Many years ago I worked in this area and ate lunch at George’s all the time because I love the cabbage soup. After moving on to a different job I no longer was in the area to eat there and haven’t eaten there in years… Saturday night, after not eating there in almost 10 years, I took my boyfriend there because he had never had Armenian food before. The food was just as amazing as I remembered, the staff was amazing and very attentive and we were never left waiting or wanting anything. The cabbage soup is still the most amazing thing on earth. I will be making more of an effort to go by there for lunch on weekends!

Been going to this place for years. I’ve never had anything bad. Their food is delicious. My favorite dishes are anything with his juicy chicken. The dinner time grilled chicken salad is my favorite, the dressing is superb with a hint of dill., and has a pound of chicken on it. The tabouli has an outstanding flavor but could use a little more bulgur in it, lol that’s the only negative thing about this place. The food, staff and ambiance of this place is amazing. Thank you George’s. See you soon:)

HORRIBLESERVICE.. From the time we walked through the front door to the time we left, the waitress did not smile once. She was like a robot. The only time she showed emotion was when we handed her the napkin with the COCKROACH that had just run across our table!!! She didn’t apologize, she didn’t tell the manager, she didn’t want to hear that it came out of the sugar bowl. nor did she replace the sugar bowl!!! We should have left!!! We stayed and ate the lunch we ordered. The food was good but we could hardly eat. We will never return to this restaurant. On the other hand, Georges, located in the Galleria downtown, is amazing on all counts! Great place to eat!

Amazing food — especially the Armenian combo plate! The family kept checking in with us, and the place was filled with regulars. Great atmosphere. We’ll come back next time we’re in Fresno.

Clam chowder a Friday favorite!!! Just don’t wait too long, it’s a popular item! Not to mention some of the best beef kabob, pilaf and bulgur around Fresno.

The lamb kebabs I had were perfect. Lightly seasoned, bursting with flavor, and so very tender. The pilaf and vegetables were a match. The baklava was light and flakey, with a surprising citrus zing to it. I have only previously had kebabs this good in NYC. A gem in Fresno. Wish I had discovered it sooner!

I’ve been to restraunts all over the world, and this is by far some of the best food I’ve ever had. Everything I ate was hand crafted and cooked to perfection. Even the dressings of the salads were made in house from custom recipes and ingredients. I highly recommend that you eat here at least once in your life.(Reviewer ordered the New York Steak medium, with the garlic potatoes and an Italian salad)

I wish I had more space in my stomach to eat more of the DELICIOUS food at George’s! Everything was perfectly well done and SOFLAVORFUL. The hummus was perfection, the lentil soup was incredible, the meat was so tender, and the restaurant staff were warm and friendly. Can’t wait to come back!

Actually less then one star. The place is very dated. But that’s OK. I did order. But I sat directly in front of the open cook line and the chef has lost his passion. My final straw is when he grabbed a ticket with his toungs and continued to use the same toungs to prepare food. Unbelievable!!! I offered to pay bit I left and did not continue my meal.

I have been a customer for years and for the tastiest, tender lamb, consistently you can’t beat George’s. They have a great wait staff and Simon, Daniel and Juan can’t be beat for the way they prepare the meals. My grandmother and aunt made homemade Armenian dishes the whole time I was growing up and the Armenian specialties at George’ s come as close to my family made food as anybody I have been able to find. Highly recommend this place.

contemporary comfortable environment. salmon and fillet mignon kebab were delicious — so tender and juicy. veggies were cooked just the right amount. tabuleh was so fresh and a great mix of tomatoes, onions, and other flavors. pilaf and bulgar were fluffy, soft, and flavorful, which is rare from my experience. i can’t comment on authenticity, but the food was great.

I absolutely love this place! The chicken kebab dinner is one of my favorite meals ever, comparing favorably to some of the best restaurants in the country. Lamb also great. Been going there for years. Love the owners, the servers, the staff. You cannot get better chicken or rice pilaf anywhere!

I love this place. Simon does an amazing job with the food. I love everything from George’s. My fav. Dish is beef kebab and lamb !!! I love it so much !!! Fresno doesn’t really have good middle eastern food, I’ve been to several places and I couldn’t find anything until I visited George’s. Shout out to everyone there! Keep providing good food and service !

I was in town for one night only and really didn’t want to be disappointed with my dinner experience. So glad I read the reviews and stumbled upon the treasure known as George’s. Paula, my server, was exceptionally helpful with her recommendations. Simon prepared my Lamb to a level unmatched during my 44 revolutions around the sun. The highlight was their homemade baklava! So delicious! I’m calling George’s a hidden gem of Fresno.

Ever since I was I child I wanted to try shish kebab. Every time I had it it was a total let down. I even went to George’s restaurant downtown and nothing tasted right. Tonight I came here and my shish kebab dream became true. It all was so tasty. I had lamb wife had beef. Both we’re so delicious. I will return again and again. Tasty!

OMG! Our first time here and regret not to have gone here sooner. Now we know what all the RAVE is about. I work for Costco and we carry the gift cards, and we always run out. We love everything we ordered from the hummus, enchilada soup, cabbage soup, Lamb kabobs, Chicken Jerusalem and the Armenian plate. We’ll definitely be back.(Tomorrow) Lol! The service, our server(Akram) was very friendly and the atmosphere is very clean. :)

There is a tradition in our family that after a funeral, the family hosts a shish kebab lunch/dinner. I unfortunately had to arrange such a lunch recently, and because we came from out of the area, asked relatives where to go. A number confirmed George’s was tops. And they were right. We were a medium sized group of 24, so we could have had a fixed menu, but wanted some flexibility for our guests. Traditionally this meal was a lamb shish(maybe that’s redundant) kebab entrée. OK, not everyone today loves lamb, so we expanded the options to include beef, chicken and fish. But definitely kebabs(nod to tradition). So I called the restaurant and was directed to Akrom, who was the banquet specialist. He was professional, attentive and accommodating. We chatted and I told him this was a very special event, and how I wanted our guests to enjoy an authentic Armenian shish kebab lunch, but, in addition, to add special appetizers that my guests and I had enjoyed as kids, but lost touch with over the years. So Akrom started down a list, and i picked three, each of which my mother made many decades ago. He personally made the Tabouleh that morning, and was on hand throughout the entire meal, and made it very clear he cared that everyone’s meal was perfect. And each dish was as good as it gets: — tender, hot perfectly spiced lamb(my choice) which is the acid test for this type of meal. — each appetizer was served serially, drawing out the enjoyment of each. — we had tabouleh, kuftas, and a yogurt dip whose name has always escaped me. — re: kuftas: meatballs in a broth. They actually had the same aroma and taste(even more moist) than I remember. They were even served exactly how I remembered. Now, how can you beat that? So, you can see how the guests were impressed and very satisfied. This might sound gushy, but under the sad circumstances of the day, it was even more impressive that with one phone call, Akrom put together exactly the meal I envisioned.
