*** New Ownership!*** And to top if off, the name has officially changed to… GANGNAM Tofu House! No lie! It is also not to be confused with longtime favorite, Kang Nam Tofu House in Milpitas. However, the staff here remains the same, and the nice mama-san in charge is always cordial as ever. If one had not noticed the new name, it could be easy to not realize any difference at all. However, here are a few highlights: –Menu has slightly changed, but many of the old favorites still remain. –More chicken and fish options are available. –Seafood Pancake is thinner, but much less greasy. Everything else is also not as oily overall. –Fish Roe Tofu Soup is a great new addition. Highly recommended. –Japchae is no longer included in the banchan, but can be ordered fresh and made to order. Call it whatever you like(and I’ll spare you any stupid jokes about the new name), but ultimately, this place is as good as ever, if not even more so. I’ve been a loyal customer ever since they opened their doors almost a year ago, and intend to remain so.

So glad I had the chance to try this place. Delicious! Small place, but wasn’t crowded when I ate around 7 or 8. The mushroom tofu pot and the normal bibimbap were yummy. Devoured almost the whole thing. We also got complimentary banchan. Excellent service from the lady. Food came fast. Prices are inexpensive too.

We tried the bibimbap entrée and soft tofu + spicy pork combination(highly recommended to split between 2.) Both were great and bibimbap was molten hot. I would say the least impressive of the three was the spicy pork, but it wasn’t bad by any means. The lady who manages the dining area is really nice, a true Korean«ajumma» :) Now that my family’s in Fremont, this beats schlepping to Santa Clara for the same stuff.

So I came here on a double date this past Saturday night at about 6:30pm for dinner expecting this place to be pretty good based on the reviews and stars from other people. We had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated because this place was kinda packed during this time. So I’m guessing this place HAD to be good. The waiters here are really nice and they fill our cups up with water every time it is not full and the food came our pretty fast. But I would not say my Korean food cravings were satisfied at all. The Banchans were unusually to what I’ve have at other restaurants and they weren’t really good at all. My boyfriend and I shared our meal since we weren’t that hungry and we got the Combination of Seafood Soon Tofu and Short Ribs. The seafood soon tofu pot was pretty good and it had a few pieces of clam in there and a few pieces of shrimp as well which was good. The short ribs were pretty good as well but I wish they gave more. I don’t think this combo of the price of about $ 20 was worth it for the tofu pot and very little short ribs. I’ve definitely had better Korean food before. Overall my meal was good but I think if I were to give this place another chance I will order the Bi Bim Bap.

I came here originally because I wanted to find some jajangmyun and settled for some soondubu instead. I ordered the seafood/beef combination. My only complaint about it is that while my tofu soup did come out bubbling still, it wasn’t nearly as hot enough to cook my egg all the way through. And about the side dishes, they were alright, but they were lacking the fish cakes, which I SERIOUSLYLOVE! I was a bit disheartened when I found that out. But the lady kept attending to our table, asking if we were enjoying our meal. So yay for good service!

What I ate: Tofu soup,(taste of) Spicy Beef soup, banchans Visit date: May 12, 2012 First time? Yes. I was craving some tofu soup after a run. And behold — we found Andy’s. The tofu soup was flavorful and spicy. Yum! BUT – there was an egg shell. Fail. For REAL spice, I recommend the Spicy Beef Soup. It has this weird mushroom in it that looks like worms(these freak me out every time I see them), but I can look past that because of flavor and the intensity of the heat. Just add rice and I am a happy camper. Banchan highlights: The potatoes with the sweet sauce were over cooked, but had really good flavor. My favorite banchan was the fried fish — mmm, nice and salty.

Fremont Peeps: No need to go to South Bay for Korean food anymore! It’s a small place and I was afraid that the food will never come since there is only one server. I needed not to worry. The lady was fast and efficient. The food were also great and very reasonably priced. We got the combo of tofu soup with seafood and spicy pork with an extra rice. The banchan comes with the fried fish and free refills. Our bill was less than $ 25. As for the whole restroom debacle, I saw the sign and my husband said he was sure that’s only for non-customers and he proceeded to go to the bathroom. He was right. This time. Only. :P

Food: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars Kid-Friendly: YES Finally! A tasty Korean joint close to home. Been living in the area for years and have always had to find my way to the South Bay or into Oakland to get good Korean food… but Andy’s is here. It looks like most of the bad reviews are from people who are upset about the lack of a public restroom. While I can understand how that can be upsetting, it’s a neighborhood gem so it shouldn’t be too far a drive for anyone to get home. Pot Stickers — crispy, generous, and tasty Bi Bim Bap(stone pot) — This is on hit Tofu Pot(medium) — damn tasty. had the beef… can’t wait to try the kim chee We’ll be back for sure!

