Everything in here is good. We had a chicken fried steak breakfast and it was excellent. This is just an old time diner. Room is limited and parking scarce, so try to come little early. Service makes up for the parking and room. Highly recommend and differently going back.

Love this place for a number of reasons. It’s a nice little throwback diner with vinyl booth seating and old time paraphernalia on the walls. The servers are friendly and attentive, my Philly was spot on!

The atmosphere is certainly a draw for chubby’s(a great revival of the classic american diner atmosphere), the service was friendly and genuine, while the food although not amazing, is well above average and typical for an american diner–(wide range of offering and somewhat tasty breakfast and lunch menu, but certainly non-gourmet tasting). I do like how the price remains to be affordable for the portion given, although I have to confess, the price isn’t exactly the cheapest either($ 7 and up per person). My favorite experience is definitely the interior and atmosphere, it felt like a blast to the past. Where the music from the 1930’s were playing, while the diner was decorated in the 1930’s to 1940’s fashion, which felt very nostalgic and classical with its stainless steel tops, and a long counter top where single dinners are able to sit and eat. I also did enjoy the table amenities– such as the straw canister, it really felt very retro. Its not a very big restaurant, and probably would sit 20 – 30 people comfortably in their booths. They do have round booths that would fit 5 – 8 people. Their pancake $ 6.99, was served in a large quantity, however the quality was just passable, nothing special in taste or texture. It was kind of chewy, tough and flavorless, I did however enjoy the whipped butter, it really made the pancake taste so much better and moist. The syrup used here, is not maple syrup and was not kept warm. In a nutshell, the pancake was good but not great, and its safe to say the pancakes were a great diner quality, great to compete and compare with places like denny’s but not comparable to gourmet pancakes. I did enjoy the service, however it was slightly on the slow side. I do hope they could improve on the speed of service, because honestly the service was friendly and genuine, which brought the diner experience a step further. But if I had to wait 10 minutes to be greeted, that is a sign it needs work. Overall nice diner to dine in for a quick breakfast and lunch, especially if you are servicing your car on blackstone. Because it’s literally a ¼ mile walk from any car service office.

Awesome place for food and meeting friends! We come here many times in the year for a mini car show with our club. We are very respectful to all the other businesses there, no loud music, just cars and friends. Sal is always accommodating to us, stays open a little longer for us! Lanny V. President MSJ

Tried their club sandwich. Now, I love club sandwiches, but this one was dry, unappetising, and I couldn’t finish it. The fries were overly seasoned, as if I thought they accidentally spilled the seasoning over them and served it anyway. Wait staff was fairly unattentive.

This is the diner with everything you want. Good food, great coffee, friendly staff constantly trying to please. My husband had the senior menu chicken fried steak. It was one of the best he has had. He usually gets country fried potatoes but today he had extra crispy hash browns. Both are delicious. I had a big bowl o c fruit with English muffin. Both were delicious. A great place for breakfast or lunch.

Good food but service is going down hill quickly. They forget about you or by pass you for some of the ones they know and cater more to them. They barely acknowledge you !!! Very disappointing will re think about coming back

Really impressed!!! Big improvement from the last time I was in here over a year ago. Was in about 10AM… Very busy. The staff seems to know the regulars and addresses them by their fist names. It’s like family in here. The staff was extremely friendly with many smiles to go around. I ordered the Western BBQ Burger.medium. it was presented medium on an onion bun w/2 onion rings, sautéed Jalapeño peppers slices, pickles, sautéed onions, tomatoes, lettuce and BBQ sauce… it was good($ 7.99) and served with steak fries. No double burgers were seen on the menu.

I LOVEIT! Food is great and they cook it however you like(I have a lot if specific food requests, which usually I feel jerky asking for) and the waitress I had(elvira) is the sweetest!

My wife and I had lunch here yesterday, The service was terrible, we have been here a couple times and this service was horrific. Our order was taken long after we arrived, there was a couple across from us getting fantastic service. Apparently it is not appropriate to ask for silverware and a refill of ice tea. It took forever to get our food, only asked once if we needed anything else at that was after we were done eating. I ordered a burger and the bun was hard and not a typical hamburger bun. It seemed as if they ran out of buns. The serving staff was rude and we will never be back.

