Papi’s Mex Grill

Excellent food, excellent service!!!
The waiter (in fact, the whole staff) went above and beyond!
I had the tostada and the lettuce used was green leaf and/​or romaine lettuce not that store pre-​shredded iceberg lettuce. Obvious care went into the preparation of our dishes. They also made adjustments to our daughters meals without any problems or added costs.
The salsa is delicious, especially the HOT salsa!

This is by far one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in town. Food is great. Happy hour prices are very good. And the owner and his wife are very friendly and they provide great service.

Service was great and the salsa was pretty good. Not a bad place to get a hot lunch and relax in the ambience of Papi’s Mex Grill. Unfortunately the lunch menu had an item on there that was no longer available which caused a rating of a three. Apparently the item was not available for a couple days but was still on the menu. The management needs to ensure that the menu and prices are correct besides that the food was good and like mentioned the service was great.

Great service, awesome food, tasty drinks. Everything you need for a refreshing breakfast, relaxed lunch or dinner experience. If your in the area there is nothing better. Trust me.

Taco Salad was great and my hubby loves the shredded beef in a enchilada & taco!

The perfect breakfast with my wonderful wife on a Saturday late in the morning and almost noon. The services was great the food was fresh, handmade and tastes. My refill on cranberry juice was a great touch to wash it all down. Been living here almost two years and this is my first time here. Needless to say, I’ll be back.

Love this place. They have the best fajitas besides Plaza Ventanas. Good drinks and friendly atmosphere.

My FAVORITE, FAVORITE neighborhood joint. The breakfast is delicious as well as the lunch and dinner. Love the micheladas just wish they still had the colors light on tap. The staff are also the best. All of them have never not been greeted with a warm smile and we come here a lot. The owner always makes you feel like a number one patron even if he doesn’t really know you lol. The combination of the great food, personable staff, good prices and good drinks sums up a 5 star for me.

Couple of years later and still stellar food and the service is much faster!
Steak Ranchero was the bomb and if you haven’t had the TJ hot dog do it!

The wife and I went here on our date night on Friday night. While it was super busy, we were greeted immediately and sat within 10 mins. While we waited I had one of the best Micheladas I’ve had in Fresno.
The veggie enchiladas we ordered were amazing. Flavors and ingredients were excellent. Both the wife and I are vegan so we appreciate the fact that they have this on their menu. During our meal we were checked on frequently and both felt like we were treated very well.
Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for good Mexican food.

Great food and service! I went to have lunch here with my boyfriend a while back and was thoroughly impressed. The food was delicious and service was great. We asked our server if they had a spicier hot sauce/​salsa, and they went into the back to make us a fresh spicy salsa. They even let us take the remaining salsa home. It was delicious!

Came here for the first time not knowing what to expect. Came at the end of happy hour so the place was pretty packed so we had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. We grabbed the «Papi Sampler» for an appetizer. Big enough that we were pretty much full with that and 2 beers. Had to try the «street taco» since it claimed to have «home made tortilla» so glad I did! Highly recommend the Asada Street Taco! BOMB​.COM!

Food was good as ever. Service just seems to get worse every time I go.
3 for 3 the last 3 times I have been. Service is terrible.
Just wanted to let the owners know. After 3 terrible service visits you have lost a long time customer. You just don’t have enough staff.

They have the best fajita in town. The shrimps are so fresh and big. The Margarita is awesome and the service us the best. Definitely will come back again!!!

It was hard to find this in the Yosemite Ranch center; it was tucked away in the corner on the Shepherd side, and you need to park in the corner and walk all the way through to get to the door by the fountain.
I like the décor; it’s obviously Mexican but not tacky. I was immediately seated in the bar area and saw that the menu had five vegetarian options. I decided to try the veggie enchiladas; you can add a portabello mushroom for $ 1, which I’ll try next time. The fajita veggies were cubed and between raw and al dente, with good flavor. The enchilada sauce was mild and slightly sweet. It came with black beans that were perfectly done, but lacked spice or flavor. The rice was mushy and red, but no flavor could be found.
The three stars come from the list of vegetarian options and my wonderful waiter/​bartender; he brought me lime for my soda, answered my dietary questions, repeated my order back to me, got my food out quickly, and refilled my soda like clockwork. Wish I had gotten his name.
I recommend this place for average Mexican food if you want a quick sit-​down experience with excellent service.

For a last minute decision to not go far away from home this was a great choice! Pulled up the menu thanks to other Unilocalers & ordered the Sampler, 2 fish taco combo & the flan to go & it was ready in no time @ all. The spice of the fish was really good a seasoned, although next time gotta be sure to ask for lemon wedges to add to it. It was a great choice though!

The food is decent here, judging from their breakfast menu. The breakfast tasted more like americanized Mexican food (white-​washed some people would say), and that is not a surprise being located in north fresno with everything being Americanized even asian food, therefore maybe not the most Authentic to the Mexican taste, but this place does a decent Mexican breakfast using good fresh ingredients and it tasted like everything was made from scratch. They also offer other dishes here besides Mexican food. The price in my opinion is on the pricey side for the quality of food I got. But the convenience of not traveling south side of Fresno for good Mexican food is definitely a draw for this place.
I ordered the huevos rancheros $ 7 and my sister ordered the traditional breakfast burrito $ 6. The huevos rancheros was not bad tasting, I just felt that 2 eggs would have been more adequate with the meal, I only got one egg for my $ 7 plate, the potatoes were absolutely delicious and had good chipotle chili flavor while the refried beans felt very homemade. The tomato-​chili sauce had a very fresh tomato taste and was very mild spicy, I do love the melted cheese on top, gave it a very lovely taste. The burrito, was good and again everything in the burrito tasted fresh, but the plate looked pathetic, maybe a side salad or something could be placed on the plate to make it look better, the 2 pieces of fruit really looked sad. Overall the breakfast was not bad. Although I would appreciate a higher protein choice for breakfast, like maybe adding eggs to my meal with extra charge.
Service was decent and we didn’t have to wait long to be seated and the interior was nice, clean and properly decorated, we were seated near the bar area so it didn’t feel very authentic mexican, yet it was proper. Overall I would be back to try their lunch entrée.

Salsa is good.
Prices are very fair.
Portions received plenty of food.
Food was very good and hot.
Staff was very friendly.
Cons–
Need to spring clean air ducts
(I look up very dusty.) Floor needs to be swept up during the day.
The waitress was over-​worked with to many tables but still managed to do ok.
Bar is next to the tables so we got to over hear the heavily intoxicated people talking about there extravagant times.
Will be back if all the same and the place gets a good cleaning I will change it to 4 stars.
