Very friendly service, overwhelming selection of donuts on display(and open on Christmas Day), plus a bunch of savory treats tops(beerocks, pig in a blanket — pork sausage with cheddar in a roll). And non-oily cronuts(strawberry and cream, apple cinnamon). Tried the apple cinnamon. Diced up apple sauced up was a little sweet, but layered dough was very light and tasty. Spacious parking and seating.

There is never a reason to eat donuts– its fattening, its low in nutritional value, and it would cost me an hour of pain on the grueling stair climber, however if there should be a reason, that reason would be Lucky’ donut house; the house of whipped cream donuts, cronuts, maple bacon bars and more. Eating donuts is an act of pure pleasure. So if I was going to have one, every bite should merit throwing a wrench in my otherwise painful clean-living diet. Dry, bland pastry need not apply. Warning though! BRINGCASH, its a cash only establishment. Lucky’s may be the perfect balance of old and new. It’s semi-«artisanal» with a bunch of new-school varieties like s’mores and the requisite maple bacon, but the other side of that seesaw is a big selection of old-fashioned doughnuts in flavors from buttermilk vanilla, strawberry to blueberry. The only thing missing from this shop is the exorbitant prices. With many doughnuts under two bucks, I can afford to splurge on the purchase as well as the calories. Prices: Whipped Cream Bar $ 1.50, Maple Bacon $ 2, Cronut $ 2.75, French Cruller Puff $.35 cents each, Donut Holes .20 cents each, Jelly filled donuts $.95 cents to $ 1.20, normal donuts $.30-.50 each. Everyone has their own criteria of what makes the«perfect» donut. Lucky’s has succeeded to attain 5 out of 5 of my great donut criteria. 1. Flavor and fragrance– the donuts here are sweet but not cloyingly sweet, yet very distinctive and well balanced in flavor– its addictive enough to get me biting second and third bites. 2. Texture — dense, yet still light as air and melts in your mouth upon contact. While having that good bounce and substance as I hold it. 3. Nostalgia — has the elusive character of donuts that are old-fashioned in taste and look, not too modern, to the point its almost unrecognizable 4. Taste good on the second day, Bad donuts taste bad the second day, trust me 5. Aftertaste — luckys donuts does not have an aftertaste that lingers after I finished my first and second donut The aftertaste is normally bad from other donuts places due to the fat they use for frying. If anyone was to ask me the best donuts in Fresno, that award would fall to lucky’s for serving delicious donuts that meets my 5 criteria, prices that are too affordable, easy parking and smiley and happy service. There is a table and chair inside for convenient breakfast, and they do serve drinks, coffee and etc here too. Don’t forget to try their beerocks ! CASH don’t forget that, its a cash only establishment.

Now, that is 5 stars for a donut shop, not fine dining. These are wonderful donuts, very fresh, made by the very best people. I can go in there any time and get dozens of donuts for my students and the owners never bat an eye, they just give me a wonderful assortment. Great hangout for elderly, retired men each morning.