Discovered this place today after four years of staying in the RV park just across the street! Cute, retro 50s diner complete with Beach Boys tunes. The menu is surprisingly large considering the small size of the restaurant. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Our order arrived in a very timely fashion and was exactly what we asked for which was chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. I also had a regular side salad($ 1.99) with bleu cheese dressing. It was probably bagged salad mix but did have tomatoes, onions and cucumbers chopped on top. The chicken fried steak was hot and had a near perfect batter. The portion was small but it was lunch… we suspect dinner would be larger. The gravy had no visible sausage but was very tasty with a nice peppery zing… it was served screaming hot on the side as requested. A pleasant experience that we plan to repeat!

One of my favorite places to eat in Fresno. I’ve been coming here for years and my love for this place hasn’t changed one bit. The waitresses know us by name and are always so welcoming. Not to mention the food is absolutely delicious and the service is excellent. I’ve always ordered the Rock N Roller burger or the Solider Boy breakfast. The burger is always my go-to thing because it’s so delicious and always cooked perfectly. I love mushrooms and it’s always hard for me to find a good mushroom burger in a restaurant that isn’t cooked too long or has too much on it. My mom and boyfriend are usually the ones who venture out and try their other options like the Ortega burger, Chicken Fried Steak, Hot Turkey sandwich, Grilled Chicken sandwich, Open faced Chili burger and pretty much any of their breakfast options she loves. Honestly, everything here looks and sounds delicious. I’ve NEVER been disappointed with anything here — Service, quality, pricing, atmosphere. They recently changed their owners so now they’re open later! Mon-Thurs they’re open until 8pm and 9pm on weekends. Now I can finally come here for dinner, which makes me an even happier girl!

A friend invited me over to Chubby’s for a quick lunch so naturally not being one to question any form of food I agreed. I had the Philly steak and fries, they have one of those menus that so large that you just end up picking something quickly just so you don’t spend 15 mins reading the dam thing ! Not a bad choice, the roll was actually very good for me the perfect size and perfect texture. Meat wise not as successful, amount was acceptable but a should have been trimmed a little better there was definitely a couple of less than desirable pieces in there. The grilled veggies very tasty maybe a little sweet for some people but I like that so it was OK in my book. French fries again big serving well executed a little overcooked but still very edible actually I prefer the overcooked to the raw potato variety that is the norm with steak cuts, these are a thin steak cut so they did cook very well. Ice tea, good regular non flavored and no plastic cups that’s a definite plus for me. Have to mention the ventilation is not up to par, extraction fan performance needs to be looked into, it was actually uncomfortable there, uncomfortable enough for me to consider a return visit, Service wise, exceptional probably the best casual dinning service I’ve experienced in Fresno. Everyone was smiling saying hello, thankyou, really very impressive they must like their jobs. Have to give credit to the manager/owner for running such a happy ship rare to see that. If the food was as good as the service this would be a 5 star review.

Horrible experience. Went with wife and kids ordered and they didn’t have what my daughter and wife wanted. Then they reordered I got my meal almost finished it and went and complaint for them to get their meals. All the while the cook is arguing with waitress. The food was OK at best. We will not ever go back again

3.5 stars. My friends and I have been coming here for years now. It’s your standard retro diner. There are tables outside but there’s not much to see except a parking lot and Blackstone traffic. Inside’s better. You can sit at the counter or any one of their booths that line the window. The menu is pretty big and fairly cheap. It’s diner food, of course, but it doesn’t seem to be as greasy as at other places. I think they also have special deals on the window. Every time we come, the most popular thing to get seems to be the Original Chubby burger. It’s about 6 bucks and it comes with a side of seasoned steak fries(not overly seasoned though). The burger itself comes on a toasted potato bun with special sauce. They give you a pile of veggies to add on as you like: pickles, red onions, lettuce, tomatoes. It’s not the best burger I’ve had, but there’s something about it that you gotta love. I usually get the burger and a soda(no refills on soda). Overall, it’s a cute place to go from time to time. It’s a valley shop so you might as well give it your support. Give it a try.

They have breakfast, lunch, and maybe dinner? Their breakfast is pretty standard, no bells and whistles about it. The waitresses are always very nice and attentive. It is small, about 15 tables, and it has cute 50’s décor. Solid 3 star establishment!
