As others have commented, the scenery is fantastic. Generally the staff is enthusiastic and very helpful. However, last night’s visit was just plain awful and hopefully not a sign of things to come. On their Facebook page they mention a new chef and that many things are changing. I’m all for that but there are some things you just don’t need to change. My girlfriend and I eat here quite often and the prime rib is what keeps us coming back. So last night we went to Ted’s for date night. Our waitress asked us if we wanted to start off with drinks. My girlfriend had a mixed drink, I only wanted water. Not once did she offer to refill either. We only got a water refill once during our entire visit even though we asked multiple times. I ordered the king cut prime rib, my girlfriend ordered prime rib and shrimp. We also ordered escargot for an appetizer. The escargot was fine. When the rest of the food came we were very disappointed. My prime rib was princess cut. It also did not have the traditional au jus with it, instead there was a dark sauce on it. It was also brutally well done. My girlfriend’s was the same and her shrimp were dry and rubbery, just plain overcooked. I told the waitress I had ordered a king cut and she said she wrote it down wrong. I asked her what was with the sauce and she stated that the chef was new and changing everything. She said she would bring me a new one, I asked that it be medium also as this was well done. As soon as she stepped away the couple seated next to us said they had the same issue with their prime rib and had them bring back new ones without the sauce. Even then they said it wasn’t very good. My second prime rib showed up within two minutes. It was very well done, to the point the meat was almost dry. Dry prime rib? I didn’t know that was possible. Meanwhile my girlfriend had tried her prime rib and it was also very well done and the sauce was just aweful. We were told it was a wine reduction. It tasted like very strong onion soup. The waitress apologized. I told her I would like to order something different, as did my girlfriend. She went with the perch dinner. I ordered tenderloin. When these arrived they were fine. The perch was plain old deep fried fish and tasted fine, the tenderloin was done to perfection and was great. The chef then visited our table. He told us that the prime rib was overdone and the waitress should have told us there was non left that was medium. He told us that he was going with this new wine reduction sauce because the old sauce was too high in sodium. I told him if I was concerned with the health of my meal I would not be eating prime rib to begin with. We also told him there are just some things you don’t have to change and that would be one of them. He said going forward they would be offering both choices as they had several complaints about the wine sauce. He did give us complimentary desserts which were excellent. We’ve always thought of Ted’s as kind of a hidden gem. Well known but never packed like other area supper clubs and always great food. I’m sure we’ll be back at some point but not for a while. While changing things up is necessary there are somethings that just need to be left alone.

As others have said, the view is stunning and the staff are enthusiastic and energetic. We happened in on a Friday evening in July while traveling through. It was clearly the place to be, but despite a full parking lot we were able to get a seat with only a 15 minute wait which passed quickly while we studied the taxidermy. I was relieved to see that the range of attire included nice sports clothes so we weren’t out of place in our shorts. It being Friday at a Wisconsin supper club we were looking forward to fish fry. That was, until we saw the(apparently very popular) breaded, fried, dried-out looking«seafood buffet» which comprised most of the fish on the menu, leaving us cautious about trying other fish options. Instead we each opted for a burger which was quite adequate and a good value. My husband, the beer snob, was relieved to see Central Waters on tap, along with the expected Bud and Miller options. As supper clubs go, it serves its purpose.

I met a group of friends here last year & we all ordered our meals. I was the only one to order pizza but was told I couldn’t eat it in the dining room with the others and would have to eat it at the bar so I left. The owner’s daughter told me it was a company decision they had made that their customers were not allowed to eat their pizza in their dining room. Has any body ever heard of such a thing any place else, I haven’t. What does a family with kids do when their children want pizza, split up and have their kids sit at the bar? There are plenty of other restaurants that want my business, several of the group have not returned nor ever will. I have had their salad bar before too and it’s nothing special, just food.

At first we were excited to try this place. It is nothing special. It smelled bad when we walked in. I think it is supposed to be a burning fireplace but it smelled awful. The salad bar is typical and nothing of note. The buffet was full of greasy fried food they call«fish». It looked like it had been sitting there for at least 3 hours. The hostess and server were unfriendly bordering on rude. We were there at night so I don’t have anything to say for the view. I imagine that’s part of the allure though because I didn’t see many other redeeming qualities. I would not recommend this supper club. Go somewhere else. Even fish at McDonalds might be better.

Yes, it has a great view and a friendly bar crowd(don’t let them know you’re a Bears fan or voted for Obama though — this is a family joint!)… Food was so-so. Steak was okay and priced at $ 18 for filet. Seafood Buffet was a steamer table full of breaded and deep-fried fruit of the sea. Nothing special… Did I mention it has a great view of the Wolf River and Partridge Lake? TIP: Go for the view.

I have had my fair share of meals here and I’ll keep coming back for more. The salad bar alone is worth coming for. It comes with every meal and has enough of a variety you could eat that alone as a meal. Everything I’ve eaten here has gotten high marks from me. Next time you’re in Freemont, make sure to stop here for a good meal.

You’re not going to get a better meal in Fremont along the Wolf River. The views around sunset and dusk are fantastic, looking over the bend in the river and the sand bar. Speaking of bars, they’ve got a great salad bar! Its the only place in town to get something that doesn’t leave you feeling like you’ve had a years worth of grease on your food. The apricot chicken is great, the burger gets an honorable mention, and the steaks are fantastic. I generally fill up on the salad bar(which comes with every entrée) and then leave with half my meal for later or the next day. Be sure to stop in the bar and ask Pete for some friend spinach!

The service was good. I had the chicken alfredo, it was terrible!
