie dough and chocolate brownie in a cup. They were delicious. If your sweet tooth needs to chill out then this is a great choice to get your fix. I’m a fan!

Well, this is officially my first review ever with one star. We spent a few days on San Juan Island for our family’s annual«girls’ trip,» with my mom, grandmother, sister, niece and daughters. On our last day, Friday July 25th, we were looking to get some ice cream after a fabulous lunch in town, before boarding the ferry to return to Anacortes. I noticed the«cash only» sign for this ice cream shop which was inconvenient but still doable; I was looking forward to it! But then, we tried to purchase a child-sized cone for my grandmother as she is 86, she doesn’t eat full-sized portions. We didn’t see the point in wasting ice cream. The gentleman was quite brusque and refused to even consider selling child-sized cone to someone over the age of 10. It seems that if you are willing to pay cash for something, and that is the size that she would eat, why on earth would you not sell it to them?! Needless to say, we left frustrated and disappointed, and will *never* buy ice cream there in our future visits to the island.(Fortunately we found another lovely little ice cream place nearby that was more than happy to sell us a smaller cone for my grandmother. They sold 5 more regular or double-scoop cones as well, for the rest of our party! Customer service is certainly valuable in a service industry.)

Step back Baskin Robbins because Friday Harbor Ice Cream Co. has upped the ante with 72 different flavors. This is the perfect place for an afternoon snack as you walk around looking out onto the harbor, or as you wait for your ferry. The ice cream isn’t made in house but it’s still good, the portions are huge, and it will satisfy your sweet tooth. The only cons are that it’s cash only and a bit pricey.

Best ice cream around! We always go here, if you buy a single scoop they are generous. For 2 single scoops on a waffle cone and a single scoop kiddie cone for my son, we pay $ 8.75. They always have great flavors and new ones seem to pop up fairly regularly. My top 3 favorites are the lemon marange pie(pie crust is mixxed in), gummy bear(the green base flavor is green apple), and the German chocolate cake which I included a picture of. Try them all! We have tried tons, my son thinks about that place constantly. Once a day he says«can we go get a super man ice cream?» Which is a nicely colored vanilla. I encourage him to try different kinds so he gets a variety. Try this place, you won’t regret it. There are two other local ice cream parlors, like sweet retreat, but I do not recommend them, hardly ever open, limited. Go to the one by the ferry terminal(Friday harbor ice cream co), and always be happy.

I am a connoisseur of ALL things ice cream and this place did NOT dissapoint!!! We were on the island for 12 hours and enjoyed this lovely little shop twice. The flavor choices were what you would find at Baskin Robbins(31 Flavors) but the price & quantity were so much more! My ‘one scoop’ was truly two and the waffle cone was only an extra .25 vs. the usual .99 you could spend elsewhere(including BR). The girls were super friendly and there seemed to be no tax charged. Our two scoops(plus .25 waffle cone) were advertised at $ 3 each and we only paid $ 6.25 for our selections so that was cool. They only accept CASH so keep that in mind. The shop is super tiny so plan to wait a bit with long lines but it’s seriously worth it!!!

Step 1: Get cash. Step 2: Walk inside this tiny shop. Step 3: Gaze at the TONS of flavors. Step 4: Hem and haw before settling on something awesome, like Honey Lavender, Northwest Berry, or Chocolate Peanut Butter. Step 5: Take your ice cream onto the ferry. Enjoy.

This is a really small place packed with delicious ice creams. So many flavors to choose from. I got a scoop of green tea and macadamia nut. Normally, I would go with coconut and pineapple. I tried it, but there was too much of the coconut taste and not so much of pineapple. Both flavors were good. The green tea one was better than my expectation. There was a lot of macadamia nuts in the macadamia one. They only take cash. I only sampled one flavor, coconut and pineapple. I asked to a girl for green tea sample as well, but she said they only allowed one sample per one customer at the time. Wonder why.

Too creamy adn thick for my taste, but did have some awesome flavors(huckleberry). CASH only, so bring some! Location is perfect(right on the corner when you get off the Ferry from Anacortes).

I’m a little surprised at all the negative reviews for this place. It’s in a perfect location right near the ferry dock. And the ice cream is GOOD! I had the coconut pineapple and it was so creamy and delicious that I had to come back and have it again before we left — yum! My boyfriend had the wild berry sorbet on our first visit and the Maui Island sherbet on our second — I tried bites of both and they were very tasty. Lines can be long and the high school employees aren’t exactly the most friendly workers in town, but the ice cream is great, the long lines actually move pretty quickly, and the prices are reasonable.