The first time I patronized this place I picked up Kalbi and Bulgogi for dinner, and was a little taken aback that two dinners cost a little bit more than I expected… but when I opened my package at home I was pleased to see that the portions were generous, and happy to see that they do include some banchan(3 to be exact) on the to-go orders. For my second experience I dined in for lunch with a friend, and I liked the friendly service & the clean atmosphere. They served us 8 different types of banchan and although sufficiently palatable, none of them really stood out. Having said that I’d never seen a small fried fish included in the banchan at other Korean joints I’ve been to before. I had the Dolsot Bibimbop. Great ingredients, lots of textures and the mushrooms were delicious, but I wish there was a little bit more of everything. Even the bed of rice was on the stingy side. I wasn’t able to taste my friend’s soondubu, but she said she liked it. I am intrigued that they have one that has ramen in it so I may try that next time. Nice that its so close to home but I can only give it 3 stars because the food is not as flavorful and tasty as I hoped it to be… just didn’t have that«oomph». Located where Juan More Taco used to be, be wary of the elusive and small parking spaces during dinner time. I’ll continue to go to Bob Sang to get a real Korean food fix but Andy’s would be a good plan B.

Delicious Korean food that is a great price! We had lots of banchans to choose from and they were delicious. As for entrees, we had the following: — Seafood dol sot bibimbap — This is a winning dish! Love the variety of seafood and it had good flavors too! — Tofu pots(mushroom & combo seafood) — Standard tofu pot size which wasn’t bad. — Seafood pancake — There were lots of seafood in this pancake! Our pancake was slightly burned at the bottom, but at least it was tasty. Service was excellent. Considering that this is a small place, the waitresses were very efficient. One of the waitresses was so funny and talked to us a lot. Come here for some good Korean food!

There’s a new Korean tofu spot in town. At Andy’s Tofu House, you can watch Korean TV while you’re enjoying a bubbling bowl of tofu soup/soon dubu. There are 8 kinds of soon dubu($ 9.95) including the usual varieties(kim chi, mushroom, dumpling, seafood, beef), appetizers, BBQ, bibimbap and stews/soups. If you turn the menu over, the items are the same but the prices are lower(lunch specials, M-F). The banchan arrived : 8 little dishes — blanched spicy bean sprouts, a fried whole fish, napa cabbage kim chi, boiled potato cubes in a sweetened soy sauce, spicy crunchy cucumbers, spinach, jap chae, battered cold zucchini rounds. The banchan were good but not exceptional. The zucchini rounds didn’t have much flavor. You can probably get refills but none were offered. We refilled our own tea. * Beef, seafood & vegetable soon dubu: You can specify the spice level. I picked extra spicy of course. The soon dubu arrived scorching hot and bubbling. I was going to crack the egg into it but the server did it before I had the chance. The broth was fairly spicy and the tofu tender. It came with 2 shrimp(heads on), lots of clams, and small bits of beef. The check arrived with some mango candy.

Bustling Korean soondubu(tofu soup) house! On a Saturday night, the restaurant was still full at 9pm. I’m glad to see this establishment doing well since the previous tenants(Big Foot BBQ& Juan More Taco) always looked a little sullen. If you’re debating on what spice level to get your soondubu, I would suggest spicy. Both the«white» and«mild» are practically the same with no apparent chili paste. A lack of chili paste can also mean a lack of spice but also lack of flavor. They do put broccoli, carrots, and zucchini in the soondubu which are a bit non-traditional. What surprised me was the seafood pancake. I thought it would be a flat and floppy piece of egg but they actually go as far to put generous chunks of seafood all throughout. Maybe it’s because they’re a brand new restaurant with a desire to set a good first impression, at any cost, so I hope they keep it up. Panchans(side dishes) were decent. Good variety but I’ve had better. The kimchi they served on my visit was freshly made so it wasn’t as strong or acidic. On the menu, you can also find bibimbaps, other stews/soups, BBQ meats, and tofu soup + meat combos. Everything seems to be priced by the standard with tofu soups being the best deal at $ 9.95. The owners are incredibly friendly and this is a nice win for the Newark/Fremont area since there’s nothing like it in the immediate area.

