It has been busy at Charlottes, so I think many people will be missing this place. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to run a restaurant and just want to say thank you to Susan Rocha and her bread-baking husband for the hard work and great food. Also a big thank you to Rosa for her efficiency and just being a nice person. Best of luck to you all. Dr Seuss said it well: «Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.»

I’m sad to learn that Charlotte’s will be closing. The owners are retiring and closing their doors April 24, 2015. I am really going to miss them! They have added so much to the Tower District! Fresh bread, amazing sandwiches, tasty salads and pastries, and an incredible local business. If you have not had the opportunity to experience Charlotte’s, you better run and get in line early before the major lunch crowd. I was there yesterday like so many other fans! I think I’ll be going almost daily till they close. It’s more than just good food there! I congratulate them on their retirement, but will miss them dearly.

Following other Unilocalers’ recommendations I headed towards the bakery for fresh bread. Being undecided about what bread to get, the employee made me try slices of the bread. I finally got a simple loaf of wheat bread. Delicious! It was filling, the crust was crispy, the dough was tasty. The only mini point is the variety of bread available(3).

Great food, I just wish they were open more often. I love the vegan cupcakes, the soup, and the sandwiches. I think that might be everything? The half sandwich + soup is my normal lunch order. If you’re there when they have focaccia bread, you must try it! It’s the best bread they make. Their soup can sometimes have quite a kick, so ask for a sample if you want to make sure the spiciness level. My only complaint is that the only time I can make it to their store is Saturdays, and they are often closed on Saturdays for 3-day weekends.(I’m very happy for the people that work there, but sad when I show up and they’re closed.) I wish they would go back to evening hours that they had briefly.

The best place in Tower. Everything made fresh. Vegetarians very welcomed! Support local businesses. Their pride in their food shows! Thank you Charlotte!

I had lunch here the other day and I enjoyed it. I had a panini that was fab! They were out of salami so I suggested ham and it was mighty tasty! My lunch mate eats there a lot and he really likes their soup. That’s what I will try next time I visit.

Sandwiches are yummy and I love their cupcakes because they don’t try to impress you with a mountain of frosting on the cupcake. The cupcakes, when tasted, speak for themselves.

Hey there Charlotte’s how have you been? I’m not taking away stars for this but I’m rather frustrated. After several attempts to either have lunch or get baked goods we have all but given up. =(We have come early, late, middle of the week & weekends, and had to go elsewhere. Our last attempt was around 1pm on a lovely Saturday afternoon and you were locked up tight. Maybe we just have horribly unfortunate timing and happen to arrive when you’ve had exigent circumstances? Maybe your hours have changed? We miss you. Sat., Sun., Mon. is best for us. How about you? Yeah, we know Sunday isn’t an option. Or, maybe it is now and nobody told us?

took away 1 star because on the day of the shower we were missing 2 cupcakes. although we paid full price, we weren’t reimbursed for them. they were 2.25 each. not much, i know, but the woman on the phone didn’t really care either. she was pretty cool about it. meanwhile, i felt gypped and was worried about not having enough for the headcount. also, my blue velvet cupcakes were supposed to be filled with cream cheese and they weren’t. so there was that too. although they were amazing and everyone was raving about them, the business side of it was not up to par. if their business game matched their talent for food, they would have more business than even now. sometimes chefs get pompous when they know they’re good but putting the customer first is the golden rule, right?

BEST cupcakes in Fresno! I have a sweet tooth(ouch) so when it comes to cupcakes I’m a sucker but I also have standards, Charlotte’s obviously using the best quality ingredients. The Mexican Chocolate is probably my favorite, the chocolate raspberry is my second favorite, there are flavors like peach macadamia, lemon lavender, devine, devine devine!!! They also make great sandwiches, salads & soups. Bread is baked daily & you can purchase day old bread & cupcakes for half the price. LIKE them on FaceBook for their daily offers. Get there early, there has been a few times they were out of something I wanted to eat bummer, right!

Best bread in town hands down… Can’t get a better sandwich within 5 miles! I almost always get the Spicy Turkey. Best friendliest service service you could ever ask for! I am not a soup person but I have heard nothing but goods things about their soups. Get there before 11:30AM or after 1PM, otherwise very busy…

On our way to the Bay Area last week, my husband and I stopped at this bakery in Fresno to take a «rest stop» and pick up something to eat. I bought a Boston Cream cupcake for $ 2 and it was very moist and delicious. The custard in the middle really hit the spot since I haven’t had a boston cream donut in a loooong time. Restrooms were clean too! Parking available on the street.

