Change of ownership. The food was tasteless and not fresh at all. It used to be our go to restaurant, since we live close by. We have stopped going there since last year. Very disappointing

Like everyone else said, ownership changed to Chinese owner, everything not homemade no more, no kimchi as complimentary appetizer, pot stick small and taste like fast food shit, saw them take out from freezer large bag, order two bowl noodle and it came out in less than 3 minutes, I mean wtf, was it already pre made or what? Broth taste blend portion small like kids meal, no more hand pull noodle, just some package Chinese instant noodle that you can get anywhere in a Chinese super market, no idea what they thinking

Public service announcement. DONOTGOHERE!!! This used to be my favorite restaurant but once they changed owners it is not good at all. In fact we all felt sick and severely disappointed after we went there. They don’t do Korean styled Chinese food anymore. I am so sad. So so sad. On the good note the waitress was very nice. But everything else was horrible

Change in ownership. Change for the worse. Food is no longer Shandong Chinese/Korean mix. New owners are Cantonese and most of the original dishes are gone and those that remain are shells of their former selves. The pot stickers are no longer handmade and fried but are now seemingly store bought and half the size. The 炒碼麵/chaomamien has no flavor, reduced portion, noodle has no «bite.» The soup base used to be rich and heavy but now taste like some one just pan fried a bunch of ingredients, added some water, chilli sauce and bam, done. This is an insult to the original dish. Worst is that the new owners kept the both the English and Chinese name the same as the original… seems like a cash grab to me to bank on old customers.

CHANGEINOWNERSHIP When we didnt recognize the man and only saw one other woman in the kitchen we asked if they changed ownership and they have. I had my doubts but decided to try it out anyways. Waste of money. The jjajangmyun was extremely bland. I ordered the gan jjajang, which is a sauce that has seafood, but when I got my order seafood was just sitting on top of my noodles with the sauce on the side. The seafood is supposed to be cooked together to get the flavor. The noodles too were thin cut and swollen. Jjajang noodles should be thicker and has more elasticity. The jjambong tasted like water. Inside the seafood jjambong was some pieces of squid & shrimp & the only vegetable I could see in there were onions. There was no kick to it at all I had to add in a scoop of hot sauce so it can have a taste. The noodles were the same story as the jjajang. We ended up leaving without finishing more than half our food. First time doing that. Most of the korean fusion chinese foods are gona such as Tangsooyook, kangpoongki, kangpoongsaewoo. The only Korean items were jjajang, seafood jjajang, jjambong, seafood jjambong. If this was your place for Jjajangmyun, you better find a new place to go.

Changed ownership to be more Chinese than Korean. The noodle texture was not as chewy as before(no more hand made), and tasted so different and blend! The westlake beef soup is the only highlight here and my son liked it. The sweet and sour beef was so different than before! The batter was not good and the taste was not there. Super dissappointed!

no more hand pulled noodles. they didn’t even know their own menu well enough to know items on it. looks like new owners. don’t waste your time if you’re looking for jajang myun, it’s just plain flat noodles now! oh yeah, there was plastic fried onto the sweet and sour beef(which now has the red sauce) jjambong wasn’t spicy. no more kimchi or onions w black bean sauce.

New owner. No more hand made dumplings and hand pulled noodles and house made kimchee. It’s a loss for culinary scene. Now traditional Cantonese/American style Chinese restaurant. I didn’t stay.

[Summary] I’m guessing owners changed, as I only saw a husband and wife(?) working in the back. And honestly, I’d like to support local businesses. But with their painfully slow service, partially burnt and clumpy noodles, and to top it all off, cash-only(I found this out as we got our bill), I can no longer recommend this place. Used to come here for Jja jjang myun all the time. [Dine-In Experience] I’ve come here often to get some Korean food, namely Jja jang myun. Had the best in the area. Unfortunately, it was not on their menu when I went to dine in, so went with Chinese. We ordered pot stickers, Mongolian beef, and Pan-fried noodles. The waiter took a few minutes with our order, as he could not find a pen to write with. We got one pot of hot tea, and didn’t see any more water/tea that evening. He gave us our appetizers … 20 minutes after we ordered. Honestly, frying 6 pot stickers should not take that long. We were the only ones in the restaurant dining in the whole time. The waiter did give us complimentary bowls of steam rice, though it was on the old side. Was a bit dry, but hey, can’t complain with free rice. The beef came 10 minutes after the appetizer. It was typical Mongolian beef, so it was fine. Bit chewy, but typical. Nothing to complain about it. Last on our menu was pan-fried noodles. The noodles were partially burnt, and there seemed to be some thick, tasteless sauce that accompanied it. The noodles were not cooked evenly, as the sauce only covered the bottom portion of the noodles. Also, the noodles were clumped in chunks. I may have complained, had it not been for the painfully slow service all night long. There was a man who ordered to-go before we dined in, and by the time we left(1 hour later), he was still waiting. At least we got our food. There were two more ladies waiting for take-out by the time we left.