Andy’s doesn’t get much love from it’s neighbors. they come and leave just as quick albeit with a menu in hand. when i left 12ish sunday, only 2 koreans were dining, QQ next door had 6 tables. flatscreen: korean drama(«chuno, slave hunter»), no english subtitles menu limited to soontofu, bibimbap, appetizers and the usual korean dishes. eats: seafood soon tofu(9.95) –broth watery bland on top –broth heavily flavored on bottom with soup concentrate/msg(that’s why i was told to stir it up to break up the fresh egg…) –seafood: 1 mussel, many mini oysters, small salthy shrimp, and bland medium shrimp no octopi, squid seen. –8 banchan, mostly bland/tasteless, japchae interesting, fried fish kind of mushy, some parts crunchy. banchan: –sign: «no public restrooms» employees only. whatsup with this? –waitress appears suferficially interactive. a. she mades a comment b. you respond c. she says nothing. –menu pricey, prices cheaper oaktown, santa clara, maybe fremont also. –not impressed with quality. –service good, many checkins, refused extra banchan twice. –no lunch menu on sundays. –msg aftertaste/slight wooziness

I first went here during grand opening and a couple days ago(I’m lagging with Unilocal reviews!). This place is one of the best Korean restaruant around in Fremont. Andy’s Tofu House is operated under same owner for Satomi. About 2 courteous waitresses working in this small particular Korean restaurant running back and forth providing superb customer service and they are the most friendliest people ever! They’re are like my moms pampering you with home cooked meals. Enough with the love. The menu is pretty straight forward and simple, not too much variety but the food here are pretty good for the tongues. I will break down into elements of the food my friends and I have ordered: Spicy pork: VERY flavorful! It has a mild spiciness into it, which I love. Great with rice. Kalbi: So tender and so delicious! I love these, it’s probably one of my favorite. It’s expensive one the side, though. Seafood pancake: I personally do not like seafood in general, but this is an exception. It was kind of doughy in the inside, but other than that, it’s a great appetizer for you and friends to share. Great with the sauce. Hot stone Bibimbap: Once I got my bibimbap on my table, I can hear the bowl crackling and cooking my egg on top. This dish is okay, It was dry for me. This is good for those who wants something very filling to their stomach. 1 star for customer service + 1 star for quickness + 1 star for food + 1 star for price + 1 star for the Korean channel shows = 5 stars.

Came here on Sunday after church; was wanting to go to Miga on Mowry but it was closed. This tofu house is owned by Korean; when we walked in, we were the very first customers and immediately seated by a Korean woman. She was very polite to offer hot tea and manual. We ordered two tofu soups, one wild and one without spiciness. She also brought out many little free dishes that every Korean restaurant offers. The most amazing one is the whole grilled fish; my fiancé said that the fish tasted too fishy but it was perfect for me and I ate two of them myself. Tofu soup was way too watery, not much flavor(not sure why so many reviews here raved about their tofu soups). Compare to Miga, the one in Milpitas and many of them in Santa Clara area(El Camino Real), this restaurant can’t even come close. It is better than Lee’s Tofu House in Newark though, at least their foods were all fresh and good customer service.

A small neighborhood restaurant with few frills, Andy’s Tofu House focuses on one thing: tasty, affordable food. Try their yummy seafood and green onion pancake(perfect to share with 3 – 4 people) and any of their numerous soft tofu dishes(beef, kimchi, etc.). Make sure to try all the banchan(side dishes) too! The staff is warm, friendly and easygoing, making Andy’s a great place for a quick bite on the weekend, evening, or any other time you’re hungry. Fremont needs more mom and pop restaurants like this. Forget the hordes of fast food chains lining Fremont Blvd and stop by Andy’s!

I just found this place where I did my Saturday drive after work for a relaxation. I did eat there and it was awesome. I had a wonderful meet with a waitress(in her mid-age) to not only say hi and here you go, it’s a matter of knowing your name. I mean, the point is that restaurant is not just the food, it’s a matter of serving our needs and accustomed by it. As usual, blue is for weekday lunch, and red is for weeknight dinners and weekend lunch and dinner. While I wait, she curiously why you knew this place and I told her is just a Saturday drive and etc. Moreover, she told the restaurant was on the 5th day and standing. The mystery is that the restaurant is also owned by Satomi Sushi, which is few doors away. When I got the real deal of food from side dishes to main dish(spicy tofu soup), it was TOTALLYDELICIOUS. The side dishes serve in six to seven different items, which will change from time to time, as the waitress said. I hope the fish side dish won’t be replaced with some other side dishes as it ‘s my favorite and the only Korean restaurant to serve that in my experience. The tofu soup balances the spiciness and the savor of other ingredients, which is a must for me. The upside is feeling in the neighborhood which include respect from the customer and accustomed by the food, even for a slow moment. The downside is that the restaurant was just in the basics, no restrooms, plain painting, no feeling of being in Korea. I just disregard that beause the restaurant is just started and the waitress told me that we will focus on making an effective Korean restaurant business so someday we will be recognize this place in the Bay Area.