This place is an absolute must GO. Rarely will I give a place 5 stars because that implies perfection which is really hard to come by, but this place is really cool. First off, the atmosphere is so laid back, very Tower district. The employees are super friendly and offer their opinions and advice on the product. The vegan pastries are absolutely mind blowing. So delicious and so many options. This place is a true gem for Fresno. The price point is just slightly higher than I would want, but then again where else can you get a vegan freaking cream puff. :) 5⁄5 stars for the atmosphere, the workers being awesome, and for the great pastries that they sell. Great job Charlotte’s Bakery. =]

Visiting Fresno I was looking for a good place to grab breakfast/lunch and found this on Unilocal.Delicious sandwich, a nice selection of vegan baked goods, and very friendly staff. I wish I could bring this place home with me! My only qualm is with the coffee selection, bit this is in fact a bakery so that’s what I am reviewing. Definitely stop in.

I love love love Charlottes. I come here at least a few times a month. Staff is super friendly and food is fresh. I always get the Mediterranean on whole wheat. The Mediterranean has turkey, cream cheese/artichoke spread, sprouts and avocado. So. Damn. Good. Their soups are also good. They’re simple but comforting on a cold rainy day. I also had the best apple dessert here. It was the apple almond tart. It was so freaking amazing. The crust was perfection. I could just not get over it. A few cupcakes were so so and I didn’t care too much for their scones but I still absolutely love this place.

Whenever we visit Fresno, we ALWAYS stop at Charlotte’s for breakfast: I love their sandwiches, pastry and salads. And most of all, I love how personable and attentive the staff is. Thank you Susan! We appreciate SO much all your hard work! Your bakery is one of the highlights of the Tower district.

Came here for baked goods since frosted cakery was sadly closed on Mondays. The selection of baked goods isn’t quite what I expected, but still good enough, just some basic cupcakes and brownie like items. The workers were very friendly too. I ordered a vegan sandwich since that sounded yummy, and it was surprisingly not bad. They have good focaccia bread, though it was a bit greasy. That, and everything kept falling out of the sandwich(pretty messy). Also found a new favorite place to order Reuben sandwiches from when I get a chance to go back. Just a heads up that this place closes at 3 so you need to come early. Update: 5⁄15 Their Ruben was amazing! Hopefully they keep it as part of the permanent menu. And they have super cheap baked breads for purchase if baked the previous day. Love this place and the friendly atmosphere!

I can’t say anything bad about Charlotte’s. We adore this place. If my boys had it their way we’d probably eat here several times a week. They used to call it «the place with the nice lady at the counter» because Rosa is just so sweet and amazingly awesome. How can you not love someone that remembers your name after seeing dozens of people day in and day out? My favorite food is the soup(which is always vegan!) the tomato to be exact. The cold veggie sandwich with hummus is delicious too. All of the breads are yummy. The pastries are the best and even better is that there are vegan options. Gluten free options and even vegan/gluten free options some days! Really, everything I’ve had has been perfect. No complaints ever. And they are so kind to our kids. Thank you!

Living outside of Fresno made me realize, Fresno loves chain restaurants. We are all about having the«next big thing» because there is nothing else here to rave about… Other than checking in at the gym. I’ve been on a sandwich craze w/local restaurants outside of Fresno. Everyone raves about Charlotte’s Bakery. I used to buy their vegan bakery goods when they were at their other location but I’ve been hesitant to try the sandwiches at this new location(I know they’ve been here for years) because of the prices. The price is worth the sandwich. I ordered the vegetarian panini on the Kamari olive bread. It was stuffed w/eggplant, portobello mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, cheese and possibly more. I noticed they did not emphasize on sauce and instead let the sandwich speak for itself. It cost $ 7.25 or $ 7.50 I forgot. It was good… Not the best I’ve had, but pretty good. The sandwich was big. It’s cut into 2 half pieces and wrapped and placed in a white paper bag. Chips are separate and cost $ 1.30 or so. They also offered lunch specials w/a half sandwich, half salad or soup with a drink. Pretty damn good combo… I’ll have to try it soon… Because I definitely over-ate. The lady at the cashier was very friendly. Loved and appreciated the female workers. They made me feel very welcomed. Sandwiches tasted homely. The restaurant set up was okay. They could def utilize the space more since they seemed to have a good roll of customers in and out until 3pm. The space just looks almost too big for all their tables and chairs. Regardless … I can’t wait to go back and try their other options. :-)