I think owners changed and the new folks don’t speak English well which is fine but to forget a customer’s order and make the wait time from ten to twenty is ridiculous. 12 – 5 Gave them another try but it seems they completely changed the menu and don’t serve what I normally get. Food quality is poor, service is poor, and speed is ridiculously slow. Took over 45 min to serve 2 dishes and put stickers. Will never be back again. Really empty. They will probably not last long

With the change in ownership which came with a change in open times. I called in around 11:30am, during lunch times, and they informed me that they open at 5pm now. Very odd. I thought it may have been lost in translation, since they can’t speak english, but, after a 5 minute call, they made it very clear they open at 5pm. So they’re a dinner time only restaurant? The flavors changed as well. More Sichuan and less Korean/Chinese. Disappointing since I was expecting the former. Not terrible, but the noodles were sometimes too thick. Jjajangmyun was too salty or a shrimp dish was too sweet. I’ll probably come when I’m REALLY craving jjajjangmyun since there is no alternative in the area.

There’s nothing to speak of in terms of ambiance… this place isn’t fancy. But when it comes to za jiang mien and sweet and sour pork(or beef), this is the spot my family prefers on any given weeknight. Those two dishes are my family’s ultimate comfort food, and they do it well. They give you a huge bowl of noodles and sauce that you mix yourself, as well as a big bowl of sweet and sour sauce to pour over the crispy fried meat. It’s not that bright red stuff you see at Panda Express, people. They probably have other great stuff too but these two dishes are our go-to’s each time. The service is quick and friendly, and you’ll be in and out for your meal in like half an hour. Again, be warned that you’re not going to the fanciest or prettiest restaurant in the world, but if you like za jiang mien or sweet and sour beef in that wonderful Chinese/Korean style, visit Palace Chef!

New owner — taste, ok; service, sucks. 5 people went in, no AC inside, very hot. Asked for ice water, brought only 3, ignoring the other 2. Asked for bowl, again, brought only 3. Seems we have two invisible persons. Ordered from the menu, said«Chow Fun» which was on the menu. Waitress said«our special is noodle, you should order noodle». When insisted on Chow Fun, she replied: We have no Fun. Tried to order Mango Chicken, again, replied no mango. Totaled order six dishes but only five came. When we asked, she said chef forgot, without a «sorry». No water or tea refilled. When raising hand to call her, all we got was ignored. Really mad, paid bill without paying tips. She ran outside chasing us yelling us not paying her tips. Telling me that the US Law requested to pay tips when dine in. Arguing with us outside leaving other customers inside without servers. Very impolite and not professional. Will not eat here again. Remember the previous owner was really nice and food were really good.

I went here with some friends and there were about 8 of us. 6 of them decided to order one of the family meals and, oh gosh there was so much food. Honestly it was a good price for that much food haha. I ordered the veggie chow mein and had some steamed veggies(I don’t know the sauce they were in but it came in one of the family meals) and they were both awesome. The chow mein was a tad spicy but I could barely notice it. Overall it was a great experience. It is a tiny place but we all thought the food was great. Wish I lived closer, I’d eat there a lot hahaha

Sigh… another restaurant has become the victim of new ownership. Palace has been around for so long, that I took it for granted. It used to be so good… the hand pulled noodles were top notch! Everything from the dude pulling and beating the noodles in the back to the«al dente» chewiness of those noodles was almost perfect. Unfortunately in my last visit, I experienced the new food under new ownership, and I must say it doesn’t live up to what Palace used to be. Very disappointing. Pork and vegetable noodle soup was super salty and fatty. Cheap pork, probably sat in a salt bath for days. Their used to be famous Ja Jeng Mein was way too sweet. And my biggest disappointment was the Shanghai Thick Noodles. They used to be super thick and super chewy and yummy. I’ve never had anything like it! Now, they’re just regular noodles and the taste is meh. Overall, very underwhelming and disappointing. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be back.

Ownership change. Chinese-Korean couple have decided to call it quits; enter a new Xinjiang owner with a Sichuan chef. Expect food to be spicer. Overall, acceptable quality but I cannot lie, I miss the old owners. May not come back as often.

I’ve actually been to Palace Chef more than a handful of times almost a decade ago and I just recently went back; it was still as memorable as it was years ago. Sure, it’s not the fanciest restaurant to step into but the food is legit. If you’re looking for delicious Korean-Chinese food at a great price, then this is the place to go. I wish I lived closer to Palace Chef to enjoy the hand-pulled noodles more often! Whatever you do, order the jjajangmyun(noodles with black bean sauce) and the jjangpong(noodles in spicy seafood broth). DELICIOUS. Also, the sweet and sour beef is so worth it. They actually serve you big chunks of fried beef– not fried chunks of batter. We also ordered the green beans with beef and that was also tasty. Going to a restaurant like this and sharing dishes family style is always the way to go. I will definitely be coming back!

Oh my goodness, I’m a sucker for homemade noodle. Palace Chef’s homemade noodle is good! They’re known for their Jan Chang Myun and the Spicy noodle soup with seafood. They’re both very tasty. They are also very generous with the seafood and sauce they give you in each noodle. The potsticker is just okay. They deep fried it so you can’t go wrong, haha. The service is okay. Only one lady is working during lunch time, and she usually do come and refill water and such when she is free.

My friend recommended this place since it was a restaurant she came to often from childhood. I had the Cham pong noodle soup which is basically spicy seafood noodle soup with shrimp, clams, bok choy, squid, and A LOT of onions. I enjoyed the hand pulled noodles here which is pretty much what they are known for. As for the broth, I prefer QQ noodle. Unlike QQ noodle however, the noodles here have the perfect texture I was expecting from hand pulled noodles — the right amount of chewiness, and it was not soggy even after eating ¾ of it. The broth was very light /lacked flavor and tasted like broth from a packet of instant ramen. For a spicy soup base, it was not spicy at all. For taste I’d give this a 3⁄5. The décor isnt all that great but hey its a hole in the wall! Overall the noodles are excellent. I just wish the broth was better. Plus the service is quick and food came out fast. So if you’re extremely hungry and impatient, coming here wouldnt be a bad idea: P

Chinese-Korean restaurant with mostly Chinese dishes on the menu along with Chinese-Korean favorites like Jjajang Myun(JJM — black bean sauce noodles), Jjamppong(spicy seafood soup), Kan Poongi(fried chicken w/spicy sauce), etc. Run by a couple(lady — FOH, dude — Kitchen), Korean was coming from the kitchen that I could hear in the dining area, and I heard the man speak both Korean & Chinese with customers when he came up front for a bit. The attraction for this little strip-mall joint is that the JJM and about 15 other dishes come with hand-pulled noodles and you can hear the slapping of the dough on the kitchen counter as they are made. My order was #109 Sam Sun«triple delight» Gan Jja Jang $ 8.25& Goon Mandu(fried dumplings /potstickers) $ 4.50. First out was some slightly under-ripe kimchi which needed some more fermentation time( ). That’s probably better for the masses than sour, over-ripe stuff. 6 large deep fried Mandu were obviously handmade( ) Simple, but flavorful filling of mostly pork and chives. If I’d actually read the Korean for the«Dumpling Soup» item(mool mandu = boiled dumplings), I probably would have gone for that more healthy option. A rare find, the noodles come with a fried egg hiding under the cucumber matchsticks( ). The«triple delight» adds some seafood to the Gan JJM in the form of shimps, squid, and a few tiny scallops( ). From the posted picture of the plain Gan Jja Jang(not my pic ) it looks like the egg may be part of the«triple delight» too making it well worth the ~$ 1 upgrade, IMO. The hand-pulled noodles? Pretty good. Chewy, but more firm /al dente than you get at QQ down the street. I’ll give them one Q, not QQ. All in all, a satisfying meal, though I would have liked for the sauce to have been thicker to stick to the noodles better.
